The simulation of business processes in education: Financial accounting simulator [La Simulación de Procesos Empresariales en la Educación: Simulador Contable Financiero]
Education as a basis for the development of societies requires that educational institutions due to the phenomenon of globalization include and generate changes in their teaching processes to be at the forefront. For this reason, this article aims to highlight the benefits of the incorporation of educational software, designed for the accounting and financial area as a didactic tool in the transfer and appropriation of knowledge that contributes to improving learning and knowing the different business processes by means of simulation. In this sense, this writing encourages the use of educational software for teaching business processes. © 2019 AISTI
Model for the prediction of noise generated by fixed sources [Modelo para la predicción del ruido proveniente de fuentes fijas]
Objective: This article proposes a prediction model applicable to the propagation of noise generated by fixed sources as the result of the analysis of the phenomena related to the generation and propagation of sound levels and the subsequent correlation between the estimated levels and the data recorded in the field. Materials and methods: An experimental program was designed that included the measurement of sound pressure levels with a sound level meter in free field conditions for different weather conditions and distances from the noise emission source for comparison with the levels estimated by ISO 9613 Part 2. A statistical analysis of the data recorded in the field was performed to observe their dependence on the meteorological variables recorded during the measurements. Results and discussion: The standard error for the proposed prediction method is 11.4 dB(A), and the absolute average error is 9.1 dB(A). The correlation coefficient of the proposed model is 0.87. A statistically significant relationship exists between the variables at the 95.0% confidence level. Conclusion: A propagation model that presented a better fit than the method of ISO 9613 Part 2 and a higher correlation coefficient was obtained. © 2019, Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. Conocimientos Sobre La Explotación Sexual Comercial Asociada A Viajes Y Turismo En Estudiantes De Educación Superior
The commercial sexual exploitation of children and adolescents (CSEC) is a crime that is increasing worldwide and it is of great concern because it deals with a type of sexual abuse that violates the rights of children and adolescents. This study aims to identify the knowledge that higher education students in tourism-related programs have about CSEC associated with travel and tourism. For this reason, the Tourism Business Administration Program of the University of Medellin, in agreement with the UNODC, designed and conducted a survey that showed the lack of knowledge and confusion about some aspects of this crime, as well as how to prevent and report it. As a conclusion, the curriculum of undergraduate programs in tourism should be intervened to reinforce knowledge related to the definition of CSEC, the identification of its modalities and the role of the tourism industry in the supply and demand in this type of exploitation. © 2019 International Business Information Management Association (IBIMA)
Breakdowns of the chronology and sense: A narratological approach to from the life of the marionettes [Quiebras de la cronología y sentido: Una aproximación narratológica a De la vida de las marionetas]
The present article proposes an approach to one of the less studied films of the Swedish director Ingmar Bergman: From the life of the Marionettes (Aus dem Leben der Marionetten, 1980). We are particularly interested in the study of the filmic form and the traces of the enunciation as generators of meanings. Therefore, we will use a hybrid methodology that combines the structural analysis of the story with the application of formal microanalysis processes. We intend to demonstrate how strictly formal decisions respond intimately to the question of the meaning that triggers the drama and the complexity of the characters. We will divide the fields of analysis into three specific categories: the chronology of the diegesis (frictions between the time of the story and the time of the film), the system of narrators and the temporal management of the point of view (especially in the significant implications of flashbacks and flash-forwards). © 2019 University of Piura. Osmotic energy, a little-known renewable energy source
When the rivers lead into the sea, it merges two water bodies with different salinity level, releasing a large amount of energy when the solutions equilibrate its concentrations; this phenomenon is known as osmosis. With the purpose to use this energy to transform it into electricity, it has been developed a device with a semi-permeable membrane, when is placed between the solutions with different saline concentration, allows to equalize the concentration at a constant pressure or volume. The membrane behavior on the device is similar to the behavior of the living being cells membrane, that's the reason to call the device as a membrane module. Using a membrane module array is possible to get brackish water, with a pressure corresponding to the osmotic pressure that represents hydraulic energy that could be transformed into electricity by well-known means. This work presents a conceptual methodology for preliminary design of an osmotic power plant, which could be a theoretical reference for different alternatives to generate electricity in the places where it's possible to implement it, as the way to dimension and design the system, including concepts and parameters related to conventional, energy-production processes, allowing to know different methods for energy production that someday could be competitive with the traditional energy generation. © 2016 WIT Press
A systemic model of innovation for regional universities: Literature review [Un Modelo Sistémico de Innovación para Universidades Regionales: Revisión de Literatura]
Regional universities lack or have incipient innovation models. Currently the changes driven by technology and especially by the innovation generated from the technological application, make it necessary for universities to update their organizational structures in order to be relevant for the regions to which they belong. The objective of this work was to review the literature regarding systemic models of innovation that are relevant for regional universities, characterized by an under-entrepreneurial environment and with deficient support by the government. A systematic literature review (SLR) was carried out, this methodology guaranteed that the subject was evaluated in a rigorous, reliable and auditable manner. The main theoretical references found are: Knowledge networks, open innovation, hub and social innovation. In conclusion, an innovation model for regional universities is proposed based on the theoretical referents found and with a systemic approach that allows its evolution and adaptation to the region. This work is part of the doctoral thesis carried out by the author and which will initially have as a case study the Universidad del Magdalena and later its validation with other universities in Colombia. © 2018, Universidad del Zulia. Violence against women as discrimination in contexts of criminal violence: The case of feminicide in Medellín and the State of Mexico [Violência em contra das mulheres como discriminação em contextos de violência criminal: o caso do feminicídio em Medellín e o Estado do México] [Violencia en contra de las mujeres como discriminación en contextos de violencia criminal: el caso del feminicidio en Medellín y el Estado de México]
The increase in violence rates in countries such as Colombia and Mexico has had a differential impact on women, expressed through multiple forms, including its larger scale expression, feminicide. However, its discrimination background has been made invisible by the different actors who hold power, being the most important of them, the State, who, from the regulatory provisions and public policies around the issue, continues to circumscribe the phenomenon to its intimate categories, that is, linking it, mainly, to relationships of affinity and consanguinity. In this regard, in the area of information management on violence against women and feminicide in particular, two fundamental challenges arise: categorization and underreporting. Faced with these, both Colombian and Mexican legislation and public policy have taken important steps; however, in order to attack the structural and symbolic violence that underlies the problem, as the Constitutional Court (2016) affirms in Colombia, it is necessary to integrate the gender perspective into criminal law, thereby making the approach to the test flexible, to allow the introduction of elements of context configurative of gender violence. © 2020 Policia Nacional de Colombia. International conflicts of jurisdiction: Divergences on resolution between the common law system and the civil law [Conflictos internacionales de jurisdicción: Contrastes para su resolución entre el sistema del commom law y el civil law]
This paper addresses the international conflicts of jurisdictions and the cases in which they may arise, in order to identify the existing contrasts on their resolution in the legal tradition of common law and civil law. Thus, when dealing with matters of private interest, legal systems are torn between the application of the forum non conveniens and the lis pendends. On the other hand, in matters involving public interests, the sovereign interest and existing state policies in adjudicating a case-whether due to stability or security issues-must be borne in mind the enforcement of law through extraterritoriality, as well as doctrine of the effects or the group economic unit doctrine. © 2019 Universidad Externado de Colombia. Experimental study of turbulent syngas/methane/air flames at a sub-atmospheric condition
The aim of this work was determined turbulent burning velocities of air-syngas-methane flames at sub-atmospheric conditions using the angle method and Schlieren imaging. We analyzed a high hydrogen content syngas that can be obtained with a Conoco-Phillips coal gasification process. Equivalence ratios evaluated here correspond to lean combustion conditions: 0.8-1.0. Experiments were carried out at room temperature of 297 K and 849 mbar. The chemical-turbulence interaction was evaluated considering geometric parameters, laminar flame properties, and turbulence length scales. It was found that the turbulent burning velocity and the ratio between turbulent and laminar burning velocities increases with the turbulence intensity. Additionally, the addition of syngas to methane increases the laminar and turbulent burning velocity. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd
Electronic and magnetic properties of pentagonal nanoribbons
We systematically study the electronic and magnetic properties of one dimensional derivatives of a family of materials closely related to penta-graphene, obtained from it by replacing the four-fold coordinated carbon atoms by other elements. Due to quantum confinement and edge effects, pentagonal nanoribbons reveal unusual electronic and magnetic characteristics. Depending on the specific pentagonal material and edge geometries, these systems can hold spin-unpolarized states or magnetic states with diverse electronic behavior. Different magnetic configurations such as bipolar semiconductors or half-metals may be tuned by the application of an external electric field. A complete classification of the pentagonal nanoribbons is developed using magnetic space group methods, giving clear selection rules of the possible magnetic phases and their relation to symmetry breaking, edge configuration and also their evolution under the action of an external electric field.
