Working time in dual vocational training employment contracts: The unnoticed obsolescence of article 11(2) of the labour code due to its misalignment with educational law
The analysis of the legal regulation of working conditions primarily focuses on labour legislation, including collective bargaining. Rules from other legal branches rarely influence the conclusions drawn from such analysis, with few exceptions, such as public employment. However, educational legislation has unexpectedly impacted the dual vocational training contract regulated under Article 11(2) of the Labour Code. This influence is so significant that labour rules may become inapplicable when they conflictwith the structure of training processes. Compliance with educational legislation has triggered a paradigm shift in this type of contract, introducing a multiparty employment relationship in which the educational administration assumes an unprecedentedly prominent role. Moreover, the “training programme” emerges as a new source of labour rights and obligations. Working time exemplifies this new reality.Universidad Pablo de Olavid
The witch in 21st century audiovisual fiction: transformations of the stereotype in post- 9/11 horror television productions
Under a patriarchal gaze, the witch has represented the feminine perverse, establishing herself as the antithesis of the normative model of femininity. From the lab to the river: Bimetallic clinoptilolite photocatalyst for antibiotic-resistant bacteria and emerging contaminants removal
The presence of contaminants of emerging concern and antibiotic-resistant bacteria in aquatic environments is a major global challenge. Heterogeneous photo-Fenton-type treatments have proven effective; however, affordable and sustainable catalysts are needed to address real-world water treatment challenges. For the first time, we report the efficacy of a heterogeneous bimetallic Fe-Cu clinoptilolite catalyst, which can remove up to 29 contaminants of emerging concern (pharmaceuticals, metabolites, industrial products, herbicides and insecticides) at concentrations ranging from 6.38 to 2358 ng/L, and inactivate naturally occurring bacteria (Escherichia coli and total coliforms) from Guadaíra River water (Spain) to the detection limit of 1 CFU/100 mL. Heterogeneous photo-Fenton (1 g/L of NZ-Fe-Cu catalyst, 2.9 mM H2O2 and visible light: 410–710 nm / 9 W/m2) was the selected method for treating real river water. The successful synthesis of the material was demonstrated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM/EDX). DR-UV-Vis measurements allowed the estimation of the optical band gap, which was used to evaluate the photocatalytic performance of the bimetallic zeolite. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) allowed the determination of the charge of iron and copper cations in the zeolite. The photocatalytic mechanism of this new material was investigated, including hydroxyl radical detection, reusability, and stability (Fe- and Cu-leaching tests). Complete inactivation of antibiotic-resistant bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphilococcus aureus (initial concentration ≈ 106 CFU/mL) without further regrowth for 24 h was achieved. These results highlight the potential of this new catalyst for the decontamination and disinfection of river water, supporting its suitability for reclaimed water in agricultural irrigation and its promising applicability in broader wastewater treatment applications.Departamento de Biología Molecular e Ingeniería Bioquímic

Power, art and gender. The female patronage of the Ducal House of Medina Sidonia in the Modern Age.
The prominent role of the female components of the Hispanic aristocracy in the patronage artistic of the Modern Age, is evident in the Ducal House of Medina Sidonia during the sixteenth century with Mrs. Ana de Aragón and Mrs. Leonor Manrique de Sotomayor, mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. Their total assumption of ideals with those of the lineage, will determine a thoughtful and determined constructive programming and patronage over the arts. Activity shown not only in the private and religious domestic architecture, with conventual foundations and patronage of their artistic and cultic trousseaus, related to their feminine condition due to their devotional character, but in an expensive and thoughtful military construction programming as an instrument of control of the territory and dominance, used together as an emblem of power and prestige.Área de Historia del Art
The mancomun, which has an ancient origin as an organization for the defense of the territory, has suffered territorial modifications that were a product of the forestry concessions of the 20th century, as well as the imposition of the agrarian community and the for!mation of the EFC. These processes have been intertwined, and although they leave little visible evidence, their details are revealed in the landscape through the testimonies of those who lived with them. The most important lesson that is taken up is that while the agrarian mancomun begins to fragment within, the validity of the municipal organization through institutions such as the tequio, is reproduced by the communities under a scheme of agrarian authorities. At the same time, the EFC develops outside the dynamics of the territory, although cohesive to the identity of the eight communities.
Health professionals' perceptions of a group intervention to address men's psychosocial distress
Proyectos de investigación
Proyecto de Excelencia, Junta de Andalucía. ProyExcel_00138Background: Men’s psychosocial distress rates are underestimated, and the reason may be linked to gender mandates which make them reluctant to seek help. Their distress and mental health problems, therefore, may be silenced and are being concealed from the health system. In this line, the Andalusian Public Health System (Spain) is currently developing an initiative to address psychosocial distress: the GRUSE (socio-educational groups) intervention. The study objective was to explore how health professionals perceived the impact of the intervention initiative on men experiencing psychosocial distress.
Methods: A qualitative phenomenological approach was followed. Four focus groups took place between 2023 and 2024 in which health professionals participated (n = 37). A semi-structured script was used. Two researchers (interviewer and observer) implemented the groups, audio-recorded the discourses, and subsequently transcribed them for later analysis. Twenty-five codes were defined and sorted into five thematic categories.
Results: The health professionals underscored the fact that hegemonic masculinity norms have negative effects on men’s health. They highlighted group intervention as a valuable and effective health system strategy to promote mental health based on a non-medicalising approach. The professionals stressed that the group presented the benefit of providing a platform for emotional containment, peer support, and the generation of networks. In addition, a change in the men’s attitude was observed after the intervention: though initially reluctant, they learned to seek help, without perceptions of male weakness.
Conclusions: The health professionals recognised the benefits of the intervention for the male participants but found it difficult to initially engage and involve men. Therefore, the challenge is to design specific strategies to increase men’s participation and achieve greater overall effectiveness and social impact. It is important to consider the gender perspective when implementing this type of intervention and to train health professionals to ensure the non-reproduction of traditional gender roles.Departamento de Trabajo Social y Servicios Sociale
From the invisible to the celebrated. Women sculptors and women sculptors of the centuries of the Baroque in Andalusia
Throughout the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, the Fine Arts were subject to the rules of the guilds, which meant that, throughout this period, the working situation was marked by male dynamics. However, we must not forget the role played by women both in the social fabric of the period and in the life and work of artists. Either through their management, setting the household rhythms, or by participating, in some way, in everything to do with the artistic workshops. In the case of sculpture, we can also see the enormous weight that women had in the lives of the sculptors, to the point that without them most of them would not have been able to develop their work with plenitude. But we also find outstanding examples of women who were able to practice sculpture on the same level as men, as in the case of Luisa Roldán. It was thanks, firstly, to their training within the family environment, and later, to their own sculptural work, that they achieved well-deserved recognition not only in their own time but also in later centuries, thus becoming, and having defied the rules of the guilds, a reference model for so many other women.Área de Historia del Art

CNS2023-143665Carex sect. Fecundae (Cyperaceae) is a taxonomically complex group of sedges endemic to mid to high-elevation habitats in the Neotropics. In this study, we present a comprehensive taxonomic revision of the section based on the examination of >1200 herbarium specimens,
fieldwork, and statistical analysis of morphological characters. We recognize 39 species, including 18 previously undescribed. Detailed morphological descriptions, photographs, typifications, distributions, phenology data, and species-specific notes are provided. This revision also presents the first identification key for the complete section in >100 years. Our results clarify species boundaries within Carex sect. Fecundae and reveal previously unrecognized diversity. This work lays the foundation for future phylogenetic and biogeographic research on one of the least studied groups of Neotropical sedges.Departamento de Biología Molecular e Ingeniería Bioquímic
