Teachers’ and Students’ Perception of Engaging Teaching
Patients' Experiences Of Everyday Life After Cardiac Arrest : A literature review
Background: Cardiac arrest survivors encounter new challenges in life, and a new daily routine is forming. Physical, mental, and cognitive impairments are common manifestations among survivors. To achieve as normal a daily life as possible, the affected person seeks to comprehend the events that transpired. At the same time, they attempt to accept the new situation. This acceptance aids in moving forward with necessary lifestyle changes. Purpose: The aim of this literature study was to analyze patients' experiences of daily life following a cardiac arrest. Method: The literature study was performed with a qualitative approach consisting of 10 scientific articles. These 10 studies were reviewed using the SBU's quality review template and formed the basis for the study results. Results: The literature review resulted in seven subcategories and three overarching main categories: the search for understanding and normality, adaptation to a changing body, and changes in lifestyle and identity. Conclusion: Cardiac arrest survivors need holistic care that addresses emotional, physical and identity challenges to effectively support their recovery and return to a meaningful life. Nurses’ experiences of workplace bullying : A qualitative cross-cultural study
Background: Workplace bullying is a severe and widespread occupational problem that negatively affects individuals, organizations, and societies. Studies have shown that national culture influences the way bullying is understood and experienced across different countries. However, our understanding of the cross-cultural variations in workplace bullying is still lacking. This study aimed to compare nurses’ experiences of workplace bullying in two culturally distinct countries: Turkey and Sweden. Methods: Using a qualitative design, semi-structured interviews were conducted with nurses (21 Turkish, 16 Swedish) who identified themselves as targets and/or bystanders of workplace bullying. Data were collected during 2019/2020 and analyzed using the deductive content analysis method. Results: There were many similarities between the Turkish and Swedish nurses in their reports of the most common types, antecedents, effects of, and target responses to workplace bullying. Differences were observed between countries concerning the source of bullying and in bystander responses. Conclusion: The findings emphasize that workplace bullying is a serious problem in the nursing profession across cultures and attention should be paid to cultural factors in understanding the varying bullying-related experiences of nurses. Healthcare organizations should therefore consider developing tailor-made interventions that fit their local cultural contexts to deal with workplace bullying in a more effective way
Family members' conceptions of their supportive care needs across the colorectal cancer trajectory - A phenomenographic study
AimTo describe the variations of family members' conceptions of their supportive care needs (SCN) across the colorectal cancer (CRC) trajectory.DesignA descriptive qualitative study with a phenomenographic approach.MethodIndividual semi-structured interviews were conducted from May 2022 to October 2022 with 23 family members of persons diagnosed with colorectal cancer. The interviews were analysed using phenomenographic analysis following the Consolidated criteria for reporting qualitative research (COREQ) checklist.ResultsThe phenomenographic analysis resulted in five categories. Not of importance describes family members' needs as unimportant due to the good prognosis and the organization of care and in relation to the needs of others. Only satisfiable by professionals describes information possessed by the healthcare professionals as key, as well as the need for professional counselling for the family members to process their emotions. Managed by themselves describes family members preferring to manage their SCN themselves by turning to the appropriate social support and/or by using coping skills. Understood retrospectively describes SCN as only understandable when things have calmed down and as requiring one's own experience to understand. Left unmet describes SCN as unnoticed by the healthcare professionals or not brought to light by the family members, or family members not knowing where to turn for support.ConclusionSupportive care should involve individualized information, proactive and repeated assessments of needs across the trajectory, as well as encouragement of family members to reflect on their needs and to accept support when needed.ImpactThere is a gap in the literature regarding family members' SCN across the CRC trajectory which this study addresses. Findings show five categories of family members' conceptions of their SCN. Those findings could serve as a basis for the development of clinical colorectal supportive care across the cancer trajectory.Implications for the Profession and/or Patient CareFindings show that to offer family members of persons diagnosed with colorectal cancer support only at the time of diagnosis is insufficient. Instead, the healthcare team is recommended to proactively and repeatedly try to identify those in need and the characteristics of their needs. In addition, it is important to offer individualized information and strive to encourage family members to reflect on their situation and to not suppress their own needs if emerging.Reporting MethodReporting adheres to the consolidated criteria for reporting qualitative research (COREQ) checklist.Patient or Public ContributionNo patient or public contribution
Educators' experiences of language models and language support in operations : Pros and cons from a multilingual perspective
Ethics and practice : A literature study of ethical challenges for social workers in elderly care
The purpose of this study is to highlight and analyze the most common ethical challenges that social workers face in elderly care, based on previous research. Through a structured literature study, this study aims to identify recurring themes and ethical challenges, as well as to highlight factors that contribute to these challenges. In addition, the study aims to create an understanding of how these ethical challenges can affect social workers' professional practice as well as the strategies that are proposed as solutions to navigate ethical challenges. This study is based on two central questions, which are: “What ethical challenges are identified in research on the work of social workers in elderly care, and what underlying factors contribute to ethical challenges arising for social workers in elderly care?” and “What strategies for dealing with ethical challenges are described in the research on elderly care?”. The method used to address these questions is a literature review, that is, the examination of scientific articles. The literature review was conducted to obtain an overview of the knowledge area related to the research questions. The search was performed in various databases, including PsycInfo, Sociological Abstracts, and SwePub. These databases were relevant to topics within social work, making them suitable for this study. The results indicate that ethical challenges arise within multiple contexts of social work with elderly people, with the right to self-determination and autonomy identified as the main common denominator. Factors such as cost-effectiveness, autonomy, family collaboration, knowledge gaps and a lack of managerial support are also identified as themes within ethical challenges. These challenges appear to be intertwined with one and other, which indicates a complexity regarding the navigation of such challenges. The strategies found were aimed to increase social workers' ability to navigate ethical challenges by means of obtaining knowledge regarding ethical issues, as well as increasing support provided by colleagues and management within the profession. The conclusion that has been drawn is that ethical challenges within the social work with elderly people has proven to be a multifaceted and complex issue, where different contexts can lead to the rise of ethical challenges, yet share key ethical components. Furthermore, this study indicates a need for additional research within the area of ethical challenges concerning navigational strategies.

How Multimodal and Digital Tools can Act as Scaffolding in History Teaching
