Dane stanowią zebrany materiał empiryczny wykorzystany w ramach badania wstępnego/pilotażowego, realizowanego na potrzeby projektu finansowanego przez Narodowe Centrum Nauki (MINIATURA). Zbiór może stanowić materiał do dalszych analiz z zakresu ustnego dyskursu sądowego, w szczególności języka praktyki prawniczej obrońców w postępowaniu karnym. Wszystkie dane zostały poddane pełnej anonimizacji i nie zawierają informacji umożliwiających identyfikację osób ani konkretnych spraw.The dataset contains anonymized notes taken during court hearings in criminal proceedings conducted at the Tribunal Judiciaire de Strasbourg. The material consists of excerpts, expressions, and procedural formulas drawn from defence counsels’ speeches, recorded in the form of research notes. The data constitute empirical material collected as part of a preliminary/pilot study carried out within a project funded by the National Science Centre, Poland (MINIATURA). The dataset may serve as material for further analyses in the field of oral courtroom discourse, in particular studies of the language of legal practice used by defence counsel in criminal proceedings. Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons: Impact of municipal and industrial wastewater on river catchment water quality
No full textDue to the environmental threat posed by polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), these compounds are included on the priority substance lists of both the U.S. EPA and the European Union. Monitoring their sources is therefore crucial for protecting aquatic ecosystems.
This study presents a comprehensive analysis of the PAH content of municipal and industrial wastewater and its transport and distribution along the Pilica River continuum, the largest left-bank tributary of the Vistula River. The highest PAH loads to the Pilica River were discharged by class IV municipal wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs); this was related to the volume of WWTP outflow, and the composition of treated wastewater, which was dominated by phenanthrene (PHE), pyrene (PYR) and naphthalene (NAP). Among industrial sources, the fruit and vegetable processing sector contributed the most PAHs, while the furniture sector showed the greatest variation in PAH composition.
Despite the large PAH loads carried along the Pilica river continuum, none of the identified concentrations in the tested samples exceeded the standards contained in Directive 2013/39/EU of the European Parliament and Council. Furthermore, among all sample types, the emission of PAH loads peaked in the autumn-winter period; the samples also demonstrated common correlation patterns, indicating common sources and similar environmental properties.
A key innovation of the study is its holistic approach, i.e. it treats the entire river basin as a unified research system. This perspective enables better understanding of PAH transport, retention, and degradation processes, which are essential for assessing ecological risk and developing effective pollution management strategies.The research was conducted as part of the Farmikro Project, funded entirely by the National Science Centre, Poland, Opus 22 (Project No. 2021/43/B/ST10/01076)
The family community as a decision-making body under the law. On Family Council in the Napoleonic Code from a linguistic perspective
No full textThe article includes words that appear in expressions such as family council, council of family, as well as in the one-word form council, which were noted in 19th-century translations of the Napoleonic Code into Polish. The subject of the description is therefore the closest expressive environment in which the three analyzed expressions appear. The studied formulations indicate the function and rank of the family body, which was the family council. The materials were excerpted from two translations of French legislation by two translators: Franciszek Ksawery Szaniawski and Franciszek Ksawery Michał Bohusz. The analysis emphasizes primarily the communal dimension of the family council’s activities, its decision-making and controlling function within the family. Furthermore, it points to its influence both from a local perspective, smaller community, and a global perspective, larger group, i.e., users of one language.W artykule uwzględniono wyrazy pojawiające się przy wyrażeniach rada familijna, rada familii, a także przy jednowyrazowym ujęciu rada, które odnotowano w XIX-wiecznych przekładach Kodeksu Napoleona na język polski. Przedmiotem opisu jest zatem najbliższe otoczenie wyrazowe, w jakim występują trzy rozpatrywane wyrażenia. Badane sformułowania wskazują na funkcję i rangę rodzinnego gremium, jakim była rada familijna. Materiały zostały wyekscerpowane z dwóch tłumaczeń francuskiego ustawodawstwa autorstwa dwóch tłumaczy: Franciszka Ksawerego Szaniawskiego oraz Franciszka Ksawerego Michała Bohusza. Analiza ukazuje przede wszystkim wspólnotowy wymiar działalności rady familijnej, jej decyzyjną i kontrolującą funkcję w rodzinie. Poza tym wskazano na wpływ rady zarówno w perspektywie lokalnej, mniejszej społeczności, jak i globalnej, większej grupy, tzn. użytkowników jednego języka

No full textThis paper gives a broad account of the various sequent-based proof formalisms in the proof-theoretic literature. We consider formalisms for various modal and tense logics, intuitionistic logic, conditional logics, and bunched logics. After providing an overview of the logics and proof formalisms under consideration, we show how these sequent-based formalisms can be placed in a hierarchy in terms of the underlying data structure of the sequents. We then discuss how this hierarchy can be traversed using translations. Translating proofs up this hierarchy is found to be relatively straightforward while translating proofs down the hierarchy is substantially more difficult. Finally, we inspect the prevalent distinction in structural proof theory between ‘internal calculi’ and ‘external calculi.’ We discuss the ambiguities involved in the informal definitions of these categories, and we critically assess the properties that (calculi from) these classes are purported to possess

No full textW artykule „Sarajewo widziane oczami Miljenko Jergovicia” podjęto próbę analizy opowiadań Jergovicia z perspektywy geopoetyki. Celem jest przedstawienie Sarajewa, a które Jergović patrzył w trakcie oblężenia, czyli w ostatnim okresie swojego życia w tym mieście, oraz określenie, jaki wpływ miasto wywarło na jego mieszkańców i na kształtowanie się ich tożsamości. Scharakteryzowano kilka miejsc wspomnianych w tekstach i starano się przeanalizować, jak wpłynęły one na bohaterów, z czym te miejsca im się kojarzyły i co dla nich znaczyły.In the article Sarajevo as seen by Miljenko Jergović I try to analyse Jergović’s short stories from the perspective of geopoetics. I aim to depict Sarajevo that Jergović looked at during the siege, which was also the last period he lived there, and to determine what kind of influence the city had on its inhabitants and on shaping of their identities. I characterise several places mentioned in writings, and I try to analyse how they influenced the characters, what they associate with these places and what these places meant to them

No full textThe purpose of this article is to introduce the Erasmus+ project Learning from European Lives (LEuLiv). This project is unique in its partnerships (Germany, Poland, Slovenia and Lithuania), the combination of diversity and synergy in the project’s concept and the fact that it encompasses four dimensions of biographical learning: the personal, inter-personal, social/societal and transcultural. Students from a variety of different academic and professional backgrounds in the partnership countries will learn the theoretical basis of biographical exploration with a focus on autobiographical memories as a resource in the present and conduct an interview with an older person (aged 60 or older). Project results include the creation of teaching manuals and innovative learning programs as well as a multi-lingual, multicultural biographical databank with 80 plus interviews to be used by the participating partners for future research and course development.Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie projektu Erasmus+ „Learning from European Lives” (LEuLiv). Projekt ten jest wyjątkowy ze względu na partnerstwo obejmujące Niemcy, Polskę, Słowenię i Litwę, a także na połączenie różnych wymiarów uczenia się biograficznego: osobistego, interpersonalnego, społecznego oraz transkulturowego. Studenci z krajów partnerskich, reprezentujący zróżnicowane środowiska akademickie i doświadczenia zawodowe, w ramach projektu poznają teoretyczne podstawy badań biograficznych, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem pamięci autobiograficznej jako zasobu wykorzystywanego w teraźniejszości. Przeprowadzą także wywiady z osobami starszymi (w wieku 60 lat i więcej). Rezultaty projektu obejmują opracowanie podręczników dydaktycznych i innowacyjnych programów kształcenia, a także stworzenie wielojęzycznej, wielokulturowej bazy danych biografii zawierającej ponad 80 wywiadów, która będzie wykorzystywana przez instytucje partnerskie w przyszłych badaniach oraz przy projektowaniu programów nauczania

No full textDiscovery of Missing Measurement Standards from the Main Town Hall in Gdańsk
No full textIn 2019, the Foundation for the Recovery of Lost Works of Art Latebra and the Biskupia Górka Association, in cooperation with the Our Gdańsk Association, carried out search work on Biskupia Górka in Gdańsk. Work under the archaeological supervision of Przemysław Garlicki led to the discovery of a monument erected in 1884 to the outstanding physician, astronomer and naturalist Nathaniel Mateusz Abraham Wolf. During the work, missing measurement standards were also recovered, which until 1945 were hung at the main entrance to the Main Town Hall in Gdańsk. The discovered measurement standards are an example of one of only a few preserved artefacts of this type in Poland. In the article the author provides a formal and stylistic description of the discovered measurement standards. Based also on archaeological, historical and iconographic sources, he attempts to trace the history of this extraordinary artefact.W 2019 r. Fundacja na Rzecz Odzyskania Zaginionych Dzieł Sztuki Latebra i Stowarzyszenie Biskupia Górka przy współpracy ze Stowarzyszeniem Nasz Gdańsk przeprowadziły prace poszukiwawcze na Biskupiej Górce w Gdańsku. Prace pod nadzorem archeologicznym Przemysława Garlickiego doprowadziły do zlokalizowania miejsca i odkrycia pomnika wzniesionego w 1884 r. wybitnemu lekarzowi, astronomowi i przyrodnikowi Natanielowi Mateuszowi Abrahamowi Wolfowi. Podczas prac wydobyto również zaginione wzorce miar, które do 1945 r. były zawieszone przy głównym wejściu do ratusza Głównego Miasta w Gdańsku. Odkryte miary stanowią przykład zachowanego jednego z zaledwie kilku tego rodzaju zabytków na terenie Polski. Publikując to cenne źródło materialne, autor dokonuje opisu formalno-stylistycznego odkrytych wzorców miar. Opierając się również na źródłach archeologicznych, historycznych i ikonograficznych, podejmuje próbę prześledzenia dziejów tego niezwykłego zabytku
