Impact of Formative Assessment on Students’ English Writing Skills at Elementary Level
Get PDFThe purpose of the current study was to measure the impact of formative assessment techniques on students’ writing skills. The techniques of formative assessment were used with sixty-four students. Formative assessment techniques were provided to students for three months. Summative assessment techniques and students’ survey was applied. In this study formative assessment was provided during the English writing process. After the completion of the intervention, it was found that when students are provided with formative assessment during their studies, this method of assessment improves their learning process. The result depicts that when student remained under continuous assessment process, it improved their English writing skill. On the basis of these conclusions, it is recommended that teachers should use formative assessment in their classes during their teaching. They should also provide formative assessment not only to the students by themselves but also enable them for self-assessment for improvement in their learning
Impact of Private TV Channels and its Commodification of Religious Programs
Get PDFIn some societies, religion itself is a complex subject and then creating its content in the media is no less of a challenge. Especially in a society like Pakistan where people are more sensitive in the name of religion and what is being said on TV soon spreads like wildfire on social media. The study looked at the extent to which Pakistani TV channels believe in commercialism and how far they can go for this purpose. To what extent has the aspect of commodification been embedded in Pakistani TV channels? One of the purposes of this research is to obtain and rate advertisements for the content produced and presented for TV. The questions are very serious and two different approaches have been adopted in the research method to find the answers. On the one hand, the survey sought the opinion of male and female students who were equally divided into undergraduate and graduate categories. On the other hand, in the Islamic and Hijri month of Ramadan 2019, the content of AREY Digital and Geo TV's Sehri and Iftar transmissions were compared. Numerical method was adopted for. Comparative Analysis of Education Policy Reforms of Khyber Pakhtunkhuwa (KP) Pakistan since 2008-18
Get PDFThe aim of this study is to compare the educational reforms of two governments in public sector schools within the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) region and finds the difference in educational reforms between the government elected in 2008 and government elected in 2013 in KPK. The study uses quantitative approach and used secondary data which is collected from the Annual statistical Report issued from 2009 to 2015. This research explains relationship between independent variables and dependent variable through linear and multiple regression technique. The analysis shows that three independent variables namely Basic facilities, Number of teachers, Number of institution has great impact on student’s enrollment which shows changes made by present government in the education policy has increased the student’s enrollment in public sector schools. The study focuses only on three independent variables while there are some other factors which can affect the student’s enrollment in public sector school
Identification of the Educational Problems at Higher Secondary Schools of Lahore
Get PDFThis study was conducted with the aim to find out educational problems faced by the teachers at higher secondary level by keeping in mind their most common issues regarding discipline, books, environment regarding teaching and learning, conduction of exams. This study was descriptive in nature and survey method was used to identify the higher secondary teachers’ perceptions about educational problems that they faced. The sample has been selected while using the convenient sampling technique. The total 215 teachers were working in the boys’ HSCs selected as the sample. On the other hand 282 female teachers have been selected for the study as a sample. The researcher collected the data while adapting the close ended questionnaire developed by (Ayub, 2014). There are 32 items included in the aforementioned research questionnaire. The descriptive statistics percentage and Mann Whitney U test was applied by the researcher to analyze the data. In the light of findings of current study it is concluded that the educational problems exist at Higher Secondary schools Lahore. However, the teachers replied that they try to resolve the students’ problem by discussing the issues with their colleagues, principals and most importantly with students as well. It was also concluded that there was no mean score difference in male and female teachers regarding the existence of problems faced at Higher Schools Lahore
Impact of Motivational Factors on Motivation of Police Force: A Case of Project of Punjab Police
Get PDFThe purpose of this study was to identify the factors that motivate security force personals at work and then study the impact of these identified factors on Motivation of Specialized Unit of Punjab Police Personals. The motivational factors were identified through interviews and after comparison with literature eight motivational factors were identified as independent variable with Motivation as a dependent variable. In order to study the impact of identified motivational factors on motivation of employees, a survey method was used. Questionnaires comprising of five point Likert scale questions were distributed among 306 respondents i.e. Security Force Personals. The results revealed that motivational factors Working Conditions, Career Growth Opportunities, Peer/Fellow Relationship, Salary and Organizational Policies were found to have a significant impact on motivation of Police Force. Whereas factors like recognition, work itself & supervisor role were not proved to be significant. From this study it can be concluded that motivational factors tend to differ in different job settings and careful consideration should be given to the factors that motivate employees in order to enhance their performance. The current study can prove to be a valuable input for policy makers of Police Department and help them understand the motivational needs of employees in different projects of Punjab police
Evolution and Exercise of the Power of Judicial Review of Executive Actions in Pakistan
Get PDFIn the modern democracies the protection of fundamental rights has gained immense importance. The fundamental rights are guaranteed by the constitutions of democratic states. The courts are empowered through the power of judicial review to protect fundamental rights against any violations of these. The concept of judicial review of executive actions emerged from the concept that the powerful executive can jeopardize the rights of the people for their political interests and there should be an independent forum to check the abuses of the human rights by the executive. In the modern era the power of judicial review has proceeded one step further as, in addition to the violation of fundamental rights, it has started examining the issues of good governance and disputes between state organs. Pakistan inherited the idea of judicial review of executive actions from the supervisory jurisdiction of English Courts to issue prerogative writs. Subsequently, Pakistan specifically incorporated the judicial review powers in the 1962 Constitution. The provincial high courts and the Supreme Court are entrusted with the power of judicial review; however, the Supreme Court can adjudicate upon matters of fundamental rights if they involve public importance. This research work examines the importance of judicial review of executive actions for the protections of fundamental rights. Then the evolution and exercise of judicial review of executive actions by the higher courts in Pakistan is analysed. This study finds that the superior courts in Pakistan have actively used this power to protect fundamental rights but in their drive to protect fundamental rights sometimes they have encroached into the jurisdiction of the other state institutions
Religio-political Ideology: A Comparative Study of Pakistani Political Parties’ Manifestos
Get PDFManifestos of political parties are considered the roadmap of any political party to work for the well-being of the people and to persuade them to vote for that party. The present research critically analyses the religio-political elements present in the manifestos published during 2013-2018 of three Pakistani political parties (PTI, PML-N & JIP). The researchers have employed Dijk’s 2004, 2009 and Wodak 2001 analytical model to analyze the discourse of manifestos of PTI, PML-N & JIP. The levels of analysis include othering, lexicalization, allusion and authority. The research finds that these three political parties have associated religion with different social and political activities to do politics. The quantification of data in terms of religious representation highlights that PTI has made use of religious aspects 40 times, PML-N 214 times and JIP 236 times in their manifestos. Additionally, the research highlights that political manifestos are among the best sites for the investment of religio-political ideology
Interrelation of Multiple Intelligences and Their Correlation with Linguistic Intelligence as Perceived by College Students: A Correlation Study
Get PDFThe present study was correctional in nature and based on quantitative research approach. It was designed to determine Interrelation of Multiple Intelligences and their correlation with linguistic intelligence as perceived by college students. The population of the study was comprised of all the students of intermediate level studying in Islamabad Model Colleges. The simple random sampling technique was employed to select a representative sample for the study. The sample consisted of 1000 students, Questionnaire was developed on the basis of Howard Gardner's Multiple intelligences Model. The validity of the questionnaire was ensured through expert opinions, whereas, its‘ reliability was measured through pilot testing on 100 students. Researcher used SPSS advanced version to analyze the quantitative data. Mean, Standard Deviation, and Pearson Coefficient Correlation were used to analyze the data. The results of the study showed that moderate inter-correlation exists between verbal/linguistic and logical/mathematical intelligences and. It was suggested that teachers may use all the Multiple intelligences during the teaching-learning process to promote their development. This study provides important information regarding multiple intelligences of the students and adds a composite scale of multiple intelligences to the existing literature
Substantial Impact of Cognitive Interpretation, Organization and Social Factors on the Effective Information Technology Usage
Get PDFEffective Information Technology usage refers to the intelligent utilization of all mediums of IT to gain maximum benefits. In order to survive in the current technological era, the teaching faculty is needed to use the information technology tools effectively to play progressive role in the educational institutions. The major objective of this study is to explore the influence of social, individual, and organizational factors on the university teachers to use the information technology effectively. In the current study, the population was included of all the teaching faculty which was the part of the Public universities of Punjab. A sample of 300 teachers was selected from 3 general public universities through multistage sampling technique. A Quantitative Survey research design was adopted and a survey instrument (7-point Likert scale) based on Davis’ TAM and M. Talukder. The inferential and descriptive statistics were applied for the data analysis. It was revealed in the results that the effective usage of IT was influenced by all the five sub variables of individual cognitive interpretational factors including prior experience, perceived usefulness, image, personal innovativeness. In organizational factor, the sub variable ‘incentives’ was found to have significant effect on the effective usage of IT. Similarly, under social factor, the peer pressure influence was found significantly determining the effective IT usage. It is suggested that for increasing the effective use of information technology, at administration level, information technology expertise should be made an integral part of selection criteria for university facult
