Social work and climate change : the split between the personal and the professional
The climate crisis is accelerating even quicker than feared with devastating consequences for nature, animals and especially people that social workers engage with. This article, drawing on empirical data from qualitative research with social work practitioners in Sweden, highlights the gaps between global rhetoric and on-the-ground realities, and the huge chasm between social worker's commitment to climate justice on a personal level and their professional practice. Informed by reflexive thematic analysis and the descriptive-interpretive research design, the empirical data show that while social workers reflect deep awareness of the importance of responding to climate change, understanding it as everyone's responsibility, they see the call to action as being far removed from the demands of daily practice. There are strong indications that global patterns of individualization, specialization and the impositions of efficiency and narrowly defined outcomes, featured of neoliberalism and new public management, influence social workers' scope of work in decided ways. The global, national and institutional constraints on the roles of social workers raise ethical issues in relation to the imperative that all social workers address issues of ecosocial justice. The data suggest that if there were spaces for dialogue and reflexivity in their workspaces, and educational political and organizational support for group and community-based approaches, social workers would be willing to live up to the global imperatives to fulfill their roles in contributing towards ecosocial justice. The implications for the politicization of social work and the importance of emancipatory praxis in social work education and practice are discussed

CR analysis via local uniform completion, a sharp maximum modulus principle and holomorphic extension
Using iterated uniform local completion, we introduce a notion of continuous (Formula presented.) functions on locally closed subsets of reduced complex spaces, generalising both holomorphic functions and (Formula presented.) functions on (Formula presented.) submanifolds. Under additional assumptions of set-theoretical weak pseudo-concavity, we prove optimal maximum modulus principles for these functions, extending classical results for holomorphic functions and ordinary (Formula presented.) functions. Restricting to real submanifolds (possibly with (Formula presented.) singularities) of complex manifolds, we generalise results on holomorphic extension to full neighbourhoods known before only for (Formula presented.) submanifolds. The article is concluded by a study of (Formula presented.) singularities and explicit constructions of submanifolds on which the extension results are valid

Unfolding Reconciliation in South Saepmie : investigating tourist actors’ understanding of reconciliation and their perceived role in a potential reconciliation process in Saepmie
Due to the lack of previous research on reconciliation in Saepmie and the fact that the tourism sector are a source of tensions in South Saepmie, this thesis aims at investigating how tourist actors in the Swedish part of South Saepmie understand the concept of reconciliation and what their role might be in a potential reconciliation process in the area. The data collection has been done via interviews with tourist actors in the Swedish part of South Saepmie and the results have then been thematically analysed. The findings indicate that the participants think reconciliation is a very complex issue, which is also taboo in the tourism sector. Further, the findings show that reconciliation can and should occur in different spaces simultaneously and that it is both a personal- and structural process, arguably contrasting the previous literature on the subject. Only non-Saami participants framed reconciliation as reciprocal in its nature. Moreover, all participants think that tourist actors have a role, mainly entailing knowledge sharing and cooperation with Saami villages. Some meant that bigger tourist actors have a bigger role than small ones whilst others highlight the role of the individual regardless of how big they are as a tourist actor. The Swedish state and the Church are perceived to have a role and must have their own reconciliation processes in order for reconciliation to happen, the tourism industry does not have the whole responsibility. The most important thing regarding reconciliation is that one tries to change one’s behaviour as an individual or/and tourist actor, everyone agreed with this.2025-06-08</p
Anti-Inflammatory and Osteogenic Effect of Phloroglucinol-Enriched Whey Protein Isolate Fibrillar Coating on Ti-6Al-4V Alloy
Biomaterials play a crucial role in the long-term success of bone implant treatment. The accumulation of bacterial biofilm on the implants induces inflammation, leading to implant failure. Modification of the implant surface with bioactive molecules is one of the strategies to improve biomaterial compatibility and limit inflammation. In this study, whey protein isolate (WPI) fibrillar coatings were used as a matrix to incorporate biologically active phenolic compound phloroglucinol (PG) at different concentrations (0.1% and 0.5%) on titanium alloy (Ti6Al4V) scaffolds. Successful Ti6Al4V coatings were validated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), showing a decrease in %Ti and increases in %C, %N, and %O, which demonstrate the presence of the protein layer. The biological activity of PG-enriched WPI (WPI/PG) coatings was assessed using bone-forming cells, human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs). WPI/PG coatings modulated the behavior of BM-MSCs but did not have a negative impact on cell viability. A WPI with higher concentrations of PG increased gene expression relative to osteogenesis and reduced the pro-inflammatory response of BM-MSCs after biofilm stimulation. Autoclaving reduced WPI/PG bioactivity compared to filtration. By using WPI/PG coatings, this study addresses the challenge of improving osteogenic potential while limiting biofilm-induced inflammation at the Ti6Al4V surface. These coatings represent a promising strategy to enhance implant bioactivity

Betyg i Ladok 2025-06-04.</p
Avstickare : - utveckling av en reseapplikation med Blazor WebAssembly
This thesis aims to provide insight into the development of a travel application for car travellers. The application was developed using Blazor WebAssembly as the frontend, ASP.NET Core as the backend and PostgreSQL as the database system. The goal of the project was to create a tool that allows users to plan trips between two locations and receive suggestions for interesting places to visit along the way. To access maps, routes and location information, the Google Map API is used. User management in the application was implemented using JSON Web Token based authentication, allowing users to register, log in, add stops to a trip and mark favorite places. The application has been developed as a Progressive Web App (PWA) with a particular focus on mobile users to ensure usability regardless of screen size. User testing was conducted to evaluate user flows and interface design, where the participant was asked to perform tasks such as searching for routes, adding stops and saving favorites. The result of the development work shows that the core functionality has been successfully implemented, while other experience enhancing features were not implemented due to time constraints. The conclusion is that, despite som features not being completed, the application has a solid foundation and promising potential for further development.
Active and Healthy Aging : the Role of Public, Private and Voluntary Sectors in Providing Outdoor Recreation for Older Adults
Access to outdoor leisure activities is central to supporting active and healthy ageing. To address the lack of research on services supporting continued engagement, this study examines how public, voluntary and private sectors provide outdoor recreation services for older adults. This study uses a qualitative research design to draw on interviews, a workshop, and field observations conducted in a Swedish municipality. Grounded in the capability approach and theories of active ageing, the study contributes to a better understanding of how opportunities for participation in outdoor recreation are shaped by service provision and structural conditions. This study identifies positive examples of outdoor recreation services but also gaps, characterised by the level of challenge in the activities that stakeholders in different sectors provide. Whereas activities provided by public senior centres were conducted in accessible terrain and inclusive for people with functional limitations, opportunities for slightly more challenging activities were lacking. Activities provided by voluntary organisations offered opportunities for more challenge, with the risk of exclusion for those with mobility limitations. The private sector, despite interest, did not actively provide outdoor recreation for older adults due to demand uncertainties. A structural barrier across all sectors was limited access to transport. This study contributes to the literature by identifying the need for tiered outdoor recreation programs, improved transport solutions, and cross-sector collaboration. While situated in a Swedish context, the findings offer conceptual and practical relevance for broader efforts to provide diversity in outdoor recreation services that support active ageing for different groups. A more coordinated, inclusive approach through policy and resource allocation across sectors is essential to support outdoor engagement in ageing populations
