Representation of the Nazi Crimes in Donbass in Soviet Documentary and Fictional Cinema (1943–1950)
No full textSoviet documentary and fiction cinema of World War II and the first postwar years created several images related to Donbas. This region had played a significant role in Soviet socio-political discourse since prewar times. The article focuses on the peculiarities of the representation of Nazi crimes in Donbas. The author analyses the main fiction and documentary films that feature episodes of crimes committed during the German occupation, describes their historical context, and characterises the degree of influence these scenes had on the population. It is noted that the subject of Nazi crimes in Donbas first appears in the visual images of the destruction of industrial and social infrastructure caused by the Nazis. The issue of the murder of the population of the occupied territories is explored in documentaries related to the central site of mass crimes — the 4–4 bis mine in Stalino (today Donetsk).Fiction cinema dedicated to the topic of the wartime Donbas is represented by the films The Unconquered (Nepokorennyye), It Happened in Donbas (Eto bylo v Donbasse), The Young Guard (Molodaya gvardiya), and A Great Life (Bol’shaya zhizn’). The key focus is on the issues of the struggle against Nazism and post-war reconstruction. The films show the torture and murder of members of the anti-Nazi Resistance movement, including juveniles, the executions of Soviet prisoners of war, the deportation of civilians to Germany, and, for the first time in Soviet cinema, a scene of a mass execution of the Jewish population. Despite several historical inconsistencies, as the films were usually based on literary works, these films were very popular among the population that survived the occupation. Both abstract and concrete images of victims of the Nazi regime evoked allusions to their suffering caused by the war and occupation. The images of the wartime Donbas are still an important source for the perspective of reflecting the historical processes of the past and for studying the system of influence on the outlook and value coordinates of the population in different historical epochs
Nierówności w obciążeniu absencją chorobową z perspektywy płci w krajach Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej
No full textThis study focused on the gender gap in sickness absenteeism in Central and Eastern European countries from 2010 to 2023. Eurostat data and the shift-share analysis (SSA) method were applied to assess the impact of regional, sectoral and local factors on changes in sickness absenteeism. The findings highlighted variations in the length of sickness absence among European countries, in relation to CEE region’s overall developmental status. Additionally, the study confirmed the significance of the research and the growing issue of the gender gap in sickness absence in CEE countries. The results of the SSA analysis indicate that gender inequalities in sickness absenteeism decreased in most countries during the period studied, but the COVID-19 pandemic increased these differences in some sectors. The study provides important information for policymakers and employers seeking to promote equality in the workplace and improve the health and well-being of employees.Niniejsze badanie skupiało się na analizie różnic płciowych w absencji chorobowej w krajach Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej w latach 2010–2023. W celu oceny wpływu czynników regionalnych, sektorowych i lokalnych na zmiany w absencji chorobowej wykorzystano dane Eurostatu oraz metodę analizy shift-share (SSA). Wyniki badania ujawniły zróżnicowanie długości absencji chorobowej w krajach europejskich w kontekście ogólnego poziomu rozwoju regionu Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej. Ponadto badanie potwierdziło istotność podjętej tematyki oraz narastający problem różnic płciowych w absencji chorobowej w krajach tego regionu. Wyniki analizy SSA wskazują, że nierówności płciowe w absencji chorobowej zmniejszyły się w większości krajów w badanym okresie. Badanie dostarcza istotnych informacji dla decydentów politycznych i pracodawców, którzy dążą do promowania równości w miejscu pracy oraz poprawy zdrowia i dobrostanu pracowników

No full textKsiążka stanowi wprowadzenie do złożonej i wielowątkowej problematyki strategicznej rachunkowości zarządczej w dobie wyzwań stawianych przedsiębiorstwom przez wymóg zrównoważonego rozwoju. Je celami są: – przedstawienie etapów rozwoju rachunkowości zarządczej z koncentracją na strategicznym jej ukierunkowaniu, – syntetyczna prezentacja kontekstu, w ramach którego zachodzi ewolucja strategicznej rachunkowości zarządczej. Realizacja celów prowadzi autorkę do odpowiedzi na pytanie: Jaki jest obecny status strategicznej rachunkowości zarządczej odnośnie do jej metodyki i zastosowania w przedsiębiorstwach w kontekście potrzeby zrównoważonego rozwoju? Monografia obejmuje wprowadzenie, pięć rozdziałów i zakończenie. W rozdziale pierwszym zarysowano ramy historyczne rozwoju koncepcji rachunkowości zarządczej, wskazując trzy etapy tego rozwoju. Rozdział drugi dotyczy kontekstu wyłonienia się i rozwoju strategicznej rachunkowości zarządczej. Objaśniono w nim podstawowe terminy i koncepcje odnoszące się do strategii i zarządzania strategicznego. W rozdziale trzecim przedstawiono genezę, istotę, koncepcje i kierunek ewoluowania strategicznej rachunkowości zarządczej. Ujęto w nim także cele i cechy controllingu strategicznego. Rozdział czwarty zawiera klasyfikacje i ogólną charakterystykę metod zaliczanych do strategicznej rachunkowości zarządczej. Ostatni rozdział dotyczy strategicznej rachunkowości od strony zastosowania jej metod w podmiotach gospodarczych w krajach wysoko rozwiniętych i gospodarkach rozwijających się, w tym w Polsce. Książka może być przyczynkiem do pogłębionych dyskusji i badań przez pracowników naukowych w obszarze rachunkowości zarządczej i zarządzania strategicznego, a także źródłem informacji dla studentów, praktyków rachunkowości i menedżerów pogłębiających albo aktualizujących swoją wiedzę w tych obszarach
The Role of AI and Machine Translation in Students’ Translation Training
No full textThe purpose of this study is to examine what influence the machine translation tools using the elements of Artificial Intelligence (AI) have on students’ translation training.In the theoretical part such notions as machine translation, AI and machine translation education are presented according to Fengqi, Yuxuan (2025), Kruk, Kałużna (2024), Chiu et al. (2023), Bahdanau et al. (2016).The analysis is based on the translation project in which students are asked to compare the applicability of the selected machine translation tools using AI with those machine translation tools that are not equipped with AI. Additionally, students’ interviews are examined as to their opinions about AI machine translation tools in students’ translation training. The findings are scrutinized quantitatively and qualitatively. Finally, conclusions are drawn

Uniejów That No Longer Exists: A Contribution to the Study of Urban Development Changes in 19th-Century Uniejów
No full textUniejów is a town with roots dating back to the medieval period. It was granted city rights in the 13th century. To this day, it has preserved its unique architecture and a clearly defined spatial layout, despite the absence of many significant buildings that had once existed within the town. One of the periods that brought the most substantial changes to Uniejów was the 19th century. Some of these transformations, as well as former buildings, can be traced through old photographs, engravings, and paintings.Uniejów jest miastem o korzeniach sięgających okresu średniowiecza. Prawa miejskie otrzymał w XIII w. Do dziś zachował swoją unikalną zabudowę i czytelny układ przestrzenny, mimo braku wielu ważnych budynków, które istniały niegdyś w przestrzeni miasta. Jednym z okresów, w którym w mieście wprowadzono największe zmiany, był wiek XIX. Część owych przemian i istniejących dawnych zabudowań możliwa jest do odnalezienia na dawnych fotografiach, rycinach i obrazach
Spatial and temporal dynamics of tourism development in the Lake Neusiedl region
No full textThe study analyses tourism in the Lake Neusiedl region, an important tourist area on the Austrian-Hungarian border. It analyses not only its long-term development but also the current state of accommodation capacities and visitor numbers in selected Austrian municipalities in the region. Emphasis is placed on identifying key trends and seasonal fluctuations. The work is based on data for the years 2000 to 2024, which have been processed using appropriate methods and subsequently visualised. The results indicate a concentration of tourism in a few central municipalities, persistent seasonality, and a slight decline in the region’s relative importance within Burgenland. At the same time, the potential for further sustainable tourism development in the area is identified
