Assessing Students’ Life Skills and their Sources of Learning
University education is being criticized due to the least focus on the development of life skills and their contributing sources among the students. To investigate the issue, a self-developed questionnaire was used to obtain data from 400 undergraduates from eight universities and colleges. Results using descriptive statistics revealed that the skills of knowing and living with oneself were reported to exist among the majority of the undergraduates, while some students reported to lack of self-awareness, controlling emotions, and coping with stress. The results of life skills of ‘knowing and living with others’ showed students were highly skillful in these skills. But, some students were not properly skillful in effective communication, interpersonal relationships, and empathy. The result of life skills of effective decision-making shows that majority students were good in these skills, while some students have problems in decision-making and creative thinking. The analysis of sources of life skills showed that majority students have ranked family, peers and teachers respectively as major sources of learning life skills. The study implies that there should be reasonable focus on development of life skills among the undergraduates
Impact of Business Incubations on Entrepreneurial Mindset: In the Context of Pakistan
The goal of this study is to determine incubation services contribution to the development of an entrepreneurial mindset adding up human capital as a mediator. This quantitative study used survey data collection as a cross-sectional data collection method. The survey completed by incubators at the incubator center. The theory of the entrepreneurial mindset serves as the basis for the research framework, and smart PLS is used for the empirical study. First, the algorithm model was run to verify internal consistency. Next, a bootstrapping structural model was performed to examine the relationship between the hypotheses. Human capital mediates the indirect association between services of business incubation and entrepreneurial mentality, while services of business incubation are positively associated to entrepreneurial mindset in a direct relationship
Islam and Existentialism: An Analysis of the Philosophy regarding God, Man, Universe, Existence and Education
Existentialism, as a philosophy, revolves around the man’s uniqueness and his experience in an unconcerned universe, unexplainable human existence, focus on freedom of choice and the responsibility acceptance of the consequences of one’s actions. Islam, on the other hand, is a complete code of life which explains all areas of man and has major focus on spiritual and intellectual capacity development of man at the same time for the reason that man is the combination of body and soul or spirit and matter. The current study contrasts Existentialism and Islam with respect to the ideology about God, man, universe, existence and education. The study, by presenting representative notions of both atheist existentialists and non-atheist existentialists, at the end passes the philosophy from Islamic filter and presents implications/recommendations for Muslims teachers and students
Education, Human Capital, and Endogenous Growth Nexus: Time Series Evidence from Pakistan
The concept of endogenous growth states that economic growth is caused by variables within the economy rather than external ones. This study's major goal is to demonstrate the link between education, human capital, and endogenous growth in Pakistan. For the period 1990–2021, time series data is used. The stationary is confirmed using the augmented dickey fuller (ADF) method. In this research, the non linear autoregressive distributed lag model (NARDL) technique is employed for the empirical analysis. Gross domestic product (GDP), education enrolment, human capital, inflation, trade, and gross fixed capital formation are the factors examined in this study. In the current research, gross domestic product, education enrollment, and human capital are dependent variables, while inflation, trade, gross fixed capital formation and education enrollment are independent variables. Inflation shows an inverse relationship with the gross domestic product, while trade and education enrollment show a positive relationship with the gross domestic product. Gross fixed capital formation shows an inverse relationship with human capital, while education enrollment and inflation also show a negative relationship with human capital. Gross fixed capital formation and trade show a positive impact on education enrollment, while inflation shows a negative impact on education enrollment. It is recommended that the government should decrease inflation to increase gross domestic product (GDP). This study suggests that education enrollment (EDUENROLL), trade (TRADE), and gross fixed capital formation (GFCF) also increase

Utility of Early Childhood Education Resource Rooms in Pakistani Public Schools: Analysis of Teachers’ Perspectives
Early years of child’s life are acknowledged as vital stage for his/her all-inclusive intellectual, physical, emotional and linguistic development. Previous literature suggests that Early Childhood Education (ECE) provides solid basis for optimal development of life-long skills and consequent learning. Keeping in view the importance of ECE in international scenario, Pakistan National Education Policy (2009) made commitment to allocate additional budget for establishment of ECE resource rooms in all the public schools to provide at least one year of pre-primary education to children along with specialized training for teachers. This study, therefore, mainly focused to analyze teachers’ views about utility of ECE resource rooms in Pakistani public schools and to highlight opportunities, gaps and challenges. To achieve the objective, researchers used quantitative survey design and collected views of 308 (150 male and 158 female) randomly selected ECE teachers in district Muzaffargarh. A self-developed questionnaire comprising two factors having 45 close-ended items was used to collect data. Researchers applied both the descriptive and inferential statistical techniques to analyze the quantitative data. Overall, results suggested that majority of sample teachers showed positive perception about ECE setup as well as its utility but with some reservations. Findings further revealed that teachers' perceived utility of ECE resource rooms differed significantly in terms of their gender but not for school location. This study finally recommends that governments should increase allocation of budget to further promote ECE in public sector schools, specifically to construct purpose-build resource rooms and to train teachers
Alignment between Biology Curriculum Objectives and Assessment at Higher Secondary Level
Curriculum alignment is basically the process of formally evaluating a course or an educational programme to address the changing needs of society and the workforce, which is done by educators across all levels. In this study, researcher investigated to what extent the curriculum objectives are aligned with assessment of Biology, explored the available laboratory facilities for Biology students, and find out the opinion of teachers and students about the implementation of the Biology National Curriculum 2006. A mixed methods approach was employed to get a clear understanding of the problem. All biology students and teachers from Islamabad Model Colleges of Islamabad were the population of the study. The samples were chosen by a random sampling technique. The researcher used a checklist for students, semi-structured interviews for biology teachers, and lab observation was also done to check the available resources for conducting practicals. The researcher personally visited all institutions for data collection. Researcher used percentage for the analysis of students' checklist. Qualitative data got from interviews of teachers were analyzed using NVIVO. It was found that the objectives were not fully aligned with assessment; students were not satisfied with curriculum objectives; learning activities were partially aligned with the curriculum; assessment plans were also partially aligned with the curriculum; time is not enough to cover the whole content; teachers are not satisfied with the performance of the learners; teachers try their best to cover the content. It is recommended that courses may not be so lengthy. The assessment may be aligned with the objectives of the National Curriculum, the focus of the students may change from getting marks to concept clarification, lab equipment may be provided to institutes, lab equipment may be updated and according to the quantity mentioned in the Biology National Curriculum 2006
