Ocio y tiempo libre.
Introduction: The objective of this study was to analyze the effect of caffeine ingestion in soccer
performance, particularly in the countermovement jump test (CMJ).
Material and Methods: A total of 17 players from a U-19 amateur Spanish team participated in
this pilot study. A double-blind placebo-controlled randomized experimental design was used
in 2 different sessions (1.5 hour per session) separated by 1 week. CMJ was collected at the
beginning and at the end of sessions; Rating of Perceived Exertion (RPE) was recorded. Players
ingested caffeine or placebo at the beginning of session (minute 0 of session), providing a total
of 4mg of caffeine or a placebo per kg of body mass. Side effects from caffeine and placebo
ingestions were analyzed. The effect sizes (ES) were calculated using values for Cohen’s and
Quantitative differences were assessed qualitatively (QA).
Results: The jump height with caffeine supplementation at the beginning of training was 37.03
(±3.87) cm and at the end was 39.35 (±4.05) cm, obtaining significant improvements (p<0.05;
ES:0.56; QA:99/1/0). Significant differences on CMJ at the end of the training session between
caffeine and placebo groups were observed (39.35 [±4.05] cm vs. 36.85 [±3.15] cm; p<0.05;
ES:0.65; QA:0/1/99). Significant differences on RPE between groups were observed. A nonsignificant tendency to suffer more side effects with caffeine ingestion was obtained.
Conclusions: This study shows how the ingestion of 4mg of caffeine per kg of body mass could
be an ergogenic aid to improve soccer performance. However, further studies with bigger soccer
players sample would be necessary to refute the present results
Women-Authored Retellings of the Classical Tradition: A Critical Survey of Scholarship and the Literary Polysystem in Spain
Grounded in the new outward turn in Translation Studies, Even-Zohar’s polysystem theory, and Genette’s palimpsests and paratextual theory, this study examines the most recent Spanish critical reception of women-authored narrative rewritings of the classical tradition, with a focus on understanding how these works are classified or positioned in the Spanish literary system. Furthermore, Spanish translations of the novels under examination, as well as original Spanish-language texts, are traced to outline the current publishing landscape and examine how they are categorised. The ultimate aim is to present an overview of women-authored retellings of the classical tradition and their reception in twenty-first-century Spain, evaluating possible editorial and critical trends, as well as tools for their analysis. The results may also prove useful for the study of these texts within other polysystems, offering comparative insights into their adaptation, circulation and reception across different literary and cultural contexts.Departamento de Filología y Traducció
Think Globally, Act Locally: A Glocal Approach Based onthe Regional Report Cards From Spain in the AHKGAGlobal Matrix 4.0
Background
The Global Matrix initiative aims to create a world map of indicators related to physical activity to provide the most up-to-date information for decision-making. In the latest edition, three regions from Spain joined the initiative, based on a ‘glocal’ approach. The objectives of this study were (i) to compare the grades of the Report Card and the public policies between and within the Spanish regions and with the national Report Card; (ii) to evaluate sex differences; and (iii) to identify differences in the policy priorities between regions and the national policy.
Methods
The three regions studied and the country followed a harmonized process to develop a Report Card. The common physical activity indicators included in the Global Matrix 4.0 were analysed. The Government indicator was analysed using an approved methodology. Additionally, sex-specific information was provided. Report Card leaders provided the main priorities to improve the indicators included in the analysis, and a comparison by indicator was performed.
Results
Regional differences were observed in the grades assigned to the behavioural indicators included; however, the average grades were similar, with Extremadura showing the lowest average. Grades for the sources of influence indicators differed in the analysed Report Cards.
Conclusion
Regional Report Cards analysed in Spain differ among themselves, with similar average grades in the behavioural indicators. These identified regional differences could lead to a more ‘glocal’ approach that will allow for more efficient action at the local level.
Determination and execution of the reviewable life imprisonment penalty
Reviewable life imprisonment was introduced in Spanish criminal code in 2015. It is a punishment that has been effectively imposed by courts of justice since then. This penalty appears in principle in the catalogue of art. 35 Cp not as a form of imprisonment, but as a distinct custodial sentence. However, this supposedly autonomous penalty is nowhere defined, nor is its content established as distinct from that of a prison sentence, and the legislator limits himself to providing for a series of limitations on access to permits, the third degree and conditional release. The lack of specific regulation, together with its dubious legal nature, leads to numerous problems regarding its determination and the regime foreseen for its execution. In this paper we will analyse the most relevant questions, to which, after a study of the doctrine on the subject, we will attempt to provide an answer.Universidad Pablo de Olavid

Female artists in the Peruvian viceroyalty. Between economic needs and the desire for social recognition
The following paper has the purpose of providing greater exposure to the cases of four female artists belonging to the Peruvian viceroyalty era, which would result in stating new inquiries regarding the study of artistic history during the aforementioned period. It is not until the XVII century that cases of women associated to the practice of drawing and painting can be identified, which exhibit conspicuous economic and social differences. To Illustrate, we assess the cases of three widows and the unusual scenario of a woman who, based on the social prestige she already possessed, sought instead greater recognition (further supported by a prestigious institution: Madrid’s Academy of San Fernando). Analyzed from a gender perspective, these artists’ cases intend to enrich the current perception of women in the Peruvian viceroyalty’s art and society.
Determining dimensions of tourist accommodation for the segmentation of the impact of regional tourism in Spain
The significant growth of the tourism sector in the last decade has led to the appearance of new
types of accommodation. The objective herein is to determine the dimensions that characterise the Spanish
tourist accommodation sector, and to analyse its impact on a regional scale. The methodology used applies
Multivariate Analysis techniques. Five determining dimensions of the tourist accommodation sector are
identified, with special emphasis on aspects related to the labour market, to the supply and demand of the
sector and to efficiency. A positive, albeit uneven, impact on regional economies is evident, with location and
the preferred type of tourism as determining factors for success. “Sun and sand” holiday tourism, predominant
in the Mediterranean regions and the Spanish archipelagos, favours traditional accommodation such as
hotels and tourist flats, while other types of tourism opt for alternative forms of accommodation, such as
campsites and hostels.Departamento de Economía, Métodos Cuantitativos e Historia Económic
