“…I can handle life when I’m with her...”- : Psychiatric assistance dogs – a social support that enables participation and mental well-being

    No full text

“Hi” : The Use of Adjacency Pairs in the TV Series Heartstopper

    No full text
The TV series Heartstopper, based on the graphic novels by Alice Oseman, has engaged viewers and critics all over the world with its strong focus on representation and identity formation. This linguistic study on conversation analysis aims to present how adjacency pairs are used between the two main characters Nick and Charlie and to describe how this affects the show in terms of atmosphere and reception. By using the methodology of conversation analysis and the theoretical framework about adjacency pairs and preference structure, this qualitative study focuses on examples from actual dialogue rather than numbers. The studied material consists of dialogue between Nick and Charlie from four episodes of the show’s first and second season. The results show that the language used between Nick and Charlie in Heartstopper is kind and gentle with mostly preferred answers in the found adjacency pairs. Foremost, the analyzed adjacency pairs were questions and answers, compliments, greetings and apologies, which all point in the same direction regarding tone and content. The language is respectful, honest and smooth without bad language. It stays this way throughout the series, even as the boys’ relationship deepens. By using this type of language with less irony and hard words, Heartstopper creates a loving atmosphere different from many other TV series

    No full text
This study investigates the integration of Agile approaches with hightech advancements such as digitalisation, automation, interconnected systems, and IoT within the automotive industry. The primary aim is to provide a comprehensive framework for Agile approaches tailored to the advanced automotive industry. It addresses the growing need for adaptability in development processes to meet market demands and rapid technological overevolving as vehicles transform into computers on wheels. The study begins with a thorough literature review of both Agile approaches and emerging industrial technologies. This theoretical foundation identifies gaps in existing research and underscores the necessity for a framework to integrate agile approaches with high techniques. Empirical data were collected by a qualitative case study, through interviews with professionals from large, global automotive companies, including Volvo Cars and Volvo Construction Equipment (VCE). These interviews provided realworld insights into Agile approaches' opportunities, challenges, and tailoring to meet industryspecific needs. A framework for agile implementation in the automotive industry is constructed and comprised of an extensive literature review and profound insights from the results of the content analysis of the interviews. This framework emphasises cultivating an Agile mindset, leveraging modern technologies, fostering customer collaboration, streamlining documentation processes, embracing changes promptly, improving planning methodologies, increasing flexibility, and acquiring relevant skills. Key findings reveal that process development methods must evolve alongside advancing technologies. Industries must adapt by tailoring Agile approaches and incorporating hybrid approaches, as reverting to previous methods is not a choice. This research contributes to both theory and practice by providing a comprehensive framework for Agile approaches in the automotive industry. It bridges the gap between hightech solutions and Agile approaches, offering actionable insights for enhancing the development process, operation and operation, and competitiveness. Despite its contributions, the study acknowledges limitations, such as focusing on large automotive companies in Sweden and relying on just only a qualitative approach. These factors may impact the generalizability of the findings. Future research should expand the scope, incorporate mixed methods, and validate the framework in diverse industrial settings

Becoming knowledgeable stakeholders : Enacting political and epistemic authority in a Swedish strategic urban planning project

    No full text
Strategic urban planning has long been promoted as an important approach to transitioning to sustainable communities. However, previous literature on the Nordic context has critiqued strategic activities because they often take place outside of statutory planning procedures and therefore present legitimacy deficiencies. While the inclusion of both stakeholders and diverse expertise has been recognised as important in strategic planning, previous planning literature has focused either on the role of politics or knowledge in planning, but not as much on the relationship between the two. This paper aims to deepen our understanding of how political and epistemic authority affect the legitimacy of strategic planning by exploring how participants in an informal strategic planning process enact authority. By applying a theoretical framework of stakeholderness and boundary work, the paper shows how the balance between political and epistemic authority is important when legitimizing strategic planning processes. The paper concludes by suggesting the concept of knowledgeable stakeholders to describe actors’ enactment of political and epistemic authority. This paper argues for a need to repoliticise participation in strategic planning by illuminating the interrelatedness of politics and expertise, to which the concept of knowledgeable stakeholders can contributeCC-BY 4.0</p

Nurses´ experiences of ethical dilemmas and their causes in the emergency department : A literature-based study

    No full text
Background: Emergency departments receive approximately 1.3 million visitors each year with acute problems. A decision must be based on good reflections, with the aim of "doing good" and preserving humans' integrity. The ethical dilemma was described as when the choice between two solutions was equally unsatisfactory. To protect the patient's health and integrity, the nurse must understand the ethical obligations that the nursing profession entails. Aim: The aim of this study was to explore which ethical dilemmas nurses face in emergency departments and their experiences of them. Method: A literature-based study was conducted. The data collection was made in Cinahl and PubMed. Friberg's five-stage model was implemented. Results: Two themes with seven subthemes were identified in the content analysis. The first theme, “Causes of ethical dilemmas”, showed that nurses experienced insufficiencies and bar-riers in communication, lack of resources and being forced to prioritize as common reasons for ethical dilemmas. The second theme, “Ethical dilemmas cause emotional strain”, resulted in frustration and sense of responsibility, the feeling of being unable to help, worrying about con-sequences and ethical dilemmas led to heightened stress levels. Conclusion: This study highlights how ethical dilemmas in emergency departments were a problem that led to deterioration of care. The factors causing ethical dilemmas to display need to be addressed to prevent faulty care. The study illuminates the substantial need for further research on ethical dilemmas and how to solve them.På akutmottagningar är tid en bristvara vilket försätter sjuksköterskor i en utsatt position vid etiska dilemman är de många gånger tvingas fatta beslut som påverkar andra människors hälsa och välbefinnande.

    No full text

Discourses in Swedish preschool music teachers’ conversations : proficiency, subordination and resistance

    No full text
In recent years, Swedish preschool has been subjected to significant changes. As there is a lack of studies examining how teachers in music rhetorically position themselves within this context, the aim is to study subject positions that are constructed in conversations between preschool music teachers (PMTs) and to discuss these positions in relation to the quality of preschool practice in music education. The theoretical and methodological framework is grounded in social constructionist theories and the empirical material consists of group conversations with PMTs. The results reveal three prominent discourses, the discourses of Proficiency, of Subordination and of Resistance. In conclusion, the PMTs show that they are opposed by other pedagogues in various ways. This makes the possibility of establishing a music-teaching practice on their level of expertise severely restricted, which in turn has an impact on the quality of the preschool practice in music education

Time reduction, route optimization and identification of deviation at an e-commerce company

Time has become one of the most critical competitive factors in logistics today, where productivity is directly linked to the time aspect, promoting lower costs, and enabling higher quality in the long term. Furthermore, both efficiency and profitability tend to increase due to standardized working methods. Increased globalization and diversification impose demands on advanced IT systems, as logistics networks are more complex today, leading to the coining of the term Logistics 4.0. Additionally, order management is one of the most time-consuming and expensive resources in the logistics industry. The purpose of this study is to explore the opportunities to optimize the picking and packing processes in a warehouse operation, identify and reduce picking errors, and optimize picking time. To address this purpose, a holistic case study was conducted at a logistics operation that is part of a larger corporation. The case company operates in e-commerce and is located outside Gothenburg. During the case study, flow mapping, spaghetti diagrams, fishbone diagrams, observations, time measurements, and various interview methods were used to collect empirical data. By ensuring the anonymity of the employees at the case company, an attempt to guarantee confidentiality was made. The empirical data collected identified several causes of quality defects. The most critical quality defects were unnecessary movements of employees within the operation and numerous manual steps in the packing process, contributing to increased time. Additionally, there is a lack of data on the picking and packing process as well as data on the causes and number of the picking errors. This results in a generalized recommendation for e-commerce companies on how the implementation of customized and adjustable warehouse systems, standardized roles, and engaged leadership contribute to the creation of a quality culture. For continued work, it is recommended to use a material flow chart, a material flow matrix, and a spaghetti diagram simultaneously to specify material movements. Furthermore, it is suggested to acquire a customized warehouse system that can be adjusted over time and to invest in creating a quality culture through engaged leadership
