    No full text
In contemporary hospital settings, the therapeutic potential of music is increasingly recognised as a supportive tool for both patients and healthcare professionals. This study aimed to explore how staff at the University Medical Centre Ljubljana’s Paediatric Clinic perceive the role of music in clinical environments. Using a quantitative descriptive method, we analysed responses from 74 healthcare workers collected via a structured questionnaire. Findings indicate that most participants view music as an important resource for stress reduction, mood enhancement, and strengthening team cohesion. The results also show that music interventions positively affect hospitalised children and their parents, particularly in terms of emotional regulation and anxiety reduction. Despite strong support for integrating music therapy into clinical practice, its actual presence on wards remains limited. Participants identified key conditions for more effective implementation, including greater access to music therapists, additional training, and appropriate infrastructure. The findings confirm the potential of music as a holistic therapeutic modality in paediatric hospital care

Effects of different lifting strategies during resistance training on lower body function in untrained adult women

    No full text
Introduction: This study investigated whether velocity-based resistance training provides additional benefits to lower limb performance compared to standard exercise execution. Methods: Twenty untrained adult women (37–55 years) were randomly assigned to two resistance training groups to perform resistance training with three sets of four lower body exercises per week for 6 weeks. The number of repetitions and lifting velocity differed between the groups. One group performed lower body exercises with maximal intent and a 10% velocity loss threshold termination (VB10%n = 10), while the other group performed 10 repetitions at a standard 1:2 s concentric:eccentric tempo (STDn = 10). The number of repetitions was recorded during the sessions. Before and after the intervention, power, muscular endurance and dynamic stability of the lower limbs were assessed using the mean propulsive velocity (MPV) and power (MPP) at 70% one-repetition maximum in the squat and deadlift, the Y-balance test (YBT) and the 30-second sit-to-stand test (STS), respectively. A two-way analysis of variance was used to assess the effects of time, group, and their interaction. Results: The difference between 10 repetitions in the STD and repetitions in the VB10% was assessed using a one-sample t-test. Both groups significantly improved MPP, MPV, YBT and STS [mean difference (MD) ≥5.4%effect size (ES) ≥0.6]. Although 2.5–2.7 less repetitions were performed in VB10%, the improvements in MPP and MPV were slightly greater (ES ≥ 1.2 vs. ≥ 0.8). Conversely, STS and YBT improved more in STD (ES ≥ 0.4 vs. ≥ 1.0). Discussion: Regardless of the lifting method used, the training intervention improved lower limb power, muscular endurance and dynamic stability, indicating that resistance training is an effective strategy for enhancing these capacities in untrained adult women. Using 10% threshold may be a more time-efficient strategy for improving lower-limb power in this population and could represent a promising approach for mitigating early declines in power over time

Biodiversity genomics research practices require harmonising to meet stakeholder needs in conservation

    No full text
Biodiversity resilience relies on genetic diversity, which sustains the evolutionary potential of organisms in dynamic ecosystems. Genomics is a powerful tool for accurately estimating genetic diversity across genomes of species and populations. However, integration of genomic data into conservation efforts faces challenges due to the heterogeneity of approaches employed. Establishing common sets of standards for genomic data production and analysis is essential to consistently interpret results and clearly communicate outcomes to stakeholders. While the European Reference Genome Atlas (ERGA) community has contributed significantly to the standardisation of reference genome methodologies in synergy with other initiatives, there is now an urgent need to extend these principles to downstream analyses. ERGA aims to build on its experience to help establish harmonised approaches in applied biodiversity genomics research, aligned with ongoing efforts to define standardised metrics for measuring and reporting genetic diversity. Establishing consensus on best practices for genome-wide data generation methods and applications will substantially increase accuracy, interpretability, and comparability, together with enhanced stakeholder capacities. By identifying key opportunities and challenges, as well as conducting preliminary stakeholder mapping and examining case studies, the goal is to build an inclusive framework that ensures the relevance and widespread adoption of these best practices: fostering trust and confidence in genomics research practices to meet stakeholder needs in biodiversity conservation. We call upon the broader research community to join efforts in establishing these approaches, recognising the importance of participation of end-users, to foster the integration of genomic data into the toolkit for measuring and reporting genetic diversity

    Oblikovanje stabilnosti

This paper assesses the tripartite link between a country’s financial (in) stability, its level of financial development, and economic growth. Using a panel of 21 countries over the period 2001–2020 and using the IMF Financial Market Index to proxy financial development, we find (i) that financial stability varies positively with the development of the financial system, and (ii) that the relationship between financial stability and economic growth depends critically on the level of financial development of each country. These results show that in the absence of financial development, the impact of economic growth on financial (in)stability will havedifferent effects. In addition, we performed a subsample analysis by dividing the overall sample into two subsamples based on stability levels. We find that financial development enhances stability more in the more stable subsample, while growth does so in the less stable subsample.

Sustainability is a core and primary outcome of place attachment studies, an increasingly popular research topic in the tourism industry. It is a significant concern in daily life because of social and environmental issues and the need to preserve legacy and facilities to maintain tourism destinations. In this study, the Scopus database and keywords related to place attachment, sustainability, and tourism were used to identify the papers. The result revealed that 720 papers were found in the Scopus database from 1988 to 2023. After filtering the data, only 448 papers were included for further analysis. In this study, authors use the bibliometrics analysis technique, VOSviewer, and RStudio software to quantify and visualise the existing literature on place attachment and sustainability and evaluate the main overview of the research summary. This study aims to present a bibliometric overview of place attachment towards sustainability in tourism research. The study employed co-occurrence of keywords, most prolific authors, most cited countries, most cited articles, and co-authorship by country analyses. The findings show significant growth in the field of place attachment and sustainability research, including authors, significant journals, research papers, and countries. What do we understand today by the term lifelong learning, and what ideological frameworks shape it? A concept originally rooted in the promotion of personal and professional development is increasingly intertwined with the neoliberal logics of constant adaptation to the labour market and rapidly evolving knowledge. In this context, it is important to ask whether lifelong learning still represents an educational ideal and how it has been reconfigured in recent decades. Teacher education in Slovenia and Sweden reflects different approaches to lifelong learning. In Slovenia, the concept is primarily manifested through mandatory professional development after graduation. However, access to further training is often limited by financial, temporal, and organizational constraints. Teacher education programmes tend to be less flexible, and professional growth is frequently driven by external regulations rather than intrinsic motivation. In contrast, the Swedish education system is built on teacher autonomy and provides broad access to free, diverse professional development opportunities, supported by strong institutional structures. This approach not only reinforces the role of teachers as lifelong learners but also as active agents in shaping educational strategies, thus passing on the principles of lifelong learning to future generations. The comparison between the Slovenian and Swedish systems highlights important differences in accessibility, structure, and funding of teacher professional development. At the same time, it raises the critical question of how to balance personal development with institutional expectations in shaping the future of lifelong learning
