Not just Lithuania. On the need to study the image of the world in the works of Mickiewicz: Ukrainian themes. Close examination
No full textThe article is an introduction to the monograph Adam Mickiewicz and Ukraine. Studies. It analyses the history of the cultural and literary stereotype that traditionally links Adam Mickiewicz (1798–1855) and his poetry with Lithuania, the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and Vilnius. As the article points out, Mickiewicz became acquainted with Ukrainian historical and poetic themes from his youth in Vilnius through Stanisław Trembecki (c. 1739–1812) and his poem Sofijówka, to which Mickiewicz wrote Explanations. The author of the paper also outlines the circumstances of the organisation of the Polish-Ukrainian session on 22 September 2022, planned from 2020 in connection with the Year of Polish Romanticism (1822–2022) announced by the Sejm, but held a few months after Russia’s aggression against Ukraine on 24 February 2022. No full textAleksandra Zasuszanka-Dobrowolska znana jest jako twórczyni trzech muzeów biograficznych poświęconych Henrykowi Sienkiewiczowi, Janowi Kochanowskiemu i Stefanowi Żeromskiemu. Mimo to nie doczekała się jak dotąd pełnego opracowania biograficznego. Wiele aspektów jej życia wciąż pozostaje na zupełnym marginesie zainteresowań badaczy, w tym twórczość, zwłaszcza ta, skupiona wokół lirycznych form ekspresji. Wśród nich swoiste opus magnum stanowią słowa pieśni Marsza Lotników. Z lotniczą pasją Zasuszanki-Dobrowolskiej wiąże się również jej zaszczytna funkcja matki chrzestnej sztandaru Polskich Sił Zbrojnych na Zachodzie, której dostąpiła podczas drugiej wojny światowej. Dzięki zachowanym materiałom źródłowym, w tym szczególnie cennemu archiwum rodzinnemu, udało się stworzyć biografię pretekstową bohaterki, wpisując ją w szeroki kontekst wydarzeń politycznych i przemian społeczno-gospodarczych XX w.Aleksandra Zasuszanka-Dobrowolska became renowned for establishing three biographical museums dedicated to Henryk Sienkiewicz, Jan Kochanowski, and Stefan Żeromski. However, only a few aspects of
her life are widely known today. On the complete margins of researchers’ interest, her works remain, especially those focused on lyrical forms of expression. Among these, the lyrics of the song March of the Arimen stand out as her magnum opus. Zasuszanka-Dobrowolska’s passion for aviation is also linked to her honoured role as godmother of the banner of the Polish Armed Forces in the West. The usability of grammatical information in translation dictionaries with Russian and Polish (based on the example of notation of past tense forms)
No full textW niniejszym artykule poruszana jest kwestia użyteczności informacji gramatycznej w słownikach przekładowych z językiem rosyjskim i polskim. Zaproponowana została funkcjonalna klasyfikacja rosyjskich leksemów czasownikowych ze względu na formy czasu przeszłego w aspekcie leksykograficznym, a następnie przeprowadzona została analiza rozwiązań w tym względzie w trzech wielkich słownikach przekładowych ze
wskazanymi językami. Badanie wykazuje przypadki niedostatecznej i niekonsekwentnej notacji form czasu przeszłego.This article focuses on the question of the usability of grammatical information in Russian and Polish translation dictionaries. A functional classification of Russian verb lexemes based on their past tense forms within a lexicographic context has been proposed, followed by an analysis of the solutions in three major translation dictionaries with the indicated languages. Analysis of selected physicochemical and biological properties of in vitro models modified with polystyrene particles
No full textW ostatnich latach mikro- i nanocząstki polimerowe zyskały dużą uwagę badaczy ze względu na swoje unikalne właściwości oraz wszechstronne zastosowanie w różnych gałęziach przemysłu. Jednocześnie ich obecność w środowisku wiąże się z poważnymi zagrożeniami dla zdrowia ludzkiego i ekosystemów. Brakuje jednak wystarczających danych naukowych dotyczących ich wpływu na organizmy. Dlatego kluczową rolę w badaniach odgrywają modele in vitro, które umożliwiają realizację eksperymentów w kontrolowanych warunkach. Podstawę niniejszej pracy doktorskiej stanowiły analizy z wykorzystaniem modeli in vitro: linii komórkowych (nowotworów ludzkich oraz pochodzenia szczurzego), elementów morfotycznych krwi świni (erytrocytów oraz trombocytów), a także mikroorganizmów (bakterii Gram-dodatnich, bakterii Gram-ujemnych i drożdżaków). Celem dysertacji była ocena wpływu cząstek polistyrenowych, uwzględniająca ich rozmiar, stężenie, funkcjonalizację powierzchni oraz czas oddziaływania na komórki, na właściwości fizykochemiczne i biologiczne modeli in vitro. Pierwsze przeprowadzone eksperymenty pozwoliły na określenie stabilności cząstek w zastosowanych roztworach; badania obejmowały charakterystykę struktury (technika FTIR) oraz rozmiaru (metoda DLS) polistyrenu. Kolejne badania dotyczyły wpływu cząstek polistyrenowych na właściwości modeli in vitro. Testy MTT (w przypadku linii komórkowych) oraz MIC i MBC (w przypadku mikroorganizmów) posłużyły do oceny cytotoksyczności cząstek wobec komórek. Metodę ELS wykorzystano podczas rejestracji wartości potencjału zeta. Ponadto, do zobrazowania zmian zachodzących w strukturze bakterii i drożdżaków poddanych działaniu polistyrenu zastosowano techniki mikroskopowe – AFM i SEM. Przeprowadzone w ramach rozprawy doktorskiej badania wykazały, że właściwości fizykochemiczne i biologiczne modeli in vitro ulegają zmianom zależnym od stężenia, rozmiaru, funkcjonalizacji powierzchni polistyrenu oraz czasu ekspozycji komórek na te cząstki. Interakcje cząstek z komórkami mogły obejmować niespecyficzne ścieżki, takie jak dyfuzja, kanały transbłonowe, siły hydratacyjne, siły van der Waalsa, oddziaływania elektrostatyczne czy międzycząsteczkowe. Uzyskane wyniki dostarczają informacji o wpływie cząstek polistyrenowych na procesy zachodzące w organizmach żywych. Mogą one znaleźć zastosowanie w opracowywaniu nowatorskich strategii terapeutycznych oraz w rozwijaniu metod gospodarowania odpadami z tworzyw polimerowych.In recent years, polymeric micro- and nanoparticles have attracted significant attention from researchers due to their unique properties and versatile applications in various industrial sectors. Concurrently, their environmental presence poses serious risks to human health and ecosystems. However, sufficient scientific data regarding their impact on organisms is lacking. Therefore, in vitro models play a crucial role in research, enabling experiments to be conducted under controlled conditions. This doctoral dissertation was based on analyses performed using in vitro models: cell lines (human cancer cells and rat-derived cells), pig blood morphotic elements (erythrocytes and thrombocytes), as well as microorganisms (Gram-positive bacteria, Gram-negative bacteria, and yeasts). The dissertation aimed to evaluate the impact of polystyrene particles, considering their size, concentration, surface functionalization, and exposure time on cells, on the physicochemical and biological properties of selected in vitro models. The initial experiments determined the stability of the particles in the applied solutions, including the characterization of the polystyrene structure (using FTIR spectroscopy) and size (using the DLS method). Subsequent studies focused on the analysis of selected in vitro models. MTT assays (for cell lines) and MIC and MBC tests (for microorganisms) were employed to evaluate the cytotoxicity of the particles towards cells. The ELS method was utilized to record changes in the in vitro models' zeta potential after their polystyrene treatment. Furthermore, microscopic techniques- AFM and SEM- were applied to visualize the changes occurring in the structure of bacteria and yeasts subjected to polystyrene exposure. The research conducted as part of this doctoral dissertation demonstrated that the physicochemical and biological properties of in vitro models change depending on the concentration, size, surface functionalization of polystyrene particles, and duration of cellular exposure to these particles. Interactions between the particles and cells could involve nonspecific pathways such as diffusion, transmembrane channels, hydration forces, van der Waals forces, and electrostatic or intermolecular interactions. The obtained results provide information on the effects of polystyrene particles on processes occurring in living organisms. The Legal Entity Identifier and Legacy Systems: Harmonisation, Interoperability, and Balance in Digital Governance
No full textThis article examines the Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) as a cornerstone of contemporary digitalised governance. Originally introduced in response to the 2008 financial crisis to address systemic opacity in financial markets, the LEI has since evolved into a global public-good infrastructure that
enables interoperability, transparency, and accountability across jurisdictions and sectors. This study investigates the extent to which the LEI can be effectively implemented in Poland and the European Union, and what legal, institutional, and economic barriers constrain its universal adoption. The research employs a multi-method design, combining doctrinal and comparative analysis with empirical evidence from European supervisory projects (the EIOPA, ESMA, ECB, and EBA) and a Polish case study conducted under an NCN project on tax administration. Findings confirm that the LEI strengthens systemic risk monitoring, audit quality, and SME participation in global trade, but also reveal persistent barriers, including renewal costs, administrative burdens, and fragmented domestic identifiers. The analysis identifies four pillars of reform – universality, interoperability, continuity, and public co-financing – necessary to embed the LEI within governance systems. Comparative lessons from the United States and Japan demonstrate that statutory identifiers can extend beyond finance and support innovation while oversight is maintained. No full textMatrona z Perge w Pamfilii żyła na przełomie V i VI w. Najbardziej znana jest z tego, że spędziła 3 lata w przebraniu eunucha w męskim klasztorze w Konstantynopolu. Podczas gdy jej inne osiągnięcia – jak założenie pierwszego podwójnego klasztoru w Konstantynopolu czy też udział obok igumenów męskich klasztorów w opozycji wobec polityki religijnej cesarza Anastazjusza I – jak dotąd nie zostały zbadane w literaturze naukowej.Matron of Perge in Pamphylia, lived in the late fifth and early sixth centuries. The Impact of AI‑Based Tools on Competitiveness and Sustainability in Niche Sectors: A Case Study of Local Drying Enterprises
No full textPurpose | The aim is to explore the potential applications of AI in both competitive analysis and sustainability improvement within a selected local construction industry sector, with a particular focus on niche markets such as drying services. The theoretical contribution of this study is to demonstrate novel applications of AI in strategic management, thereby extending the existing approaches by incorporating the utilisation of analytical tools to support decision-making processes, based on a selected type of software (Local SEO Software). Research method | This research employs a case study methodology to examine the uti lisation of AI for competitive analysis and sustainability among enterprises, with a particular focus on small and medium-sized enterprises operating in the drying ¬services sector. The study combines quantitative data with qualitative insights to assess how AI-driven tools can enhance competitiveness and sustainability. Results | The findings of this study ascertain whether AI tools (Localo) facilitate a more precise comprehension of the competitive dynamics within the selected companies. It was feasible to discern local competitors and their conduct in terms of competing for visibility on the Google. The research indicates that the utilisation of AI-enabled insights enables local companies to optimise their market visibility, which is a crucial factor in sectors that rely heavily on high-energy processes, such as drying. Originality / value / implications / recommendations | This article contributes to the growing body of literature on strategic management by examining the dual role of AI in fostering competitive advantage and sustainability, particularly in niche markets that have been relatively underexplored. The Canon of the Matins of Holy Saturday – Translation and Theological-Philological Analysis
No full textThis article presents a complete Polish translation of the Canon of the Matins of Holy Saturday from the original Greek, alongside a comparative analysis with the Church Slavonic version found
in the Anthologion of Mateusz the Tenth. The aim of the study is to offer a theological and philological examination of the canon in the context of its biblical and patristic sources, and to compare the
Slavonic translation with the Greek original. The introduction briefly outlines the origins of the canon as a liturgical genre and discusses the attributed authorship of the individual odes of the Holy
Saturday canon. The main body of the article analyzes each irmos and troparion, highlighting their connection to biblical canticles and to the Christological symbolism of the poetic imagery. The findings indicate that the canon, through its numerous references to the Scripture and to the teachings of the Church Fathers, also served an important didactic function. The philological analysis demonstrates the high quality and accuracy of the Church Slavonic translation in the Anthologion of Mateusz the Tenth.Artykuł zawiera kompletny przekład kanonu jutrzni Wielkiej Soboty z języka greckiego na język polski, zestawiony z cerkiewnosłowiańską wersją zawartą w Antologionie Mateusza Dziesiątego. Celem pracy jest analiza teologiczno-filologiczna tego utworu w kontekście jego źródeł biblijnych i patrystycznych oraz porównanie przekładu cerkiewnosłowiańskiego z greckim oryginałem. We wstępie omówiono genezę gatunku kanonu i przypisywane autorstwo poszczególnych pieśni kanonu Wielkiej Soboty. Główna część artykułu zawiera analizę każdego irmosu i troparionu, ukazując ich związek z pieśniami biblijnymi oraz chrystologiczną symbolikę obecnych w nich obrazów poetyckich. Wnioski wskazują, że kanon, dzięki licznym odniesieniom do Pisma Świętego i nauczania Ojców Kościoła, pełnił również funkcję dydaktyczną.
