    Get PDF
In this article, the author describes the problem with low frequency vibrations in the range of 0–100 Hz and how exposure to these vibrations could affect human health when working in dangerous environments. For this research, vibrations in the range of 0–30 Hz were studied as this frequency range has the largest impact on human health and such vibrations usually occur when operating excavators, forklifts or Melex vehicles. Workers who are exposed to these vibrations usually work in a seated position for many hours. Over time, exposure to dangerous vibrations in the working environment will cause damage to the human spine, resulting in a great deal of discomfort for the worker. In order to alleviate the pain, the worker will tend to shift their seating position away from the correct position, which further compounds the issue. The author proposes the use of a 3D knitted seat mat in order to reduce the amplitude of any harmful vibrations. This will provide better ergonomic conditions for the user and will reduce the effects of low frequency vibrations

Investigating the Effects of PU-Based Back-Coating with Boric Acid and Titanium Dioxide Additives on Flame Retardancy Levels and Comfort Properties of 100% Cotton Denim Fabric

    Get PDF
This study aimed to develop a cost-effective and resource-efficient application to enhance the thermal stability, flame retardancy, self-cleaning, and antibacterial properties of cotton denim fabrics through a single-step, flexible, and simple polyurethane (PU) based back-coating method, ultimately increasing the use of denim fabrics in daily and work clothes thanks to the increased functionality. This method utilizes boric acid (H3BO3) and a binary composite of H3BO3-titanium dioxide (TiO2) as functional additives while considering comfort parameters. Limiting oxygen index (LOI) and vertical burning tests were conducted to explore the thermal stability and flame retardancy of the samples, while assessments of air permeability, water vapour permeability, thermal resistance, and thermal absorptivity were performed to investigate the comfort properties. Comparing two kinds of back-coated denim fabrics, H3BO3-TiO2 back-coated cotton fabric showed the best flame retardancy with the lowest char length (45 mm) and highest LOI (27%). The air permeability values of back-coated fabrics decreased by approximately half compared to the untreated denim fabric. Although the water vapour permeability values decreased, they were less affected by the coating. Coating application reduced thermal conductivity and thermal absorbency, resulting in more thermally resistant denim fabric. This study demonstrates the potential utility of a PU-based coating incorporating TiO2 and H3BO3 on traditional cotton denim fabrics to enhance flame resistance while minimizing any adverse effects on the overall thermal comfort of the fabric

    Get PDF
Cel. Materiały i metody. Metodą zbierania danych było przeszukiwanie źródeł wtórnych, zaś strategią analizy danych była analiza dyskursu. Wyniki i wnioski. Tożsamość damy określały dyskursy nowobogactwa, luksusu, doskonałości ciała, wiecznej młodości, zaś wieśniaczki – zaniedbania i biedy, ciała niedoskonałego i nieadekwatnego. W kategorii czasu wolnego wieśniaczki wyróżniono dyskurs pielęgnacji więzi rodzinnych i sąsiedzkich, ludowej zabawy, celebrowania tradycji, zaś damy – dyskurs próżności i konsumpcjonizmu.Aim. The aim of the research is to understand the dominant messages of women living in cities and villages presented in the program “Ladies and Peasants”. The subject of the research is the transmission of the television program. Methods and materials. The data collection method was source searching and the data analysis strategy was discourse analysis. Results and conclusion. The data collection method was searching secondary sources, and the data analysis strategy was discourse analysis. Results. The identity of a lady was defined by discourses such as nouveau riche, luxury, body imperfection, eternal youth, while a peasant woman’s identity was defined by discourses of neglect and poverty, an imperfect and inadequate body. The category of a peasant woman’s family home was dominated by discourses: neglect, sloppiness (dirt), poverty; and for ladies: luxury, fashionable architecture, impeccable cleanliness, space, solitude. In the presentation of family and family life in the discourses of a woman from the countryside, the figure of the Atlas woman (Strong Woman), living in a patriarchal family and a missionary mother, is visible. And ladies: gender equality, a woman conquered and seduced, a longing for motherhood. Professional work in the case of a peasant woman was portrayed as: a good farmer, a submissive wife; and we will give it as “light and pleasant”, “fulfilment of passions and dreams”. In the category of peasant women’s free time, the discourse of cultivating family and neighbourly ties, folk fun, and celebrating traditions was distinguished; and we will give a discourse on vanity and consumerism

Nonadiabatic molecular dynamics simulations shed light on the timescale of furylfulgide photocyclisation

    Get PDF
The sequence of events during the photocyclisation of furylfulgides is not fully understood, and there is a significant disparity between ring closing timescales determined with the use of transient absorption spectroscopy [Siewertsen et al., Phys. Chem. Chem. Phys., 2011, 13, 3800] and the timescale estimated on the basis of nonadiabatic molecular dynamics (NAMD) simulations [Kochman et al., Phys. Chem. Chem. Phys., 2022, 24, 18103]. With a view to resolving this issue, in the present study I report NAMD simulations of the photorelaxation process of a model furylfulgide with a bulky alkyl substituent at carbon atom C3. I employed a pattern recognition algorithm in order to automate the analysis of the simulated trajectories. According to the simulation results, the bulky alkyl group causes a substantial increase in the photocyclisation quantum yield, but the timescale of ring closing is only marginally affected. I discuss the implications of these findings in light of the available spectroscopic data

    Get PDF
Background: Drug-drug and food-drug interactions can affect the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties of drugs, significantly impacting their efficiency and safety profile. Patient awareness of these interactions is vital for their ability to avoid potential risks. Material and methods: A total of 127 patients participated in the study and completed the questionnaire designed to assess their awareness of drug-drug and food-drug interactions, as well as their habits of medicine administration and the sources of information they relied on regarding drug usage. Results: Factors such as young age, female sex, higher education and urban living were linked to a greater awareness of drug-drug and food-drug interactions. Most patients reported using water to swallow pills, while some admitted to using tea or juice. Tea consumption was more prevalent among men and elderly individuals. Moreover, a higher level of education was associated with a decreased likelihood of patient consuming tea with prescribed medicines. Conclusions: Effective education regarding drug-drug and food-drug interactions is essential to increase patients’ awareness and mitigate the potential consequences of these interactions. Initiating education on safe pharmacotherapy at the primary school level and emphasizing its significance in the training of future pharmacists and doctors is imperative
