Boolean algebras as a tool to implement and analyze hypercompositional structures

    No full text
The manuscript presents a novel approach for implementing and analyzing algebraic hypercompositional structures by integrating concepts from computer science. Specifically, a library written in Rust, designed to generate and explore such structures, is built. The framework supports the identification of various hypercompositional structures, including (semi)hypergroups, transposition hypergroups, quasicanonical and canonical hypergroups, along with their associated substructures. Additionally, some tools for detecting particular elements such as scalar elements, identity elements, and scalar identities, are provided. By leveraging Boolean algebra, each hypercompositional structure is encoded as a binary string that contains all relevant structural information, enabling efficient computation and analysis

    Sustainable economics

    No full text
This chapter sets out to explore a theory of sustainable economics, grounded in the functionality and organization of the Earth system. It seeks to find a path to a sustainable future for humanity when viewed through all three lenses of environment, society, and economics. To begin with, the concept of a pluriverse is explained and critiqued. Next, the ecological pluriverse is explored, combining systems theory and thermodynamics. The Earth system consists of many worlds, or biomes, whose characteristics are emergent from the energetic contexts in which each biome finds itself. The biomes also operate their economies in ways that relate to their ecological properties. The totality results in an ecological pluriverse, one world and many worlds, setting the parameters for all life within. Next, the social pluri- verse is explored, wherein a sustainable humanity can be seen to exist in resonance with the ecological pluriverse. Finally, the economic pluriverse is addressed, wherein appropriate sustainable economic activity emerges from the social pluriverse and, more fundamentally, the economics of the ecological pluriverse

Massive stars exploding in a He-rich circumstellar medium

We present a photometric and spectroscopic analyses of the Type Ibn supernova (SN) 2024acyl. It rises to an absolute magnitude peak of Mo = −17.58 ± 0.15 mag in 10.6 days, and displays a rapid linear post-peak light-curve decline in all bands (e.g. γ0 − 60(V) = 0.097 ± 0.002 mag day−1), similar to most SNe Ibn. The optical pseudobolometric light curve peaks at (3.5 ± 0.8)×1042 erg s−1, with a total radiated energy of (5.0 ± 0.4)×1048 erg. The spectra are dominated by a blue continuum at early stages, with narrow P-Cygni He I lines and flash-ionisation emission lines of C III, N III, and He II. The P-Cygni He I features gradually evolve and become emission-dominated in late-time spectra. The Hα line is detected throughout the entire spectral evolution, which indicates that the circumstellar material (CSM) is helium-rich with some residual amount of hydrogen. Our multi-band light-curve modelling yields estimates of the ejecta mass of Mej = 0.49+0.11−0.09 M⊙ with a kinetic energy of Ek = 0.06+0.01−0.01 × 1051 erg, and a 56Ni mass of MNi = 0.018 M⊙. The inferred CSM properties are characterised by a mass of MCSM = 0.51+0.05−0.04 M⊙, an inner radius of R0=17.8+3.6−3.0 AU, and a density of ρCSM = (8.3+2.7−1.2) × 10−12 g cn−3. The multi-epoch spectra are well reproduced by the CMFGEN/ he4p0 model, corresponding to a He-ZAMS mass of 4 M⊙ (H-ZAMS mass 18.11 M⊙, pre-SN mass 3.16 M⊙). These findings are consistent with a scenario of an SN powered by ejecta-CSM interaction originating from a low-mass helium star that evolved within an interacting binary system where the CSM with some residual hydrogen may originate from the mass-transfer process. We also discuss an extreme scenario involving the possible merger of a helium white dwarf. In addition, a channel of core-collapse explosion of a late-type Wolf-Rayet (WR) star with hydrogen, or a transitional star between an Of and a WR type (e.g. an Ofpe/WN9 star) with fallback accretion cannot be entirely ruled out

Takšni pristopi spodbujajo razmislek o okoljskih izzivih in izzivajo tradicionalne umetniške prakse, s čimer prispevajo k razumevanju prepleta med vodo, umetnostjo in znanostjo. V zaključku avtor povzema glavne ugotovitve o vplivu vode na umetnost in znanost, pri čemer izpostavi njen blagodejen zvočni učinek na človeški um.The master\u27s thesis titled Water as a Medium, Element, and Symbol in Contemporary Art addresses and investigates the complexity of water as an essential element that serves as a medium, element, and symbol in contemporary art. The work explores how water has served as a source of inspiration and expression in art throughout history, with a focus on new media art, which is defined as art that incorporates innovative approaches, scientific research, visual style of science representation, critique of ideology or philosophy of science, living beings, and experimentation. The thesis contributes to the understanding of the role of water in art and science and provides insights into the creative and critical approaches of contemporary world-renowned and Slovenian artists who use water in their works. Such approaches encourage reflection on environmental challenges and challenge traditional artistic practices, thereby contributing to the understanding of the interplay between water, art, and science. Among the selected works described in the thesis is Hidrogizma, considered one of the first significant works in the Slovenian space where water serves as a central element. The practical part of the thesis presents research work and the production of the kinetic installation Paligenesis of Fluvial Dialects in the Anthropocene, which explores water as a central element, and describes further projects arising from this research (Pre-Paligenesis, Paligenesis 2.0, Con·d/s·ense, D•still). The conclusion summarizes the main findings and discusses the impact of water on art and science, including its soothing sonic effect on the human mind
