Santa María de Rioseco: el desarrollo histórico-arquitectónico del Monasterio, la relación con su entorno y el papel de la sociedad en los desafíos actuales
Este trabajo se centra en el estudio del monasterio cisterciense de Santa María de Rioseco (Burgos), considerándolo como una obra con permanencia en el tiempo desde el siglo XII hasta nuestros días.
De acuerdo con ello, se aborda su evolución histórica destacando las diferentes fases por las que ha ido atravesando. Ligado a estas, se considera su desarrollo artístico que va presentando distintas características en conexión con su trayectoria a lo largo del tiempo. Finalmente, se estudia el protagonismo que fue ejerciendo en su marco social, otorgando especial atención al proceso de recuperación actual a través de la concientización social e institucional.This work focuses on the study of the cistercian monastery Santa Maria de Rioseco in Burgos, Spain, which is considered as an architectural production that embodies endurance over time back to the 12th century to the present day.
Accordingly, its historical evolution is analysed detaching the different phases that has passed through. Closely linked to this, its artistical development is discussed from the various features, as well as their evolution over time. Lastly, its leading role in the social context is examined by giving special attention to its recovering-restoration process through social and institutional awareness.Doctorado en Humanidades y Comunicació
Analysing the Impact of Generative AI in Arts Education: A Cross-Disciplinary Perspective of Educators and Students in Higher Education
Generative AI refers specifically to a class of Artificial Intelligence models that use existing data to create new content that reflects the underlying patterns of real-world data. This contribution presents a study that aims to show what the current perception of arts educators and students of arts education is with regard to generative Artificial Intelligence. It is a qualitative research study using focus groups as a data collection technique in order to obtain an overview of the participating subjects. The research design consists of two phases: (1) generation of illustrations from prompts by students, professionals and a generative AI tool; and (2) focus groups with students (N = 5) and educators (N = 5) of artistic education. In general, the perception of educators and students coincides in the usefulness of generative AI as a tool to support the generation of illustrations. However, they agree that the human factor cannot be replaced by generative AI. The results obtained allow us to conclude that generative AI can be used as a motivating educational strategy for arts education

Metal(loid) tolerance, accumulation, and phytoremediation potential of wetland macrophytes for multi-metal(loid)s polluted water
Natural based solutions, notably constructed/artificial wetland treatment systems, rely heavily on identification and use of macrophytes with the ability to tolerate multiple contaminants and grow for an extended period to reduce contamination. The potential to tolerate and remediate metal(loid) contaminated groundwater from an industrial site located in Flanders (Belgium) was assessed for 10 wetland macrophytes (including Carex riparia Curtis, Cyperus longus Baker, Cyperus rotundus L., Iris pseudacorus L., Juncus effusus L., Lythrum salicaria L., Mentha aquatica L., Phragmites australis Trin. ex Steud., Scirpus holoschoenus L., and Typha angustifolia L.). The experiment was conducted under static conditions, where plants were exposed to polluted acidic (pH ~ 4) water, having high level of metal(loid)s for 15 days. Plant biomass, morphology, and metal uptake by roots and shoots were analysed every 5 days for all species. Typha angustifolia and Scirpus holoschoenus produced ~ 3 and ~ 1.1 times more dried biomass than the controls, respectively. For S. holoschoenus, P. australis, and T. angustifolia, no apparent morphological stress symptoms were observed, and plant heights were similar between control and plants exposed to polluted groundwater. Higher concentrations of all metal(loid)s were detected in the roots indicating a potential for phytostabilization of metal(loid)s below the water column. For J. effusus and T. angustifolia, Cd, Ni, and Zn accumulation was observed higher in the shoots. S. holoschoenus, P. australis, and T. angustifolia are proposed for restoration and phytostabilization strategies in natural and/or constructed wetland and aquatic ecosystems affected by metal(loid) inputs.Financiación de acceso abierto gracias al acuerdo CRUE-CSIC con Springer Nature. Hybrid Hydroxyapatite–Metal Complex Materials Derived from Amino Acids and Nucleobases
Artículo de revisiónCalcium phosphates (CaPs) and their substituted derivatives encompass a large number of compounds with a vast presence in nature that have aroused a great interest for decades. In particular, hydroxyapatite (HAp, Ca10(OH)2(PO4)6) is the most abundant CaP mineral and is significant in the biological world, at least in part due to being a major compound in bones and teeth. HAp exhibits excellent properties, such as safety, stability, hardness, biocompatibility, and osteoconductivity, among others. Even some of its drawbacks, such as its fragility, can be redirected thanks to another essential feature: its great versatility. This is based on the compound’s tendency to undergo substitutions of its constituent ions and to incorporate or anchor new molecules on its surface and pores. Thus, its affinity for biomolecules makes it an optimal compound for multiple applications, mainly, but not only, in biological and biomedical fields. The present review provides a chemical and structural context to explain the affinity of HAp for biomolecules such as proteins and nucleic acids to generate hybrid materials. A size-dependent criterium of increasing complexity is applied, ranging from amino acids/nucleobases to the corresponding macromolecules. Big data analysis of Spanish wine consumers reviews
Purpose: Wine is a complicated and difficult product to know, which makes it extremely difficult for people with little knowledge to choose the wine they want. This study aims to analyze whether the vocabulary used in reviews on wine written by experts and amateurs on the specialized website is useful for those consumers who wish to search for information on this website to choose a wine.
Design/methodology/approach: The analysis combines text mining, Natural Language Processing and the Biterm Topic model applied to 25,847 reviews, evaluating a total of 13,263 Spanish wines made by 17 selected users of a specialized wine website.
Findings: The results show that wine consumers and users of the specialized wine website who write reviews can be divided into expert users and amateur users. Both experts and amateurs use a specific vocabulary related to the wines they review. Unlike amateurs, experts have a broader and more precise vocabulary, and greater consistency in the use of words with the aspects of the wine. For the revised wines, they address fewer and more specific aspects of wine (such as vintages), but they do so with more depth and rigor.
Originality/value: The originality and value of this research work lie in addressing two aspects that have hardly been analyzed: the reviews of experienced consumers and amateur consumers, and the textual information referring to the Spanish language, which distinguishes this analysis from other similar analyses carried out on the English language
On weakly compact multilinear operators and interpolation
We study weakly compact multilinear operators. We prove a variant of Gantmacher’s weak compactness theorem for multilinear operators. We also present Lions–Peetre type results on weak compactness interpolation for multilinear operators. Furthermore, we provide an analogue of Persson’s result on interpolation of weakly compact operators under the assumption that the target Banach couple satisfies a certain weakly compact approximation property.The first named author was supported in part by UCM Grant PR3/23-30811. Biorefinery approach for the development of an integrated extraction and purification process for the recovery of pectin derived compounds and flavonoids from onion peels
This work aims the valorisation of onion peels by recovering high added value compounds (flavonoids and pectin derived compounds (PDC)) in a three stages water-based cascade process, using subcritical water (SubW) hydrolysis and diafiltration using ceramic tubular membranes. After quercetin and derivatives were recovered in a hydroalcoholic extraction process, the onion peels were subjected to a SubW process that yielded three different hydrolysates (severity factors in the range 2.88–3.29). These hydrolysates resulted to be complex multicomponent mixtures with variable shares of partially hydrolysed PDC, degradation products (HMF, furfural, organic acids) and free monosaccharides. The 50 kDa membrane effectively removed more than 98 % of the impurities present in the hydrolysates after a dilution volume of 3.5. In order to mitigate the observed membrane fouling, a pre-treatment step via centrifugation was used to remove colloidal matter besides colour which allowed the use of the 5 kDa membrane to obtain a retentate that contained over 80 % of the initial PDC with a final purity of 82 % after a dilution volume of only 2.0.This work was supported by the Agencia Estatal de Investigación (AEI) though projects PID2020–116716RJ-I00/ AEI / 10.13039/501100011033, PID2019–104950RB-I00 / AEI / 10.13039/501100011033 and TED2021–129311B-I00
