    Ukrajinski vojni grafiti

    No full text
The proposed article examines graffiti related to the war in Ukraine. Based on a socio-philosophical perspective, the author explores graffiti as a socio-cultural phenomenon and sets out to explore the following research questions: How has graffiti gained visibility and interest among the general public in Ukraine (beyond subcultural communities)? and How has graffiti’s symbolic communication evolved in response to wartime circumstances? The study includes a general overview of murals and graffiti in Ukrainian public spaces over the past decades. The research is based on practical cases that illustrate the transformation of symbolic interactions such as expressions of solidarity, protest, revenge, and identity. Particular attention is paid to the evolution of graffiti through illegal activity and the preservation of cultural heritage, spontaneous self-expression and regulation, and the role of government in the development and legalization of graffiti.Članek preučuje grafite, povezane z vojno v Ukrajini.

    Predictable artificial intelligence

    No full text
Many areas of artificial intelligence, and machine learning in particular, aim at being probably correct, i.e., valid on average, rather than pursuing the idealistic goal of being provably valid for all inputs. However, AI systems could still be predictably valid, such as an imperfect robot deliverer for which we can reliably and precisely predict the task instances for which it is correct and safe, its valid operating range. “Predictable AI” is a nascent research area that explores ways of anticipating key validity indicators (e.g., performance, safety) of present and future AI ecosystems. We argue that achieving predictability is crucial for fostering trust, liability, control, alignment and safety of AI, and thus should be prioritised over performance. We formally characterise predictability, explore its most relevant components, illustrate what can be predicted, describe alternative candidates for predictors, as well as the trade-offs between maximising validity and predictability. To illustrate these concepts, we bring an array of illustrative examples covering diverse ecosystem configurations. “Predictable AI” is related to other areas of technical and non-technical AI research, but have distinctive questions, hypotheses, techniques and challenges. This paper aims to elucidate them, calls for identifying paths towards a landscape of predictably valid AI systems and outlines the potential impact of this emergent field

Analysis of key impact factors in new methods implementation in organisations

Background/Purpose: This paper examines the key factors for successful change implementation in organisations, management qualities, and the most common barriers to change implementation. The main change we focus on is implementing new work methods in the organisation, such as Six Sigma, Lean, Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, and similar methods. Methods: The latest findings from the literature about change management, key success factors and barriers to change implementation are presented. An empirical study of 55 organisations from Slovenia is presented. An online questionnaire was used to gather data. Descriptive statistics were used to analyse the data. The research questions concerned the key factors influencing the successful implementation of organisational changes, the qualities neces- sary for organisational leaders, and the most common barriers to successful implementation. Results: The key factors for successful change implementation are strongly connected to cultural and human-re- lated factors, such as top management and employee involvement. Choosing the right leaders and communicating effectively about the implementation of change are key success factors. Key barriers identified include ineffective means of communication and employee habits and mindsets that do not support change. The most important quality of a manager who is leading organisational change is respect for other parties in the change management process, such as employees. Conclusion: Understanding key success factors and the barriers to implementing change in organisations can im- prove change management practices. The findings contribute to a better understanding of change management in the implementation of new methods in organisations and deliver theoretical and practical implications.

Educational institutions hold the potential to reduce the impact of minority stress on the lives of LGBTQ+ youth. In this paper, we focus on the resilience of LGBTQ+ youth in the school environment. The presented integrative review of the literature included 57 empirical and theoretical papers. Qualitative content analysis showed the educational environment can act as an important source of community resilience processes for LGBTQ+ students, while they have a smaller role to play in strengthening individual resilience processes. Areas not directly related to the school environment were also found to be importantin these areas, the engagement of school professionals is desirable for the optimal development of LGBTQ+ youth
