No full textGrammaticalization studies have mainly focused on the evolution of grams. The question of whether the semantic and syntactic properties so often found to co-evolve in grammaticalization studies also disappear simultaneously has hardly been addressed at all. This study focuses on the loss of future meaning of the Swedish auxiliary vilja, and investigates what happens with the raising properties associated with grammatical meaning in auxiliaries when that grammatical meaning is lost but the form survives in use, albeit with meanings located on the more lexical stretch of the lexical-grammatical continuum. The corpus material consists of The Swedish Academy Dictionary, and the study focuses on examples with inanimate and expletive subjects. Results indicate that the future meaning of vilja was frequently used during the 16th and 17th centuries, less so during the 18th century and hardly at all during the 19th century. Vilja with future meaning was possible to passivize over, with no change of meaning, a common indicator of subject to subject raising. This is no longer possible today. No full textThe personal-name stock of medieval Sweden is quite well known to us, but the individuals who appear in our sources naturally make up only a small proportion of the people living in the Middle Ages. A study of personal-name specifics in place-names formed in medieval times, in this case names in -bodha, -bol and -bordh in Uppland, can provide important additional information. In 333 place-names combining these final elements with personal names (not including what are assumed to be bynames), a total of 184 different personal names have been identified. It has thus been possible to document a number of personal names that are poorly represented, or not found at all, in other medieval sources from Uppland or the rest of Sweden
Kivasvenska och kanonsvenska : Sekvensavslutande värderingar i servicesamtal
No full textSyftet med studien är att undersöka förekomst och vilka funktioner sekvensavslutande värderande responser fyller i servicesamtal mellan kund och personal vid teaterkassor, bokningscentraler och likande runtom i Svenskfinland och i Sverige. Vi ställer oss följande frågor: 1. Enligt vilka interaktionella mönster förekommer positiva värderande responser i servicesamtalen? 2. Vad bidrar de med i interaktionens sekventiella flöde? 3. Vilka slags värderande uttryck förekommer? 4. Finns det skillnader i bruket mellan svenskan i Finland och svenskan i Sverige på någon av punkterna ovan, och vad kan eventuella skillnader tänkas bero på?
