Good Practices in Building and Functioning of Talent Management System for the E-Marketplace Segment
No full textCel | Celem artykułu jest wskazanie dobrych praktyk w zakresie budowy i funkcjonowania systemu zarządzani talentami w segmencie internetowych platform handlowych (e-marketplaces). Metoda badań | Wykorzystano analizę danych zastanych (desk research) oraz studium przypadku (single case study). Wnioski | Analiza studium przypadku badanego przedsiębiorstwa potwierdziła, że znane z teorii założenia i zasady systemu zarządzania talentami znajdują zastosowanie w realiach gospodarki cyfrowej. Jednakże ze względu na specyficzne cechy wirtualnego otoczenia, przejawiające się poprzez dynamikę zmian, wysoką konkurencyjność i globalizację, rośnie znaczenie kompetencyjnego i organizacyjnego przygotowania przedsiębiorstwa do sprawnego i skutecznego prowadzenia systemu zarządzania talentami. Oryginalność / wartość / implikacje / rekomendacje | Na podstawie przeprowadzonej analizy studium przypadku wskazano dobre praktyki w zakresie budowy i prowadzenia systemu zarządzania talentami w przedsiębiorstwie Modivo SA, uwzględniające specyfikę funkcjonowania w gospodarce cyfrowej. Badania stanowią też głos w dyskusji w zakresie badań nad zarządzaniem utalentowanymi ludźmi w organizacji, w szczególności w kontekście coraz większego nasycenia organizacji systemami przetwarzania danych i sztucznej inteligencji.Purpose | The purpose of the article is to indicate good practices in the field of building and functioning of a talent management system in the online marketplace segment (e-marketplaces). Research method | Desk research and single case study methods were used. Results | The analysis of the studied company confirmed that the assumptions and principles of the talent management program known from theory are applicable in the digital economy. However, due to the specific features of the virtual environment, manifested by the dynamics of change, high competitiveness, and globalisation, the competency and organisational preparation of the enterprise to maintain the talent management program, are becoming more important. Originality / value / implications / recommendations | Based on the analysis of the case study, good practices were identified in the development of a talent management system at Modivo SA, taking into account the specifics of functioning in the digital economy. Palimpsests of Space, or the Need for Different Maps: The Case of a Cinematic Educational Walk
No full textThe article explores urban space as a palimpsest in which traces of the past—particularly the Jewish heritage of Białystok—are obscured, erased,
or intangible. Drawing on the co-author’s project The Dreamed History of Cinema in Podlasie, it proposes the creation of a “cinematic mental map” as a basis for an educational film walk. This map does not reflect the city’s geographical layout but rather its layers of memory, emotion, and narrative tied to specific figures and cinematic events. The paper reflects on the map as a storytelling tool and on the memory landscape as a cultural construct. Pharmaceutical lobbying in European Union law from the Polish perspective
No full textRozprawa doktorska została poświęcona problematyce lobbingu farmaceutycznego w prawie Unii Europejskiej z perspektywy Polski. Rozprawa doktorska została podzielona na cztery rozdziały. Pierwszy rozdział dotyczy funkcjonowania lobbingu farmaceutycznego w instytucjach Unii Europejskiej. Drugi rozdział dotyczy lobbingu farmaceutycznego w prawie Unii Europejskiej. W tej części zidentyfikowano podstawy prawne lobbingu farmaceutycznego w UE, przeanalizowano Porozumienia międzyinstytucjonalnego z dnia 20 maja 2021 r. pomiędzy Parlamentem Europejskim, Radą Unii Europejskiej i Komisją Europejską w sprawie obowiązkowego rejestru służącego przejrzystości w kontekście lobbingu farmaceutycznego. W tym rozdziale przeanalizowano też dane dotyczące EFPIA. Trzeci rozdział dotyczy lobbing farmaceutyczny w prawie krajowym państw członkowskich Unii Europejskiej na przykładzie Polski. W rozdziale dokonano identyfikacji oraz analizy polskich regulacji dotyczących lobbingu farmaceutycznego. W ostatnim rozdziale rozprawy dokonano oceny regulacji lobbingu farmaceutycznego na poziomie krajowym – na przykładzie Polski – na tle oceny regulacji lobbingu farmaceutycznego na poziomie unijnym. W zakończeniu zawarto wnioski oraz zweryfikowano postawione we wstępie hipotezy.The doctoral dissertation was devoted to the issue of pharmaceutical lobbying in European Union law from the Polish perspective. The doctoral dissertation was divided into four chapters. The first chapter concerns the functioning of pharmaceutical lobbying in the European Union institutions. The second chapter concerns pharmaceutical lobbying in European Union law. This section identifies the legal basis for pharmaceutical lobbying in the EU and analyzes the Interinstitutional Agreement of 20 May 2021 between the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union and the European Commission on a mandatory transparency register in the context of pharmaceutical lobbying. This chapter also analyzes EFPIA data. The third chapter concerns pharmaceutical lobbying in the national law of European Union Member States on the example of Poland. The chapter identifies and analyzes Polish regulations regarding pharmaceutical lobbying. The last chapter of the dissertation assessed the regulation of pharmaceutical lobbying at the national level - on the example of Poland - against the background of the assessment of the regulation of pharmaceutical lobbying at the EU level. Understanding The Evolution of Consumer Behaviour Research During The Covid-19 Pandemic: A Bibliometric Analysis
Full text linkPurpose - This article aims to examine the current state of research on consumer behaviour during the COVID 19 pandemic through bibliometric analysis and a critical review of the literature. By identifying key thematic clusters, emerging trends, and research gaps, the study aims to evaluate the scope of knowledge in this area.
Research method - In this paper, bibliometric analysis was used as a research method, supplemented by content analysis of literature selected from the Scopus database. The authors also carried out a keyword co occurrence analysis using VOSviewer software.
Results - The bibliometric analysis revealed that most publications on consumer behaviour during the COVID 19 pandemic concerned the hospitality sector. Five clusters were identified: (1) Digital consumption and trade, (2) Consumer attitudes and risk perceptions, (3) Buying behaviour, risk perceptions, and technology, (4) Protective motivation, and (5) Short term rental. Research topics evolved from social distancing and health concerns to e-commerce and digital technologies.
Originality / value / implications / recommendations - Publications on consumer behaviour during the coronavirus pandemic continually emerge, necessitating knowledge updates. Protection of the Family in Latvia: Recent Developments
Full text linkThis article examines the development of the understanding of the concept of the family in Latvia during the last few years, and reflects the contribution made by the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Latvia to the development of this concept. The article analyses the judgment of the Constitutional Court of 12 November 2020 (case no. 2019–33-01), in which the legislature was determined to regulate the legal relations of same-sex partners (families) and provide for the economic and social protection of all families. The article outlines the problems that were encountered during the execution of this judgment and the constitutional mechanisms with which the conservative parties represented in the
Parliament tried to delay the entry into force of the law. Finally, the authors reflect on the changes in the regulatory acts that entered into force on 1 July 2024 introducing the regulation of partnership relations in Latvia, i.e. providing that adult persons will be allowed to register their partnership or cohabitation in accordance with the procedure established by law (a right which will apply also to same-sex partners). The Judgment in the Case of Przybyszewska and Others v. Poland against the Background of the ECtHR’s Jurisprudence in Cases of Same-Sex Couples
Full text linkOn 12 December 2023, the European Court of Human Rights issued a judgment ordering Poland to institutionalize relationships between same-sex couples. This judgment was a consequence of a well-established line of jurisprudence and the application of the evolutionary doctrine of interpretation of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms as a living instrument. The judgment in Przybyszewska and Others v. Poland is the first in this matter issued in relation to Poland, and the next in which the court’s line of jurisprudence on the issue of same-sex couples has been defined. It is an important signal for such couples in Poland and indicates the existence of a general Strasbourg standard developed in recent years. In the judgment issued in relation to Poland, the European Court of Human Rights explicitly stated that the current legal status in the country in relation to same-sex couples does not meet the Strasbourg minimum specified in Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms. It took the European Court of Human Rights three decades to extend protection to cohabiting couples under the right to family life, and another three to adopt the obligation to legally recognize and protect same-sex unions. Institutional determinants of economic development on the example of EU economies
No full textPrzedmiotem badań był rozwój krajów należących do Unii Europejskiej. Problemem badawczym podjętym w pracy była znaczna skala nierówności rozwojowych występujących pomiędzy gospodarkami UE, a także niskie tempo rozwoju unijnych gospodarek potransformacyjnych.Na podstawie pogłębionej analizy literatury wybrano pięć instytucji o potencjalnie największym znaczeniu. Były to: prawa własności, regulatory działalności gospodarczej, należące do podsystemu instytucji formalnych; skłonność do zdobywania wiedzy, skłonność do oszczędzania, zaufanie społeczne, które można zaliczyć do grupy instytucji nieformalnych. W pracy ujawniono pozytywne związki wymienionych instytucji z rozwojem gospodarczym. Ponadto, skonstruowano, a także zweryfikowano, hierarchiczny model PLS-SEM, który ujawnił między innymi, że jakość instytucji silnie, pozytywnie i istotnie statystycznie oddziałuje na poziom rozwoju gospodarczego w krajach UE-27, zarówno w roku 2007, jak i 2019.Uzyskane wyniki analizy empirycznej pozostają w zgodzie z wnioskami sformułowanymi na podstawie utworzonych ciągów przyczynowo skutkowych, a także przytoczonymi badaniami empirycznymi innych naukowców. Na tej podstawie można przypuszczać, że związek instytucji i rozwoju ma nie tylko charakter relacji korelacyjnej, ale także przyczynowej.The subject of the study was the development of the EU economies. The research problem undertaken in the study was the significant scale of development inequalities occurring among EU economies, as well as the low rate of development of EU post- transitional economies. On the basis of an in-depth analysis of the literature, five institutions of potentially the greatest importance were selected. These were: property rights, business regulators, belonging to the subsystem of formal institutions; propensity to acquire knowledge, propensity to save, and social trust, which can be categorized as informal institutions. The paper reveals the positive relationship of the mentioned institutions with economic development. In addition, a hierarchical PLS-SEM model was constructed, and also verified, which revealed, among other things, that the quality of institutions strongly, positively and statistically significantly affects the level of economic development in the EU-27 countries, both in 2007 and 2019. The obtained results of the empirical analysis are in line with the conclusions formulated on the basis of the created causal sequences, as well as the cited empirical studies of other researchers. On this basis, it can be assumed that the relationship between institutions and development is not only a correlative relationship, but also a causal one.Uniwersytet w Białymstoku.
