Electrolytes in Conducting Nanopores: Revisiting Constant Charge and Constant Potential Simulations

    Get PDF
Simulating electrolyte–electrode systems poses challenges due to the need to account for the electrode’s response to ion movements in order to maintain a constant electrode potential, which slows down the simulations. To circumvent this, computationally more efficient constant charge (CC) simulations are sometimes employed. However, the accuracy of CC simulations in capturing the behavior of electrolyte–electrode systems remains unclear, especially for microporous electrodes. Herein, we consider electrolyte-filled slit nanopores and systematically analyze the in-pore ion structure and diffusivity using CC and constant potential simulations. Our results indicate that CC simulations provide comparable pore occupancies at high bulk ion densities and for highly charged pores, but they fail to accurately describe the ion structure and dynamics, particularly in quasi-2D (single-layer) pores and at low ion densities. We attribute these results to the superionic state emerging in conducting nanoconfinement and its interplay with excluded volume interactions. This work was supported by NCN grant Nos. 2020/39/I/ST3/02199 and 2021/40/Q/ST4/00160. Research on the image design of clothing patterns

    Get PDF
In order to solve the problem of mismatch between consumers’ personalized needs and clothing pattern design, a method of clothing pattern image design was proposed based on Kansei engineering theory to obtain a perceptual consumer image. Then, a correlation model between clothing pattern design elements and perceptual images of young people was established through the quantitation theory type I, and the mapping relationship between the two and the degree of influence on consumer preference was presented by the diagram method. The paper-cut pattern of a T shirt is taken as an example to verify the feasibility of this research method. The results show that it not only provides designers with clear design indicators and references, but also makes the design process more objective and scientific. This paper was supported by 2023 Fujian Provincial Social Science Foundation project (FJ2023B081), 2023 Minjiang University Faishu Charity Foundation Donated Funds Research Project (No. MFS23010), 2022 Fujian Province Education Science “Fourteen Fifth Plan” Project (No. FJJKBK22-011) and 2022 Minjiang University teaching research and construction project (No. MJUCJJG2022005)

Shielding effectiveness of textile woven fabric with conductive weft in microwave frequency range

    Get PDF
The article examines the shielding effectiveness of fabrics with conductive fibres in the microwave frequency range. Because of the limited size of the samples and high frequency range, the methods presented in literature could not be applied in this research. The method proposed, using a special measurement setup, demonstrated practicality for smaller textile samples. The results showed an angular dependence of shielding effectiveness, suggesting the need for perpendicular orientation of conductive fibres in fabrics to maximize shielding. This research provides knowledge on tailored solutions to mitigate electromagnetic interference in modern electronic technologies

Ginger as a non-pharmacological prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV): a review

    Get PDF
Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) are significant clinical problems associated with patients’ unpleasant experiences and potential complications such as dehydration and electrolyte imbalances. In the search for effective methods of alleviating PONV, increasing attention is paid to the therapeutic properties of ginger. This review aims to summarize the current state of knowledge regarding the effect of ginger on reducing PONV. Analysis of conducted clinical studies suggests that ginger may be an effective agent in alleviating PONV after surgeries. Many of these studies indicate the beneficial effects of ginger, particularly when used in combination with conventional antiemetic drugs. Due to differences in methodology and inconclusive results in some studies, more research is needed to confirm these results and establish optimal doses and routes of administering ginger in clinical practice

Aim. The article aims to introduce the concept of emotional intelligence and present an alternative view of educational success, emphasizing the role of parents and then the school environment in supporting students from an early age on their way to acquiring knowledge and achieving positive results in the educational process, as well as in adult life. Methods and materials. The article discusses the concept of emotional intelligence and its role in children achieving educational success. This article presents a synthetic approach to the topic by reviewing and analyzing the content contained in available, selected examples of scientific literature. This publication defining emotions and emotional intelligence, explaining their importance in the individual and collective contexts, and focusing on childhood and education (especially taking into account the roles of, among others, emotions, self-regulation, and self-esteem in the process of acquiring knowledge and functioning in the school space). It mainly focuses on childhood, an essential period in a child’s development, to stimulate their social skills, teach them how to deal with emotions, and develop emotional intelligence. Results and conclusion. Next to general intelligence, emotional intelligence is one of the essential contemporary factors influencing a child’s broadly understood success (school and professional). It is a factor that optimizes the educational process and helps the individual cope with many everyday personal, educational, and, in the future, professional situations. In this context, EI plays the role of a catalyst influencing the positive functioning of students in the school space, after completing education, and in the subsequent years of their functioning in the professional space.Cel. Metody i materiały. W artykule omówiono koncepcję inteligencji emocjonalnej i jej rolę w osiąganiu przez dzieci i młodzież sukcesu edukacyjnego. W niniejszym artykule zaprezentowano syntetyczne ujęcie tematu dokonując przeglądu i analizy treści zawartych w dostępnych, wybranych przykładach literatury naukowej, związanej z podjętym zagadnieniem. Wyniki i wnioski. Inteligencja emocjonalna obok inteligencji ogólnej stanowi jeden z istotnych współcześnie czynników wpływających na osiągnięcie przez dziecko powodzenia edukacyjnego, a następnie szeroko rozumianego sukcesu (szkolnego i zawodowego). Stanowi ona czynnik optymalizujący proces edukacji i pomagający jednostce radzić sobie w wielu codziennych sytuacjach osobistych, edukacyjnych, a w przyszłości zawodowych.

Metody i materiały. Materiał empiryczny został zebrany w badaniu jakościowym zrealizowanym metodą indywidualnych wywiadów pogłębionych z pracownikami i wolontariuszami Domu Powstańców Warszawskich oraz z powstańcami. Warszawy i innych partnerów współpracujących z tą instytucją. Wyniki i wnioski. Duża grupa powstańców mieszka w jednoosobowych gospodarstwach domowych i wymaga wsparcia w codziennym funkcjonowaniu. Dom Powstańców Warszawskich reaguje na zmieniające się potrzeby podopiecznych poprzez podejmowanie nowych funkcji (koordynacja usług instytucji miasta, nowe usługi Domu). W zaspokajaniu potrzeb podopiecznych Dom Powstańców Warszawskich współpracuje z instytucjami miasta i z rodzinami. Aim. The purpose of this article is an attempt to describe the needs of the elderly participants of the Warsaw Uprising, and to answer the question of how an institution, dedicated to this specific group, the Warsaw Insurgents’ Home, run by the city unit of the Center for Intergenerational Activity, responds to these needs. An important thread under consideration is also the cooperation of the House staff with families in terms of daily support and care. Methods and materials. The empirical material was collected in a qualitative research carried out by means of individual in-depth interviews with the employees of the Warsaw Insurgents’ Home, volunteers and insurgents, as well as analysis of the content of websites and materials (articles, information brochures, mentions) both those indicated by the management of the institution, as well as those available in the virtual space, on the official portals of the Warsaw City or other partners cooperating with the institution. Results and conclusion. The needs of the insurgents are changing as a result of the progressive aging process, limiting psychophysical fitness and the possibility of social adaptation; a large group of insurgents live in single-person households and require support in daily functioning; the Warsaw Insurgents’ House responds to the changing needs of the insurgents by undertaking new functions (coordination of the services of the City’s institutions, new services of the House); in meeting the needs of the frequenter, the Insurgents’ House cooperates with the City’s institutions and with families

    Get PDF
Cel. Przedmiotem analizy są prawa rodziców w kontekście szkolnym. Celem badań jest zestawienie uniwersalnych praw rodziców (europejskich i polskich) z prawami partykularnymi, wynikającymi z przepisów regulujących organizację szkół w Polsce. Metody i materiały. Przeprowadzono analizę dwóch grup dokumentów dotyczących praw rodziców: 1) Prawa uniwersalne, zawarte w Konstytucji RP, Europejskiej Karcie Praw Rodziców, Karcie Praw Podstawowych UE, Deklaracji Praw Człowieka, Konwencji o Prawach Dziecka oraz Kodeksie Rodzinnym i Opiekuńczym; 2) Prawa partykularne wynikające z polskiego prawa oświatowego, Karty Nauczyciela, rozporządzeń dotyczących organizacji szkół publicznych oraz ramowych statutów szkół. Wyniki i wnioski. Aim. This analysis examines the rights of parents in the school context. The aim of the research is to juxtapose the universal rights of parents (both European and Polish) with specific rights established in regulations governing school organization in Poland. Methods and materials. The study involves the analysis of two groups of documents concerning parents’ rights: 1) Universal rights, including the Constitution of the Republic of Poland, the European Charter of Parents’ Rights, the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, the Declaration of Human Rights, the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and the Family and Guardianship Code. 2) Particular rights of parents related to current school law, including Education Law, the Teacher’s Charter, regulations on the organization of public schools, and regulations on framework school statutes. Results and conclusion. The analysis reveals a significant gap between universal rights, which provide parents with broadly defined privileges and responsibilities for the upbringing and education of their children, and particular rights, which, while detailed, offer only limited means for parents to assert their rights within the educational process. This study highlights the starkly different legal perspectives: universal rights position parents as key figures in their child’s education, whereas particular rights focus on detaile

Cel. Metody i materiały. Dobór grupy był celowy. W badaniach wzięło udział 50 dzieci sześcioletnich oraz 50 rodziców tych dzieci. Badania przeprowadzono w 2015 roku w jednym z krakowskich przedszkoli. W badaniach zastosowano metodę sondażu diagnostycznego, w której wykorzystano technikę ankiety oraz Test krótkich prób zdolności muzycznych. Wśród metod analizy zgromadzonego materiału badawczego wykorzystano analizę ilościową oraz statystyczną. Wyniki i wnioski. Aim. The main aim of this research was a comparative analysis of the results obtained by children in the Short Test of Musical Abilities with the parents’ survey declarations regarding their attitudes towards music. Methods and materials. 50 6-year-old children and 50 parents of these children participated in the research. The research was conducted in 2015 in a kindergarten in Krakow. In the research, the Diagnostic Survey method was used. The Survey technique and the Short Test of Musical Abilities was used in the research. Quantitative and statistical analysis were used among the methods of analyzing the collected research material. Results and conclusion. The activities declared by parents differentiate the levels of the children’s musical abilities. The research confirmed significant differences between the levels of children’s musical abilities in performing melodies and preference for listening to music as the musical activity most often chosen by parents, as well as with the parents’ musical education. The use of a computer as music playback equipment is also important for the level of musical ability in terms of performing a melody. What is alarming is the fact that most parents do not undertake activities related to creating music (94% of respondents). Research shows, among others: the importance of actions taken by parents for children’s musical abilities and also encourage parents and teachers to act effectively in the context of new technologies
