Smoking as A Risk Factor for Periodontitis in Erbil City
Get PDFBackground and Objective: Nicotine in cigarettes can harm the immune system and lead to constriction of blood vessels, plus the blood vessels in the tissues encircling the tooth. Constriction of blood vessels can form an encouraging environment for the growth of microorganisms that cause periodontal disease. The purpose of this study is to verify the risk of smoking on the periodontal health status. Material and Method: a comparative cross-sectional study carried out on 400 patients including 200 smokers and 200 nonsmokers of age range (18-64) years. Chi-square test was used to compare data recorded (p-value <0.05). Results: Most of the smokers were male. Most of the participants didn’t use interdental aid. There was a significant relation between age, gender, smoking habit including frequency and duration, oral hygiene habit, and dental care visit with periodontitis (P-value <0.05). Conclusion: The current study demonstrates smoking as the major etiological factor associated with periodontal tissue destruction
Preference Study Environment of Group Study Room in University Library (A Case Study at Tishk International University Library)
Get PDFThis paper made an investigation at TIU library to indicate to where the group study rooms at the library provide a preference study environment for students, to identify students’ satisfaction with current group study rooms situation and their preference for better group study rooms, and to identify factors in preference study environment in terms of size of rooms and furniture. The methodology was descriptive field survey, a questionnaire survey consisted of 20 students enrolled in the TIU to assess their satisfaction with current group study room, and a face to face interview with librarians to identify essential factors in preference study environment. Outcomes of this study provided suggestions in improving group study rooms at TIU library. The results showed that current size and number of group study rooms were not sufficient and students were using other spaces outside library for collaborative activities. The results also showed that although the group study rooms were crowded always, the students generally were not satisfied with current interior environment of group study rooms and they gave priority to number of rooms they liked most to see improved. Interview results showed that despite the reality that students’ desire for collaborative activities is growing continually, current numbers of group study rooms are not sufficient, current old furniture and small size of rooms are not providing a preference study environment for students at TIU library

This topic has been the subject of substantial research and several articles across the globe, but since such studies are limited in Iraq (approximately 10 articles, according to Google Scholar), it has been determined and researched. As a result, the positive and negative consequences of technology’s impact on education were studied in this study. A Google Form questionnaire with five questions was conducted to 26 volunteers with varying levels of education in order to assess the reception of the obtained data among educators. Earthquake Consideration in Architectural Design: Guidelines for Architects

This research investigates the fundamental concepts and methodologies employed by architects to enhance seismic resilience in buildings and ensure the safety of occupants. It emphasizes the importance of seismic hazard assessment, design standards, structural systems, and cutting-edge technology in reducing earthquake-related dangers. A mixed method has been adopted: surveying the literature, applying inductive reasoning, and conducting a case study. This research highlights the value of interdisciplinary cooperation between structural engineers, geotechnical experts, and architects to design resilient built environments that can survive the pressures unleashed by seismic occurrences. The findings demonstrated that architectural design solutions and approaches might significantly impact earthquake risk reduction techniques in seismic and non-seismic locations. In the cases taken, different techniques—in some cases multiple techniques—had been applied based on the buildings’ geographical locations, sizes, and shapes. Finally, we prepared a checklist for these strategies, including mass distribution, openings, rooftop structures, and other considerations to be applied by architects to make the solutions easier
COVID 19 and its Impact on the Mental Health of Women Professionals – An Empirical Study in Jeddah Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
Get PDFThis research study is aimed to investigate the impact of COVID 19 on the mental health of working women professionals in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The study adopted a quantitative descriptive analysis research design that was applied on a sample of 322 respondents who were selected using simple random sampling. The study utilized a three- domain questionnaire and 37 items to collect data. The three domains were: “Emotional and Health Domain, “Functional and Thinking Activity Domain” and “Social Domain”. Findings revealed that the COVID 19 had moderately impacted the mental health of the Women professionals in all three Domains. The Study recommended taking certain measures to enhance people’s mental health, such as staying engaged in activities that alleviate the individual’s mental stress. Recommendations include avoiding exposure to media, staying in touch with family and friends, getting enough sleep, ensuring physical fitness
