Measurements of Higgs boson production via gluon–gluon fusion and vector-boson fusion using ▫▫ decays in ▫▫ collisions with the ATLAS detector and their effective field theory interpretations
Measurement of the Lund jet plane in hadronic decays of top quarks and W bosons with the ATLAS detector
The Lund jet plane (LJP) is measured for the first time in events, using 140 of TeV pp collision data collected with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The LJP is a two-dimensional observable of the sub-structure of hadronic jets that acts as a proxy for the kinematics of parton showers and hadron formation. The observable is constructed from charged particles and is measured for anti- jets with transverse momentum above 350 GeV containing the full decay products of either a top quark or a daughter W boson. The other top quark in the event is identified from its decay into a b-quark, an electron or a muon and a neutrino. The measurement is corrected for detector effects and compared with a range of Monte Carlo predictions sensitive to different aspects of the hadronic decays of the heavy particles. In the W-boson-initiated jets, all the predictions are incompatible with the measurement. In the top quark initiated jets, disagreement with all predictions is observed in smaller subregions of the plane, and with a subset of the predictions across the fiducial plane. The measurement could be used to improve the tuning of Monte Carlo generators, for better modelling of hadronic decays of heavy quarks and bosons, or to improve the performance of jet taggers
Detection of spaceborne lasers with the Pierre Auger Observatory
The detection of side-scattered ultraviolet light from spaceborne lasers with
fluorescence telescopes of cosmic ray observatories offers unique opportunities
for systematic studies of the aerosol content of the local atmosphere. It also enables
the validation of the optical calibration of the telescopes. Additionally, these
observations provide valuable ground-based monitoring of the performance of the
scientific instruments aboard satellites used for Earth climate observation.
Here, we report on results from the reconstruction of laser shots from
the spaceborne lidar instrument ALADIN aboard the Aeolus satellite in 2019, 2020
and 2021. Furthermore, we present initial observations of laser shots from ATLID,
the atmospheric lidar of the EarthCARE satellite, launched in 2024. EarthCARE’s
orbit is particularly well-suited for enabling laser detection within a few days at both
the Pierre Auger Observatory and the Telescope Array Experiment, facilitating
a relative calibration of the energy scales of these observatories

A generalized attention deficit disorder chaotic model with Soboleva hyperbolic tangent functions
This work studies the problem of modeling Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) using a previously reported one dimensional map, but by replacing its two hyperbolic tangent activation functions, with Soboleva hyperbolic tangent ones. This adds four new control parameters to the system, which significantly enhances its modeling freedom. Afterwards, the effect of these parameters on the model is studied, using tools of nonlinear analysis, like bifurcation, Lyapunov exponent, and phase diagrams. The emergence of chaos is prevalent, indicating the sensitivity of the model to external excitations. Numerous phenomena are also observed, like crisis, antimonotonicity, and shrimps. This new model can help delve deeper into the emergence of chaos in behavioral disorders
Microbiological screening of dried fruits and table grape present on Slovenian market
Dried fruits are a popular snack due to their high fiber content, but their production may pose microbiological risks, due to the nature of the processing methods, which can allow various microorganisms and their metabolic byproducts to persist. Among these byproducts are mycotoxins—such as ochratoxin A, patulin, and griseofulvin—which are of particular concern due to their potentially harmful effects on human health (Shahidi (2013)). In this study, samples from raisins, dried apricots, and table grapes available on the Slovenian market were analyzed to assess microbial contamination and potential mycotoxin production. Dried fruits and table grape samples were inoculated on MEA, WL, and PDA media and incubated to isolate yeasts and moulds. Morphological identification was performed using CREA and CYA media. For mycotoxin screening, selected mould cultures were extracted and analyzed using Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC), with standards for ochratoxin A, patulin, and griseofulvin. TLC plates were examined under UV light at 254 nm and 365 nm wavelength. DNA from isolates was also extracted and sent for sequencing to confirm species identification. The results showed that Aspergillus spp. were the predominant moulds in raisin samples, while Penicillium spp. were isolated from table grapes and various yeast strains from dried apricots. TLC analysis suggested the presence of griseofulvin in Aspergillus isolates, and possible traces of patulin and ochratoxin A in Penicillium samples. These findings are consistent with literature data ((Narayana (2021), Tournas et al. (2015)) on typical contaminants of dried fruits. Future studies using quantitative methods such as HPLC are needed to confirm and measure mycotoxin concentrations
Astrometry-only detection of microlensing events with Gaia
Astrometric microlensing events occur when a massive object passes between a distant source and the observer, causing a shift of the light centroid. The precise astrometric measurements of the Gaia mission provide an unprecedented opportunity to detect and analyse these events, revealing properties of lensing objects such as their mass and distance. We developed and tested the Gaia Astrometric Microlensing Events (GAME) Filter, a software tool for identifying astrometric microlensing events and deriving lensing object properties. We generated mock Gaia observations for different magnitudes, different numbers of Gaia visits, and events extending beyond Gaia \u27s observational run. We applied GAME Filter to these datasets and validated its performance. We also assessed the rate of false positives involving binary astrometric systems misidentified as microlensing events. GAME Filter successfully recovers microlensing parameters for strong events. Parameters are more difficult to recover for short events and those extending beyond Gaia ’s run, where only a fraction of the events are observed. The astrometric effect breaks the degeneracy in the microlensing parallax present in photometric microlensing. For fainter sources, the observed signal weakens, reducing recovered events and increasing parameter errors. However, even for Gaia mas . Observing regions with varying numbers of Gaia visits has a minimal impact on filter accuracy when the number of visits is ≳ 90. Additionally, even if the peak of a microlensing event lies outside Gaia ’s run, microlensing parameters can still be recovered. GAME filter characterises lenses with astrometry-only data for lens masses ranging from approximately 1 to 20 and distances of up to ≈ 6,kpc. GAME Filter reveals the astrometric potential in microlensing events. Our results indicate that astrometric data can enhance photometric detections and refine constraints on microlensing parameters

Dokument obravnava priložnosti za večjo prepoznavnost usvojenih veščin in pridobljenih kompetenc v neformalnem učenju, ki se izvaja v projektu LIFE IP CARE4CLIMATE. Posebej so v tem kontekstu obravnavana mikrodokazila, ki na enotno strukturiran način predstavljajo učne izide in imajo tako ustrezne nastavke tudi za vključevanje v Slovensko ogrodje kvalifikacij. Ocenjujemo, da zapis učnih izidov v obliki in strukturi priporočeni za mikrodokazila omogoča večjo kredibilnost tako izkazanih veščin in kompetenc na trgu storitev pri zasebnih in javnih naročnikih in da je hkrati edina primerna podlaga za kasnejše priznavanje usvojenih znanji in spretnosti bodisi v okviru certificiranja strokovnjakov, akreditacije ali priznavanja kvalifikacije v nacionalnem sistemu.This document addresses the opportunities for increasing the visibility of skills and competences acquired through non-formal learning implemented in the LIFE IP CARE4CLIMATE project. In this context, micro-credentials are specifically addressed, which represent learning outcomes in a uniform structured way and thus have the appropriate settings for inclusion in the Slovenian Qualifications Framework. We believe that the recording of learning outcomes in the form and structure recommended for micro-credentials allows for greater credibility of the skills and competences demonstrated in the market for services with private and public clients and that it is also the only suitable basis for the subsequent recognition of acquired skills and competences, either in the context of certification of professionals, accreditation or recognition of qualifications in the national system
