For the Life of the World and Orthodox Political Theology
No full textThe article explores the document For the Life of the World: Toward a Social Ethos of the Orthodox Church (FLW) in the contexts that had instigated its promulgation. It maps this document in the coordinates of the Orthodox political theology during the long twentieth century. FLW corresponds to a line in “the theology of the 1960s,” which advocated for liberal democracy and against anti-Westernism. The article argues that FLW fulfills the unaccomplished mission of the Panorthodox council in producing a comprehensive Orthodox social doctrine. It compares FLW with the social corpus adopted by the Russian Orthodox Church during the 2000s
Then my thoughts become clearer and perceptions deeper : A field study of participants' experiences of one-day retreats
No full textSammanfattning Syftet med denna etnografiska fältstudie är att utforska, förstå och skildra hur deltagare upplever de återkommande retreatdagarna i en svenskkyrklig församling utanför Stockholm. Centralt är att ta del av människors egna berättelser, hur de tolkar, förstår och ger mening till det de är med om. Studien befinner sig inom forskningsfältet levd religion. Här ligger tonvikten på hur religion och andlighet praktiseras, upplevs och uttrycks av vanliga människor, snarare än officiella företrädare. Meredith McGuires forskning om levd religion samt Nancy Ammermans forskning kring vardagsreligiositet och andliga landskap har fungerat som teoretisk resurs. Inom fältet levd religion har jag särskilt fokuserat på tre dimensioner: relationer, religiös praktik och berättelser. Efter transkribering och kodning av fältanteckningar samt intervjuer med åtta retreatdeltagare, framträdde sju teman som strukturerar resultatredovisningen i uppsatsen. Temana rubriceras som: Gudsrelation, inre bilder och drömmar, Att uthärda svårigheter och få nytt hopp, Gemenskap och egentid, Ansvar och handling, Blandning av religiösa traditioner, Rum, symboler och artefakter samt Vila i Gud. Eftersom en stor del av empirin bygger på respondenters berättelser görs också en narrativ analys för att förstå livsberättelsens dramaturgi i vår samtid. I konklusionen konstateras att relationer, både till andra människor och Gud, var centrala för respondenternas meningsskapande. Möten med andra troende nyckelpersoner var avgörande när retreatdeltagarna återgav milstolpar i sina livsberättelser. Relationen till den kristna treenige guden framträder som levande och vänskaplig, det är en gud som man både kan anförtro sig till och ifrågasätta. Endagsretreater är en kyrklig praktik som visade sig kunna bidra till en transformativ process när det gäller människors meningsskapande och livstolkning
Women, marriage and church : a qualitative analysis of the space for women in the Ancientand Medieval church
No full textI denna fallstudie har jag undersökt hur kvinnans möjligheter har utvecklats i den kristna kyrkans historia, med särskilt fokus på den tidiga kyrkans samtid och medeltidens strukturer. Syftet var att särskilt se till kyrkorum och äktenskap, och om kvinnans möjligheter har utvecklats till det bättre eller det sämre mellan dessa tidsperioder. Frågeställningen har formats efter detta syfte. Uppsatsen är kvalitativ och empirin är noga utvald, där både författarnas könsidentitet och litteraturens aktualitet har tagits i beaktande. Uppsatsen utgår ifrån en induktiv ansats, vilket innebär att den inte är teoristyrd. De teoirer som har valts är både förankrade i det historiska perspektivet, men också i det feministiska perspektivet. I slutsatsen framkom det att kvinnor hade större möjligheter i den tidiga kyrkan, men i slutsatsen framkommer också klasskillnaders avgörande betydelse för kvinnor i valda tidsperioder.
Finding a home in the diversity : About young people's experience of integrational work in a multicultural congregation
No full textThis study is about a group of young people aged 15–22, with different ethnic backgrounds and how they perceive and experience work on integration and diversity within the youth work in Uniting Church in Sweden located in Södertälje. The study is based on interviews with three young people, an employed pastor in the congregation and a representative from the congregational board. Different themes emerged in the interviews which were then analyzed with the help of some key concepts, a theory regarding structures and the construction of identity, and a theory regarding theology and practice within congregations. The study shows that it is important to reflect on communication and that communication between diverse groups, ethnic or other, can be challenging in a congregation. Also, that young people who grow up between different cultures in a congregation may have difficulty identifying with a group.
The effect of incorporating the Convention on the Rights of the Child inSweden
No full textThis is a qualitative study based on semi-structured, open interviews with three social workers whose tasks involve taking decisive decisions regarding children. The purpose of the study is to investigate social workers' experiences of the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) into Swedish law and how it affects their work after the incorporation of 2020. The purpose of the incorporation was that all the changes should be in benefit for children's participation. And that the CRC should focus on the workof social workers, with demands and responsibilities. The incorporation has so far proven tobe positive. The social workers have presented various programs and support materials forthe social workers in order to facilitate full use of the Convention on the Rights of the Childin children's investigations. Overall, my findings suggest that the incorporation of CRC into Swedish law has affected social workers' practices due to the fact that children’s human rights are taking a more prominent position
Kyrka i digitala rum : Ett aktionsforskningsprojekt om församlingsliv online i Svenska kyrkan
No full textVad innebär det att vara kyrka och församling i digitala rum? Det är den fråga som varit vägledande för forskningsprojektet Kyrka i digitala rum. Frågan rör både teologi och digital kommunikation och framförallt samspelet de två emellan. Syftet med projektet har varit att dra lärdomar av och utveckla kunskap utifrån församlingars erfarenheter av det intensiva arbetet i digitala medier under perioder av pandemirestriktioner. Det handlade dels om att teologiskt reflektera över den kyrka som framträdde och tog form, dels om att skapa ny kunskap om kommunikation. Dessutom utveckla och stärka församlingarnas närvaro och arbete i kyrkliga digitala rum.Kyrka i digitala rum var ett aktionsforskningsprojekt som har präglats av ett gemensamt forskande och lärande med företrädare från sju församlingar i Stockholms stift, Stockholms stiftskansli och Enskilda Högskolan Stockholm. I rapporten presenteras forskningsresultat som bland annat handlar om: hållbar närvaro i digitala rum; andakter och förkunnelse i digitala rum och digitala samtalsgrupper. Rapporten ger också en god inblick i hur akademi och församlingar kan samverka i ett gemensamt lärande och den kan därmed fungera som inspiration för dem som önskar arbeta med frågor om att vara kyrka i digitala rum

No full textIn March 2020 WHO classified the coronavirus Covid-19 as a pandemic. Sweden took a different approach than most countries and let most parts of society stay open. This has gotten much criticism around the world. The main purpose of this essay is to examine to which degree this strategy took health aspects, such as psychical health, mental health, social health and domestic violence, into consideration. A theory of Sweden’s strategy as an individualistic approach will be applied and set against WHO’s definition of health as ”a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity”. A qualitative literature review of Sweden’s strategy indicated that different health aspects have been taken into consideration, especially regarding what measures have not been done or measures which have been removed. It’s also been clear that different groups received different amounts of consideration. The most distinct difference was between different age-groups.
