The purpose of the Final Degree Project discussed in this document is to develop a business plan for a
day centre. Nowadays, the phenomenon of population aging is increasing, making it necessary to provide
services aimed at the elderly, especially those that promote and improve their health and well-being.
Likewise, by locating the company in Lerma, it contributes to stopping the depopulation trend that occurs
in Burgos, making it possible for the inhabitants of the Arlanza region to have a social service that serves
as an alternative to residence, and that does not separate the elderly from their environment

The main objective of this dissertation is to approach the reality of wine tourism from the perspective of creating memorable wine tourism experiences and a model of global sustainability, covering the social, environmental and economic dimensions, following the framework of the United Nations 2030 Agenda. In this context, the connection between tourism, wine tourism and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is crucial. For their part, these goals are interconnected, meaning that progress on one requires progress on others. They are designed to be clear, concise, and accessible, to inspire action and to be applicable in all countries of the world
The aim of this study is to identify whether there are substantive
differences in the career development of men and women who
have held the presidency in a Latin America country. To do this, we
reconstruct the trajectory of the 162 men and women that have,
under democracy, been the chief executives of their government in
the region between 1978 and 2022. From the reconstruction of their
political careers, we propose a classification of career profiles based
on three dimensions: capital of origin, entry channel into politics,
and capitalisation after leaving the presidency. The data show
differentiated patterns by gender
Evolution Of Honduran Partisan Competition. From Low Ideological Polarization to Radicalization
This article addresses the role of ideology in the dynamics of Honduran party competition from 1994 to the present. For this purpose, we carried out an analysis of the structure of the ideological competition in Honduras’ party system. We used survey data on ideological self-placement of this country’s legislators and their perception of the parties’ positions on the left- right dimension. The analysis shows a transformation of a party system where, for decades, electoral competition was characterized by its low level of ideological polarization towards a more polarized system. These results allow us to verify the important changes produced in the structure of the Honduran party system since the 2013 general elections. Afterwards, the competitiveness and fragmentation of the party system increased significantly
Affective Polarization and Consensus Building Among Parliamentary Elites
This article presents evidence that political representatives in Spain exhibit significant levels of affective polarization, drawing on data from a 2022 to 2023 survey of Spanish Members of Parliament (MPs) in the national and regional parliaments. These attitudes, measured by affective social distance from supporters of other parties, hinder parliamentary agreements but only in regional parliaments, a tendency that is especially visible among leftist and nationalist representatives toward supporters of the new radical right-wing party (VOX). By contrast, there is no evidence that affective social affinity is associated with less consensual attitudes. Given the absence of studies on affective polarization among political elites, these findings are important because they suggest that, although elites might contribute to the growing trends of pernicious polarization among their supporters and may deteriorate compromise at the regional level, this kind of polarization does not necessarily preclude consensus and agreement in national politics. The data on which this research is based come from the project‘The social construction of political consensus in multiparty settings’ (PID2019-108667GB-I00),funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovatio
Impact ballistic resistance of high workability concrete reinforced with crushed wind-turbine blade
Póster presentado en: 4th World Conference on Advanced Materials for Defense 2024, durante los días 20-22 de junio en Braga (Portugal)The implementation of circular economy in the wind-energy sector can be promoted by recycling the dismantled wind-turbine blades through crushing to produce fibres. The use of those fibres in self-compacting concrete allows improving its ductility and energy absorption, behavior that is analysed in this research by evaluating its impact ballistic resistance. The addition of this waste fibres from a percentage of 4.5% increased the flexural strength and impact ballistic of concrete. Although concrete with those recycled fibres did not reach the performance of conventional concrete, this study meant a starting point to try to develop concrete with that waste that exhibits high resistance to such external stressesThis research work was supported by the Spanish Ministry of Universities, MICINN, AEI, EU, ERDF and NextGenerationEU/PRTR [grant numbers PID2023-146642OB-I00; 719 10.13039/501100011033; TED2021-129715 B–I00]; the Junta de Castilla y León (Regional Government) and ERDF [grant number UIC-231; BU033P23
Evaluation of the behaviour of structural concrete bearing waste wind-turbine blade under tensile stresses
It is generally acknowledged that it is an urgent task of the concrete industry to find new ways
of introducing waste materials in their mixtures in order to increase its sustainability. Wind
power industry can play an important role in this challenge, while solving the problem of the
recycling of the old wind turbine structures that are reaching the end of their lifecycle, which
is currently imperative. Hence, the need for the disposal of Waste Wind-Turbine Blade
(WWTB) sets an opportunity to introduce it after crushing as a raw material in concrete, being
able to reduce its content of natural aggregates and cement. This research aims to conduct an
exhaustive material characterization and analyse the feasibility of adding WWTB in concrete
for structural purposes. For this study, five different concrete mixes were produced with
variable WWTB volume contents (0.0%, 1.5%, 3.0%, 4.5% and 6.0%). The amount of
siliceous aggregate used in all five mixtures remained invariable, as well as the cement
content. All the resulting mixtures were characterised in terms of the slump, fresh- and
hardened-density tests. Besides, splitting tensile strength and flexural strength allowed
evaluating the performance of the concrete mixes under tensile stresses. The results
demonstrate that a rise in the WWTB content up to 1.5% can result in a slight increase of the
splitting tensile strength, whereas high contents of this waste (6.0%) allow maintaining
constant the flexural strength. The values of both properties remain approximately stable
when adding WWTB, thus preserving the basic mechanical properties of structural concrete.
According to this study, it is feasible to evaluate the addition of WWTB as a method of
obtaining structural concrete without compromising any of its tensile-related mechanical
properties, simultaneously transform an industry hitherto considered polluting into a more
sustainable one. This research work was supported by the Spanish Ministry of Universities, MICINN, AEI, EU, ERDF and NextGenerationEU/PRTR [grant numbers PID2020-113837RB-I00; 10.13039/501100011033; TED2021-129715B-I00; FPU21/04364]; the Junta de Castilla y León (Regional Government) and ERDF [UIC-231; BU066-22]; and, finally, the University of Burgos [grant number SUCONS, Y135.GI]
