Life of a Chef
The diploma thesis The Life of a Chef is focused on documentation of the cooking profession and its effects on a chef\u27s personal life, friendships and free time.
Since the project is a documentary, the first part is dedicated to researching the history and development of documentary photography and a photo essay. In doing so, it also touches on the influence that photography has had in storytelling and reporting, as well as instances where it has been exploited for its reliability and authenticity.
This is followed by a quick overview of the cooking profession and the transformation it has undergone in the late 1990 due to the scrutiny directed at the profession. The second part focuses on the documentation of the life of a chef at Osteria Žogica and the work process. The approach to the work, the subject, and the problems that arose during the work are presented
Existing open data practices in high energy astro- and particle physics
In this presentation, the existing open data practices in high energy astro-, particle and astroparticle physics are presented. Open data has become fundamental in astrophysics, particle, and astroparticle physics, enhancing collaboration, reproducibility, and transparency, while accelerating innovation. A recent shift toward openness, marked by data-sharing initiatives and accessible resources, is driving breakthroughs like the multi-messenger observation of GW170817, a neutron star merger detected in both gravitational waves and gamma rays, and the identification of blazar TXS 0506+056 as a high-energy neutrino source.
Across these fields, robust efforts are underway to develop and implement FAIR-compliant data policies, with a wide array of supportive tools, standards, protocols, and software already in use (Virtual Observatory in astrophysics, CERN’s Open Data Portal in particle physics, ...).
The challenges of astroparticle physics data, often more complex than traditional astrophysics
or particle physics data, call for additional coordination and technical advancements to meet
FAIR principles effectively. Machine learning also plays a transformative role in these domains, enhancing the analysis of both proprietary and open data to reveal new insights and optimize
research methodologies

Lec-nominalizations with an adjusted secondary imperfective morpheme in Slovenian
This dataset is a derivative of Arsenijević et al. (2024). The goal of the data collection is to identify Slovenian lec-nominalizations (in the original dataset listed as lc-) that have an adjustment of the secondary imperfectivizing morpheme not attested in the corresponding verb. To obtain all relevant nominalizations, the national corpus Gigafida 2.0 was searched for nominalizations ending in -ovalec and -evalec.
A note on speech act recursion
I present novel observations about iterated questions, i.e. questions about questions, and propose an analysis. The conclusions I argue for are the following: (i) speech acts are represented in the grammar(ii) speech act recursion is possible but is limited to at most two levels(ii) declarative questions are questions about an assertion act. I also show that assuming speech acts in the grammar can help systematize some puzzling differences between matrix and embedded sentences with respect to their pronunciation
