From Narrative to Argumentation: The Diversity of Discourse Patterns in the Accounts of Ambassadors from 13 BH to 13 AH
No full textيهدف البحث إلى الكشف عن مادة أدبية متفرقة في المصادر القديمة، متنوعة في السياقات، هي أخبار السفراء في التراث العربي، ودراسة استجابة الخطاب في هذه الأخبار للسياقات المختلفة التي جمعت أولئك السفراء والملوك الذين قابلوهم. وافترض البحث أن للسفير شأنًا يتجاوز إيصال الرسالة، وأن المؤلفين الأوائل التفتوا إلى هذا، فاهتموا بما وصفه السفراء وما سردوه وما جادلوا فيه، وأن الخطاب قد استعان بوسائل لغوية ومهارات سردية ومسالك جدلية. وقد طالع الباحثُ تلك الأخبار، ووجدها وافرة، وخاصة السفارات في بداية الدولة الإسلامية في عهد النبي ﷺ وأبي بكر الصديق t، مع تنوع أنماطها، فقسم البحث وفق هذه الأنماط، ومثّل لكل نمط بأمثلة مناسبة المقدار، وحلّل هذه الأمثلة، بعد أن مهد البحث بدراسة مفهوم السفارة، ومفهوم أنماط الخطاب. فجمع بين الاستقراء والتحليل. وقد توصل إلى أن أخبار السفراء متعددة الأدوات في تأدية خطابها، وأن المؤلفين الأوائل التفتوا إلى قيمتها الوصفية والسردية والجدلية، وأسهموا في بروز هذه الأنماط؛ فابن الفقيه الهمذاني؛ المؤلف الجغرافي، أظهر الخطاب الوصفي في كتابه (البلدان)، وأبو العلاء المعري؛ المؤلف الأدبي، أظهر الخطاب السردي في رسالته (الصاهل والشاحج)، والقلقشندي؛ المؤلف الإداري، في كتابه (صبح الأعشى)، وابن حديدة؛ المؤلف التاريخي، في كتابه (المصباح المضي) أظهرا الخطاب الجدلي. والبحث يطمح إلى أن يكون رائدًا لمزيد من الدراسات في أخبار السفراء، وخاصة في العصور التي لم تتناولها هذه الدراسة.The research aims to explore various literary materials in ancient resources, diverse in contexts, which are Akhbar (the news) of AlSufraa (the Ambassadors/Envoys) in Arab heritage. The study investigates the response of this discourse in this khabar (news) to the different contexts in which AlSufraa met the kings whom they encountered. The research assumes that Almabeuth (the envoy) has a role that goes beyond delivering the message, and that the early authors devoted themselves to this aspect. They were interested in what AlSufraa described, narrated, and argued. The discourse employed linguistic means, narrative skills, and argumentative paths. The researcher has examined that khabar (news) and found them plentiful, especially AlSafarat (The Embassies) at the beginning of the Islamic state during the time of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq. With their diversity, the researcher divided the research according to these types and provided suitable examples for each type. Moreover, he analyzed these examples after introducing the research by studying the concepts of AlSafarah and discourse types. He combined induction and analysis and concluded that khabar (the news) of AlSufraa employs multiple tools in delivering their discourse, and that the early authors embraced its descriptive, narrative, and argumentative value, contributing to the emergence of these patterns. The geographer, historian and author Ibn al-Faqih al-Hamadani, demonstrated descriptive discourse in his book Mukhtasar Kitab al-Buldan ("Concise Book of Lands"), and the literary author (Abu Al-Ala Al-Ma'arri) presented narrative discourse in his article "Al-Sahil wa Al-Shahij" (The Mare and the Foal). The administrative author (Al-Qalqashandi) in his book "Ṣubḥ al-A'shā " (The Morning of the blind) and the historical author (Ibn Hadeedah) in his book "Al-Masbah Al-Mudhi" (The Radiant Lamp) demonstrated argumentative discourse. The research hopes to be a pioneer for further research and study in khabar (the news) of AlSufraa, especially in eras that have not been addressed in this study
Harmonizing Contrasts in Imam Al-Shafi'i's Poetry: A Study of major Linguistic Layers
No full textيهدف البحث إلى عقد الصلة بين الأسلوبية والطرح اللساني الحديث، والكشف عن آلية اتساق بناء المقولات الشعرية للإمام الشافعي، ولعل أبرز وسائطها (المتوازنات المتقابلة). كما يهدف إلى استقراء مسلكه المنهجي بعقد العلاقة التناقضية بين التراكيب، وقد أُخضِعَت للتحليل وفقًا للمستويات اللغوية الكبرى، ابتداءً بالمستوى النحوي في بيان آلية تنظيمها القواعدي، والوقوف على خصائص قوالبها البنيوية، مرورًا بالمستوى الدلالي في استجلاء أنساقها الصياغية وأبعادها اللغوية، وانتهاءً ببيان دور المستوى السياقي وقرائنه وأدواته في إحداث السبك النصي، والاختتام بعرض التجليات الجمالية في جوانب الاتساق. وقد اتبع البحث المنهج الاستقرائي الوصفي وصولًا إلى النتائج؛ ومنها: خروج الإمام الشافعي عن القواعد المعيارية في بناء المتقابلات؛ فيما أحدثه من تغيرات شكلية ومفصلية، والاسترشاد إلى قصديته من المستلزمات المقالية والحالية، وقياس نسبة التعارض بين المتقابلات؛ فمنها الحاد والنسبي والكلي والمشروط وغيرها، واستظهار وسائله لتوسيع نطاقها المساحي أو تضييقها أو تغيّرها، واستعراض خواصها البنيوية من تكرار واعتراض وتقديم وتأخير وحذف وشرط، والكشف عن غاياته من الانزياح التركيبي، وإحداثه التنوع الأسلوبي، والإفصاح عن منهجياته لتوثيق عُرى التوازن بطرائق الإحالة والتكرار والمحسنات البديعية، والوقوف على أبرز قوالبها الخبرية المؤكدة لغرض الحكمة، وقوالبها الإنشائية المختلفة. وأظهر البحث تجليات اتساق المتقابلات من أدوارها المنجزة، التي بدت في مستوى الاتساق اللفظي، والمعنوي، والفني، والمنطقي، والوظيفي وغيرها، والوقوف على حقيقة تضافر المستويات اللغوية في تشكيل الاتساق البنائي العام لمقوله الشعري.This study ventures into bridging stylistics with contemporary linguistic theory, focusing on the structural coherence in Imam Al-Shafi'i's poetic expressions, particularly through his adept use of balanced antithetical constructs. It aims to discern his methodical trajectory in establishing contrasting syntactic relationships. The analysis traverses the major linguistic strata, commencing with a grammatical exploration to decode the rules governing his structural templates, progressing to a semantic dissection to unveil his formulation patterns and linguistic dimensions, and culminating in an examination of the contextual layer, its cues, and mechanisms in forging textual cohesion. The study also unfolds the aesthetic dimensions of coherence. Adopting a descriptive inductive approach, the research uncovers several insights, such as Imam Al-Shafi'i's departure from conventional norms in formulating antithetical pairs, marked by his innovative formal and structural modifications. It assesses his poetic intent through contextual and situational prerequisites and evaluates the spectrum of opposition in these pairs, ranging from stark to relative, comprehensive to conditional, and others. The study further delves into his techniques for manipulating the spatial scope of these constructs and examines their structural features, including repetition, interjection, precedence, postponement, omission, and conditionality. It reveals his strategic use of syntactic deviation to enrich stylistic variety and discusses his methodologies for enhancing balance through referential techniques, repetition, and rhetorical embellishments. The research also scrutinizes his predominant assertive and varied declarative templates, emphasizing their role in conveying wisdom.
The findings illuminate the multifaceted coherence of the antithetical constructs, showcasing their roles in achieving lexical, semantic, artistic, logical, and functional coherence, among others. Linguistic Stylistics of Extremist Discourse in the Digital Realm: Analyzing ISIS's Rhetoric
No full textتبحث هذه الدراسة في السمات اللغوية في بنية الخطاب المتطرف عبر مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي لمجموعة من خطابات تنظيم الدولة (داعش) من خلال البحث في مستويات دلالية وتركيبية، وحصر التكرارات والتكثيفات لوحدات معجمية محددة، والنظر في استخدامهم لأدوات واستراتيجيات خطابية ترتكز على مخزونهم اللغوي، وما يحمله من دلالات وإيقاعات صوتية، أو اختياراتهم المتعمدة لبنية شبكة العلاقات التركيبية وما تتضمنه من انحرافات أسلوبية عن مستوى التعبير المعياري؛ لمعرفة التفكير وما وراء الألفاظ التي يمكن تحليلها عبر ما يعرف بالبصمة الأسلوبية (Stylistic Footprint)، وتُظهر نتائج هذا التحليل العملي أن البحث عن بنية الفكر المتطرف المتجسد في بنية خطاب لغوي، جانب مهم في التحقيقات الجنائية؛ للكشف عن إشارات تحذيرية تسبق وقوع عمل من أعمال العنف أو قد تتنبأ به في بعض الحالات، كما تفيد في تطوير روايات مضادة وفعّالة تكون أكثر إقناعًا لمواجهة الخطاب المتطرف، من خلال دراسة السمات الأسلوبية للغة التطرف.This study delves into the linguistic characteristics within the structure of extremist discourse across social media platforms, focusing on a collection of speeches by the Islamic State organization (ISIS). The research aims to uncover the thought process and the underlying meanings that can be analyzed through what is known as the Stylistic Footprint. That is done by examining semantic and syntactic levels, identifying repetitions and intensifications of specific lexical units, and considering their use of rhetorical tools and strategies grounded in their linguistic repertoire—which encompasses connotations and phonetic rhythms, or their deliberate choices in the structure of syntactic relation networks including stylistic deviations from the standard expression level.The findings of this analysis highlight that exploring the extremist thought structure embodied in linguistic discourse is a crucial aspect of criminal investigations. It aids in identifying warning signals that precede or potentially predict acts of violence in some instances. Furthermore, it contributes to developing more convincing counter-narratives to combat extremist discourse by studying the stylistic features of the extremist language
