    Effect of Different Levels of Hesperetin on the Quality of Rooster Semen

    The study was examined the impact of varying concentrations of hesperetin on the cryopreservation of rooster sperm. Sperm were diluted with a Lake Extender containing (0, 15, 20, 25, and 30) μM hesperetin. After a 30-second freeze-thaw operation at 37 °C, membrane integrity, sperm motility characteristics, aberrant morphology, apoptotic status, and mitochondrial activity were assessed. The concentration of 25 μM hesperetin observed the highest values (P < 0.01) were (64.26 %, 30.44 %, 35.88 mm/s, 21.77 mm/s, 61.08 mm/s, 35.66%, 61.14%, 16.23 Hz, 61.71%, 61.71%, and 61.33%) for (Total motility, progressive motility, average velocity path, curved velocity, straight-line velocity, linearity, straightness, beat cross frequency, membrane integrity, mitochondrial activity, and viability, respectively). In contrast, it had the lowest values (3.94mm, 13.67%, 13.30%, and 25.37%) recorded for lateral head displacement amplitude, total abnormality, apoptotic sperm, and dead sperm, respectively. It may be concluded that adding 25 μM hesperetin is an effective method for preserving the quality of cryopreserved rooster sperm

    The Effects of Picture Dictionaries in Promoting Vocabulary Development of EFL Learners at Tertiary Level

    A large body of research has been carried out on integrating picture dictionaries in EFL classes globally; however, a gap in the literature has been noticed on their effects at the tertiary level in the Iraq context. To address this issue, this paper, for the first time in the literature, focuses on the effects of the Oxford Picture Dictionary on 50 students' vocabulary expansion at a private university in Erbil, Iraq. Participants were determined through a simple random sampling method. A mixed methods research design was employed to collect data via a questionnaire, two vocabulary exams, and an interview. SPSS 26 and NVivo applications were used to analyze and categorize data accordingly. Quantitative data, via independent and paired samples t-test, revealed that experimental group students increased their marks significantly regarding vocabulary enhancement, while the progress was insignificant in the control group. Likewise, via content analysis, qualitative data unleashed that picture dictionary-enriched instruction sharpened learners' pronunciation, spelling, listening, reading, and speaking skills and drove them to learn more ambitiously. The outcomes indicated that picture dictionaries can be used effectively to reap their benefits in various aspects as supplementary material in main course lessons

    A Review: Eco-Friendly Technologies and Sustainable Development of Urban Friendliness Spaces Toward New Urbanism Design Approach

    Ecologically conscious technology is a fast-developing domain centring around novel scientific and technical approaches that bring advantages to the planet. Commonly known as “sustainable technology”, this field is committed to conserving our natural resources. Therefore, urban Friendliness spaces are essential to all users as it stands as a public space which provides a sustainable environment for a more walkable, safe, and green environment.‎The problem statement of this study is imperative to enhance the sustainability and eco-friendliness of urban Friendliness spaces. Thus, this paper aims to incorporate both the development of new technologies and the improvement of existing ones to physically and functionally enhance the Friendliness spaces. The methodology involved a systematic literature review of new urbanism design approaches, which was achieved through a structured review of existing literature. Our results indicate that many key design elements, inventions, improvements, and scientific developments can have an impact on the ecosystem of urban spaces, subsequently affecting the people on an individual level. The findings of this study hope to contribute to the body of knowledge on how to improve urban development toward producing an eco-friendly and sustainable built environment

    Comparison of Academicians’ Work Engagement Behavior and Intentions to Turnover

    This research aims to examine the relationship between work engagement behavior and intention to leave. Work engagement behavior is individuals’ having a positive attitude towards their job, interacting with their job at an advanced level emotionally, physically and mentally, having a positive attitude and sensitivity towards their job, and integrating with it. Intention to leave is defined as a conscious decision made by individuals to leave the organization if they are dissatisfied with their job conditions. In the study, data was taken from academics working at the university as a sample. A survey prepared via Google Form was sent electronically to the e-mail addresses of randomly selected academicians from various university clusters. Surveys conducted electronically provide convenience to the researcher, but low survey response rates constitute a limitation of the research. 335 academicians who answered the survey formed the sample group. As a result of the analysis, it was seen that work engagement differed in favor of private universities, and both work engagement and intention to leave did not differ according to age, gender, marital status, educational status and title. As a result of regression analysis, It was determined that there was a moderate negative relationship between work engagement and intention to quit, and that dedication behavior negatively affected the intention to quit by 41.3%

    Investigating Undergraduate Expectations and Perceptions Towards an English Language Teaching Program: A Survey Study

    Understanding the major stakeholders’ expectations and preferences in educational programs leads to academic excellence and betterment. The study aims to identify English Language Teaching (ELT) undergraduates’ expectations and preferences toward English language teaching programs. To achieve the aim of the study, a survey study was conducted using a questionnaire distributed to 133 ELT undergraduates. Descriptive analysis was used to analyze the collected data to explore the expectations held by participants. The results revealed that students possess various expectations. It was highlighted that failure to meet undergraduate expectations within the ELT program has a detrimental impact on the learning and teaching process. Undergraduates believed that both they and the university/lecturers are responsible for their success in managing their education stressing the value of collaboration between the major stakeholders in the program. They also prioritized having interactive and engaging classes. More importantly, some students did not intend to teach after graduation, causing a definite inconsistency between the purpose of pedagogical courses and students’ personal choices. Undergraduates preferred to have entertaining, engaging, experienced, and knowledgeable lecturers in the ELT department, urging the stakeholders that it is of students’ priority that lecturers perform at a high level of professionalism. It was emphasized that lecturers should use their first language (L1) when they face difficulties in deciphering complex content. Adequate changes in the program were suggested in times of struggle based on their expectations. Students found skill-based courses more helpful than pedagogical courses. Students preferred a combination of immersive, real-world practice over structured lessons in the ELT program

This review examines the current methods and approaches for integrating genetics and metabolomics into personalized nutrition strategies. We discuss the importance of understanding an individual's genetic makeup, including single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), and their effects on nutrient metabolism and health outcomes. Additionally, we explore the role of metabolomics in elucidating individual metabolic profiles and identifying biomarkers for personalized dietary interventions. We also discuss the application of computational and machine learning techniques in data integration and analysis, as well as the ethical and regulatory considerations surrounding personalized nutrition. The ultimate goal is to provide a comprehensive overview of the current state of the field and identify future research opportunities to improve the implementation of personalized nutrition for disease prevention and overall health promotion

    Synthesize of pluronic-based nanovesicular formulation loaded with Pistacia atlantica extract for improved antimicrobial efficiency

    One of the current concerns to human health is antibiotic resistance, which promotes the use of antibiotics that are more harmful, expensive, and ineffective. In this condition, researchers are turning to innovative options to combat this alarming situation. Combining herbal medicine with nanotechnology has created a new strategy to increase the effectiveness of phytochemical compounds in overcoming antimicrobial resistance. Pistacia atlantica is one of the promising herbs with medicinal benefits, but its poor solubility in biological fluids is challenging. In this regard, we seek to evaluate the antibacterial efficacy of Pistacia atlantica extract-loaded nanovesicle. Cholesterol, Span 40, and Pluronic F127 modified nanoformulation was developed using an environmentally friendly improved heating technique, and it was evaluated for size distribution, zeta potential, morphology, entrapment efficiency (EE%), release behavior, stability, and antimicrobial performance. By using DLS, spherical nanovesicles were identified with a size distribution of 50–150 nm and a zeta potential of −43 mV. The extract's encapsulation efficiency was 72.03%. The developed loaded nanovesicles demonstrated controlled extract release in the tested 96 h and storage stability of at least 12 months at 25 °C. Also, Comparing the two samples, the encapsulated extract had greater antibacterial activity against Candida albicans, Staphylococcus aureus, and Pseudomonas plecoglossicida with MIC of 1320, 570, and 1100 µg/mL, respectively. Besides reducing the misuse of antibiotics by allowing for the controlled release of drugs made from natural sources, we expect the findings described here to help provide alternative plant-based formulations with greater stability and antibacterial activity

    Potential Therapeutic and Effective Properties of Soft Tissue Liners

    Soft tissue liners are polymer materials between the oral tissue and the surface of the denture. They have an essential role in reducing the effect of the masticatory force on the oral mucosa. This short review gleaned data on soft tissue liners to highlight their potential therapeutic importance in the management of denture-related stomatitis and their comparison to other materials. Published articles in many databases were collected using keywords with soft liner properties, viscoelastic, dental materials, impression technique, and additive liner materials. The soft liners were compared to the viscoelastic oral mucosa, and their influences on the control of denture plaque were highlighted too. Their application in the treatment of denture-related stomatitis, as well as adhesion and biofilm formation, was highlighted. The result showed that soft tissue liners have high therapeutic efficacy and effective properties in treating denture stomatitis due to the incorporation of chlorhexidine, antifungal, and antimicrobial agents. The use of soft liners improved ridge resorption and had a crucial effect on the loss of denture fit and stability. In addition, soft tissue liners in combination with additive materials recovered the effect of saliva on the formation and adhesion of biofilm. Uniquely, the application of soft liners in the functional impression technique was ideal, due to their extensive physical properties, their viscoelasticity, and the immediate poured impression. Therefore, soft liners are highly recommended in many dental conditions such as dentures opposing natural dentition, resorption of irregular bone, immediate implant placement, tooth undercuts, oral mucosa atrophy, bruxism, and xerostomia

    MiRNA-93: a novel signature in human disorders and drug resistance

    miRNA-93 is a member of the miR-106b-25 family and is encoded by a gene on chromosome 7q22.1. They play a role in the etiology of various diseases, including cancer, Parkinson’s disease, hepatic injury, osteoarthritis, acute myocardial infarction, atherosclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and chronic kidney disease. Different studies have found that this miRNA has opposing roles in the context of cancer. Recently, miRNA-93 has been downregulated in breast cancer, gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer, bladder cancer, cervical cancer, and renal cancer. However, miRNA-93 is up-regulated in a wide variety of malignancies, such as lung, colorectal, glioma, prostate, osteosarcoma, and hepatocellular carcinoma. The aim of the current review is to provide an overview of miRNA-93's function in cancer disorder progression and non-cancer disorders, with a focus on dysregulated signaling pathways. We also give an overview of this miRNA's function as a biomarker of prognosis in cancer and emphasize how it contributes to drug resistance based on in vivo, in vitro, and human studies
