The Posthumous Life of Dr. Mabuse
No full textDr. Mabuse, master of crime and No.1 enemy of society, was invented as fictional character by Luxembourgian writer Norbert Jacques in his novel from 1921. Char-acter of Mabuse inspired great German director Fritz Lang to make three films. In the first one, Dr. Mabuse, der Spieler (1922), he is powerful criminal figure, de-stroying social and economic life of young Weimar Republic and could be per-ceived as an allegory of German inflation at the beginning of 1920-s. Caught, how-ever, by general attorney Von Wenk, in the final of film is placed in psychiatric asylum. In Lang’s sequel Das Testament des Dr. Mabuse (1933) Mabuse in the halfof film dies as physical person in psychiatric clinic of Professor Baum. However, hebecomes by fact of his death the more dangerous as immaterial and abstract Idea ofEvil which could be incarnated in everyone. The third and last Lang’s Mabuse film,Die 1000 Augen des Dr. Mabuse (1960) is at the same time the first one of Mabuseseries produced by Arthur Brauner for his Berlin company CCC-Filmkunst.Brauner’s series consists of 7 films (including Lang’s last work) made in the decade1960–1970. Brazylijska reforma zasad dotyczących cen transferowych – zgodność ze standardami Organizacji Europejskiej Współpracy Gospodarczej
No full textThe article analyses the international context that led to a broad reform of Brazilian domestic legislation on transfer pricing. The former Brazilian transfer pricing legislation (1996) lacked compliance with the comparability analysis and the arms’ length principle. The new legislation, published in 2023, adopted the Organisation’s for European Economic Cooperation (OECD) guidelines on the subject. One important issue that may arise from implementing the new rules and the comparability analysis in Brazil is the relative lack of databases on the subject.Artykuł zawiera analizę kontekstu międzynarodowego, który doprowadził do szeroko zakrojonej reformy brazylijskiego ustawodawstwa krajowego w zakresie cen transferowych. Poprzednie brazylijskie przepisy dotyczące cen transferowych (1996) nie były zgodne z analizą porównywalności i zasadą ceny rynkowej. Opublikowane w 2023 roku. nowe przepisy przyjęły wytyczne Organizacji Europejskiej Współpracy Gospodarczej (OECD) w tym zakresie. Ważną kwestią, która może wiązać się z wdrożeniem nowych przepisów i analizy porównywalności w Brazylii, jest względny brak baz danych na ten temat
Certification at the turn of the century – in the light of several conferences from 20 years ago
No full textThe text is devoted to the beginnings of the development of the certification system in Poland. The author recalls discussions from the end of the 20th century, paying particular attention to considerations on the validity of testing the knowledge of cultural issues. She mentions four conferences, three of which were organised in cooperation with glottodidacticians from Germany, the Czech Republic, and Ukraine. She points out the twofold nature of these conferences: the exchange of experiences and the instructional nature of some presentations, whose aim was to facilitate certification activities in the Czech Republic and Ukraine. She emphasises that such activities had a consolidating and integrative effect on the Polish glottodidactic community.Tekst poświęcony jest początkom rozwoju systemu certyfikacji w Polsce. Autorka przywołuje dyskusje z końca XX w., zwracając szczególną uwagę na rozważania dotyczące zasadności testowania znajomości zagadnień kulturowych. Wspomina o czterech konferencjach, z których trzy zostały zorganizowane we współpracy z glottodydaktykami z Niemiec, Czech i Ukrainy. Zwraca uwagę na dwojaki charakter tych konferencji: wymianę doświadczeń oraz instruktażowy charakter niektórych wystąpień, których celem było ułatwienie działań certyfikacyjnych w Czechach i w Ukrainie. Podkreśla, że takie działania miały konsolidujący i integrujący wpływ na polskie środowisko glottodydaktyczne

Prezentowany temat stanowi część badań prowadzonych na potrzeby rozprawy doktorskiej przygotowywanej na Uniwersytecie Łódzkim. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie wybranych wyników przeszukiwania baz danych. Są one podstawą do wyboru publikacji służących skonkretyzowaniu luki badawczej oraz zawężenia problemu badawczego na potrzeby dalszych badań naukowych.This article is devoted to a bibliometric analysis prepared on the basis of a review of the Scopus and Science Direct databases. The topic presented is part of the research conducted for the needs of a doctoral dissertation prepared at the University of Lodz. The aim is to present selected results from the database searches as a basis for the selection of publications serving to specify a research gap and narrow the research issue for the needs of further academic work
Primary World Fantasy
No full textThis article is an attempt to discuss the issue of Primary World fantasy, fantasy set in the world we can identify as ours, which has so far been mostly absent in academic discourse. At the same time another type of fantasy, Secondary World fantasy, has already been widely described by researchers, such as Krzysztof M. Maj or Grzegorz Trębicki, who paid attention to its mostly allotopic, exomimetic character. As a result of my analysis of academic discourse I attempt to define Primary World as a concept, noticing the need for seeing an opposition of Primary World and Secondary World as a spectrum, not something binary. I also tried to find a conventional border between them, which allows for the categorization of known genres of fantasy as Primary or Secondary World fantasy. After that I present de Lint’s consensus reality and Clute’s wainscot society as one of the many possible models of Primary World fantasy and define ways in which it differs from typical Secondary World fantasy. This model is popular in urban fantasy, contemporary fantasy and a few other genres. In this way I attempt to show this category of fantasy as entirely different than typical, allotropic Secondary World Fantasy that we all think the most often about when we talk about fantasy
