Golfstaterne er gentagne gange blevet kritiseret for at være kongerne af greenwashing. Selvom kritikken er berettiget, er situationen mere kompleks, skriver Sune Haugbølle
Surgery-related change in cancer cell adhesion associates with recurrence in patients undergoing colorectal cancer surgery
Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the effect of pre- and postoperative serum on the adhesion of cultured colon cancer cells and their relationship with colorectal cancer recurrence. Background: Colorectal cancer is common, and surgery is the primary treatment choice. However, surgical procedures may be associated with an increased risk of recurrence. Method: 434 patients undergoing curatively intended colorectal cancer surgery at Copenhagen University Hospital, Herlev, Denmark, between July 15, 2014, and March 31, 2019, were included in the study. Pre- and postoperative serum samples were collected, and the effect on cellular adhesion was analyzed using a novel high-throughput approach based on CRISPR/Cas9 modified Caco-2 cells and secreted luciferase, named the AdhesionScore assay. The relative risk of postoperative recurrence was estimated using Cox proportional regression analysis. Results: The difference in adhesion between modified Caco-2 cells seeded in the pre- and postoperative serum showed a significant increase in postoperative adhesion in patients with a recurrence event (p=0.0293). Modeling the adhesion data using multiple logistic regression and Cox proportional regression analyses showed a statistically significant association between increased postoperative adhesion and recurrence (p=0.0155 and p=0.0126, respectively). Patients with the highest AdhesionScore showed the greatest risk of recurrence (HR=7, 95% CI 1.6-37.8, p=0.0130). Conclusions: The study found that a difference in the adhesion of Caco-2 cells seeded in pre- and postoperative serum was associated with cancer recurrence following intended curative surgery. This suggests that increased postoperative adhesion may serve as a novel biological marker of recurrence in patients undergoing surgery for colorectal cancer
The Daydreams of Transgender persons: What can daydreams tell us about transgender persons experience of gender dysphoria and their relationship to their own person?
This Master-thesis draws upon Lars J. Sørensen’s book Skam - Medfødt og tillært from 2013 and Mikkel Thorup’s book Mange Mænd from 2023 to analyse how daydreams affect transgender persons mental health and how it relates to their experience of gender identity. These works are used to analyse how different ways of looking at a person influence transgender persons’ feeling of (or escapism from) gender dysphoria and how both shameful and loving looks from other people and themselves shape the transgender person’s self-conceptualization within the world of daydreams and in real life. Symbolic interactionism works as the theoretic foundation for this study and the inquiry uses a netnographic interactive approach including individual semi-structured interviews performed with five transgendered persons: three transmen, one transwoman, and one non-binary/genderqueer person. This study concludes that: 1) daydreams of transgender persons can function as a fictional world, where they get the opportunity to experience themselves as cisgender persons and therefore experience a state of gender euphoria as they experience their body in accordance with their gender identity; 2) daydreams give transgender persons the opportunity to construct a version of themselves where they possess the gender trait they long for, and in real life feel gender dysphoric about; 3) the transgender person’s experience of how other people judge them - or imagine they will judge them - will influence their experience of gender dysphoria; 4) there might be a correlation between sexuality and gender identity, if the transgender person experience, or believe, that other people have stereotypical expectation to relationships and gender norms, which can lead to the transgender person feeling gender dysphoric or gender euphoric in certain romantic relations; 5) daydreams can function as a safe space that offers a safe environment where transgender persons can mirror themselves in a loving way, which happens by constructing the way they are viewed by others in their fictional world; 6) daydreams can also become maladaptive when transgender persons evaluate their own person in a bad way against the daydream-version of themselves, leading to an unhealthy relationship to their own self
Evaluating the Impact of Various Performance Management Techniques on Employee Performance Improvement in the Call Center Department of The City Bank PLC.
The purpose of this research paper is to assess the effectiveness of some of the performancemanagement practices in enhancing the performance of call center department of The CityBank PLC. Present study uses qualitative interviews to gather data from employees andsupervisors. One research niche that was perceived was the lack of studies on how specificleadership methodologies can combine with certain performance management procedures toimpact motivation and job satisfaction in counterpressure work environments such as callcenters. The study shows that most performance management practices; feedback and /orreward-based systems contribute to a high-performance workforce and resultant increasedcustomer satisfaction. Moreover, integration of transformational and transactional leadershippatterns was seen to lead to a more committed workforce, hence enhanced service delivery. Adiscussion of the findings of the study reveals that though performance management practiceis implemented there are mismatches between these practices and the initiatives aimed atenhancing the well-being of employees. They also recommend combining staffencouragement strategies with results orientation application to enhance methods of staffencouragement. Besides, the research recommends the development of further studies onevaluating the lasting impacts of these integrated strategies concerning the employee turnoverand organizational performance in the banking industry. This study adds a wealth ofknowledge into performance management in, call centers especially the importance ofachieving agile efficiency together with employees’ satisfaction
