Evolution of Sustainability and Media Coverage at the 2022 Qatar World Cup: An Analytical Study
No full textبات عامل التنمية المستدامة عنصرًا رئيسيًا في الأحداث الرياضية الكبرى منذ تأسيسها في ثمانينيات القرن العشرين؛ حيث تطورت لتشمل المواضيع ذات الطابع الاجتماعي والاقتصادي والبيئي. وعُدت بطولة كأس العالم قطر 2022، كأول بطولة تستضيفها منطقة الشرق الأوسط، فرصة مميزة لإظهار قطر ثقافتها وتراثها للعالم، كما سمحت للزوار القادمين إلى قطر من جميع أنحاء العالم بالتعرف على أنماط الحياة في الشرق الأوسط والاستمتاع بأجوائها. ورغم ما واجه قطر من انتقادات حول استضافتها لكأس العالم، سواء من طرف وسائل الإعلام الغربية أو من طرف بعض الحكومات ومنظمات الغربية غير الحكومية، حتى أضحت حديث الساعة، فإن الرد عليها قد تجسد في تبني استراتيجية التنمية المستدامة. وعليه، تعمل هذه الورقة على تحليل أطر التنمية المستدامة للشركات الصغيرة والمتوسطة الحديثة، قبل أن تتوصل إلى أن الجزء الأكبر للتغطية الإعلامية كانت مرتكزة على قضايا حقوق الإنسان في كأس العالم في قطر، على عكس الأحداث المعاصرة الأخرى. كما توصلت الدراسة من خلال تحليل محتوى تغطية كأس العالم في وكالات الأنباء العالمية الكبرى إلى تقارير سلبية عن كأس العالم قطر 2022 حول عدة قضايا؛ مثل الفساد وانتهاكات حقوق الإنسان والتعصب تجاه المجتمعات المهمشة. فيما تعتمد الدراسة تطبيق إطار الاستشراق كعامل مساعد في تفسير هذا التفاوت في التغطية الإعلامية لكأس العالم قطر 2022 مقارنة بنظيراتها. وتقدم هذه الورقة بعض الاقتراحات المبدئية للحكومات والهيئات المنظمة للأحداث الرياضية، قصد النظر في اعتمادها بشكل يجعل إطار التنمية المستدامة يستجيب لثقافة الدولة المختلفة واحتياجات بلدان الجنوب أيضًا.Sustainability has become a key component of Sports Mega-Events (SME) since its inception in the 1980s and has evolved to include themes around social, economic, and environmental fronts. The 2022 Qatar World Cup is the first to be hosted in the Middle East, which presented a unique opportunity not only for Qatar to demonstrate its culture and heritage globally but also to allow people from around the world to connect with and share the Middle Eastern way of life. However, the event faced consistent criticism from Western media, governments, and NGOs, which became the key global narrative around the World Cup and reflected in the event’s sustainability strategy. This study first analyzes the sustainability frameworks of recent SMEs and finds an overwhelming focus on human rights issues in the Qatar World Cup, unlike other contemporary events. To understand this phenomenon, a content analysis of the coverage of the World Cup in major global news agencies found largely negative reporting of the event on issues such as corruption, human rights abuses, and intolerance towards marginalized communities. Applying the framework of Orientalism helps explain this disparity, and the paper furthers some tentative suggestions for governments and sports organizing bodies to adopt a sustainable framework, which is culturally responsive and aware of the needs of countries from the Global South

No full textإن تكامل العلوم النفسية والطبيعية هو عملية مستمرة تهدف إلى فهم العقل البشري في سياق العالم الطبيعي. وفي هذا السياق، يقدم رافع الدين إسهامات كبيرة من خلال مفهومه عن الطبيعة البشرية وعلم النفس. مجادلًا في أن الرغبة في المثل العليا هي القوة الحقيقية والنهائية والديناميكية الوحيدة للأفعال البشرية، وأنها لا تجد جذورها في الغرائز؛ بل في شيء متسام وميتافيزيقي. يصف الإنسان بأنه الذات الروحية والأخلاقية التي لديها معرفة فطرية بالخير والشر، ويبني فکرته الخاصة لوصف الطبيعة البشرية في ضوء القرآن الكريم. كما يتناول النظريات المؤثرة لماركس وفرويد وأدلر وماكدوغال بإسهاب، وينقد الأفكار التي ترى أن الطبيعة البشرية تحكمها الغرائز في المقام الأول، معتبرًا أن هذه النظرية تضع الإنسان موضع الحيوان الاجتماعي، وتتجاهل البعد الروحي والأخلاقي للوجود البشري. يقدم خطاب رافع الدين البديل حول دور الغرائز في علم النفس البشري، ودور المثل العليا في فهم الإنسان من منظور خاص. وعليه، يعد عمله إسهامًا محوريًا في النقاش المستمر حول تكامل العلوم النفسية والطبيعية. بناء على ذلك، يهدف البحث إلى دراسة أفكار رافع الدين ومناهجه حول الطبيعة البشرية، وجهوده في الرد على بعض المفكرين المعاصرين.The integration of psychological and natural sciences is an ongoing process that aims to understand the human mind in the context of the natural world. Rafi-ud-Din has made significant contributions to this field with his concept of human nature and psychology. He argues that the urge for ideals is the real, ultimate, and sole dynamic power of human actions, and that it finds its roots not in instincts but in something transcendental and metaphysical. He describes man as a spiritual and moral self that has innate knowledge of good and evil, and builds his own discourse to describe human nature in the light of the Qur’ān. He also addresses the influential theories of Marx, Freud, Adler, and MacDougall at length and critiques the ideas that view human nature as primarily driven by instincts, arguing that this view reduces man to the status of a social animal and ignores the spiritual and moral dimension of human existence. His alternative discourse on the role of instincts in human psychology and the place of transcendent ideals in understanding man offers a unique perspective on this topic, and his work is an important contribution to the ongoing debate on the integration of psychological and natural sciences. This paper aims to study the ideas and approaches of Rafi-ud-Din about Human Nature and his efforts to refute the thoughts of modern thinkers

No full textيقدم هذا البحث نموذجًا نظريًا للفاعلية الإسلامية في العلاقات الدولية، مستخلصًا من مقومات التكليف التي حصرناها في ثلاثية: العلم، والقدرة، والعزم. ويقترح هذا الإسهام أنّ ترتيب المقومات وتفصيلها عبر ما سنشير إليه لاحقًا بــ "منصة التكليف السياسي"؛ يتيح استخدامها كأداة لضبط الإطار النظري، وتفتح المجال لدراسة الفاعلية الإسلامية وإنتاج المعرفة المتعلقة بالسياسة الدوليّة وفق منطلقاتٍ إسلامية "وجودية وقيمية" تكتنف الأبعاد التفسيريّة والمعيارية النقدية. لتحقيق هذا الهدف، وانطلاقًا من خبرة تأملية إسلامية، يقدم البحث نقدًا لنماذج الفاعلية في حقل العلاقات الدولية، سواء تلك الخاصة بالتيار السائد القائمة على نظرية الاختيار العقلاني أو تلك الواعية بتفككها المستندة إلى بقية التيارات الهامشية. كما يوضح البحث مآلات هذه النماذج، التي أحصرها في مساريّ التعقد (Complexity) والتفكيك (Deconstruction)، اللذين يتقاطعان لينتجا رؤى ما بعد الإنسانوية. على أن يقدم مآل الانحدار نحو ما بعد الإنسانوية باعتباره تقاطعًا لاستكبار علمي ينتهي بالتعقد، واستكبار قيمي ينتهي بالتفكيك.This article provides an Islamic-based account of agency in International Relations, grounded in the Islamic concept of Taklif. It suggests that a more flexible approach to Taklif reveals three key components: Knowledge, Capabilities, and Resolve. Additionally, the article contextualizes this Islamic understanding of agency within the discipline of International Relations, showing that current agential theories increasingly anticipate posthumanist notions of agency. This shift tends to diminish human qualities and exceptionalism, which are emphasized by Islamic beliefs. The article traces the process of dehumanizing agency in International Relations theory, highlighting complexity and deconstruction as distinct trajectories that intersect to explain this posthumanist trend. Finally, the article proposes an Islamic account of agency based on Taklif as an alternative path

No full textيهدف المقال إلى الخوض في الجدل الراهن حول المقاربة البينية للعلوم من خلال مناقشة العلاقة الإشكالية بين الحتمية البيولوجية التي تقرّ بالتحديد الجيني للسلوك البشري الفردي أو الجماعي وبين الحتمية الاجتماعية التي تنفي بيولوجية السلوك الاجتماعي؛ إذ يتناول الإشكالية الآتية: كيف يمكن للدراسة البينية لحقلي السوسيولوجيا والبيولوجيا أن تقدّم معرفة تكاملية بين معقولية العلوم الصحيحة ومعقولية العلوم الاجتماعية رغم اختلاف الأسس الإبستمولوجية؟ على أنّ إشكاليتنا قادتنا إلى طرح أسئلة إشكالية فرعية صغناها في توجّهين بحثيين مركزيين ناقشناهما من خلال أمثلة متنوّعة من الدراسات ذات الصلة. وقد اعتمد المقال المنهج التاريخي لفهم وتحليل التطوّرات والتحوّلات التي عرفتها العلاقة بين البيولوجيا وعلم الاجتماع، واستند إلى المنهج الكيفي عند التحليل النقدي لأمثلة من دراسات ناقشت إشكالية نفسها، من أجل تبيان ما انتهت إليه هذه الطروحات من نتائج تكشف التفاعل النظري أو المنهجي بين هذين الحقلين في مقاربة مدى مقبولية القول بالجين الثقافي في محاكاة للوراثة البيولوجية. ولعلّ أبرز استنتاج يتجلّى في أنّ فهم التداخل بين العوامل البيولوجية والثقافية في انتقال الخصائص السلوكية بين الأجيال يُعدّ مجال بحث متطوّر أعاد فرض أهمية الخوض فيه حديثًا خارج منطق التخصّص. لذلك فإنّ فكّ غموضها يتطلّب تضافر الكثير من الدراسات لإثبات العلاقات بين هذه العوامل. ذلك أنّ التفاعل بين الوراثة الجينية والإرث الثقافي يشتغل بكيفيات مختلفة تزيد من تعقيد التكامل البيولوجي النفسي والاجتماعي لتفسير الظواهر السلوكية وانتقال الخصائص الثقافية.In this study, we raise the following questions: How can the interdisciplinary study of sociology and biology bridge the gap between the rationality of the natural sciences and the rationality of the social sciences, despite their differing epistemological foundations? These questions have led us to identify smaller sub-problems within two primary research directions, which we illustrate using examples from relevant studies. Our research employs a historical approach to analyze the historical developments and transformations in the relationship between biology and sociology. Additionally, we utilize a qualitative methodology, incorporating critical analysis techniques on examples from studies addressing the same issue, in order to demonstrate the theoretical and methodological interaction between these two fields when assessing the validity of the cultural gene hypothesis as a model for biological inheritance. One of the key conclusions drawn from our research is that understanding the interplay between biological and cultural factors in the transmission of behavioral traits across generations represents a continually evolving research field that has recently gained significance beyond specialized areas of study. Consequently, unraveling the intricacies of this phenomenon necessitates a convergence of multiple studies aimed at establishing the connections between these factors. This complexity arises because the interaction between genetic inheritance and cultural heritage operates through various mechanisms, thereby increasing the complexity of integrating psychological and social biological aspects in explaining behavioral phenomena and the transmission of cultural traits
