TInnGo: Transport innovative gender observatory. Spanish hub. Taxi case study

it is the specific case of the transport sector. This lack of balance gender-wise is even more
visible in the taxi industry, leading to a gender gap that should be filled in the next years.
Flexibility, loyal customer network and friendly environment are some of the opportunities
highlighted in the study. Besides, entry barriers are also outlined, like the initial
investment, misunderstandings between colleagues at the beginning and shortage of
communication skills.
All the findings derive from real women who have been working in the industry for more
than ten years, so that the evolution of the taxi sector from a gender point of view has been
also considered and explained through real lived experiences.
In the present study, an exhaustive analysis of the situation of the Spanish taxi sector is
presented and analyzed. Based on real interviews to female taxi drivers, the main
opportunities, and entry barriers and obstacles of working in the taxi sector are collected
and used to assess how the transport sector fits the key needs of the interviewees and favor
the work-life balance.
All data regarding the city and participants to the case study are kept anonymous.
This analysis is done in the framework of the European project TInnGO which main
objective is to create a framework and mechanisms for a sustainable game change in
European transport through a transformative strategy of gender and diversity sensitive

"Historia de la novela" de Andrés González Blanco y Emilia Pardo Bazán
Get PDFAndrés González Blanco propuso a través de su Historia de la novela (1909) una nueva aproximación a la teoría del género que conllevaba también un cambio en el modelo de la crítica literaria. En el presente estudio revisamos sus propuestas teóricas sobre la novela, que han sido largamente ignoradas, para interpretar en qué medida su Historia representaba una alternativa respecto a otros discursos críticos coetáneos, como por ejemplo el de Emilia Pardo Bazán: su distancia respecto al trabajo de Eduardo Gómez de Baquero, pero su convergencia, también, con otros discursos que, sin embargo, han sido silenciados u olvidados. En concreto, González Blanco desafía las ideas comúnmente aceptadas sobre la historia literaria o el concepto de novela, a través de un lenguaje hegeliano oscuro y lleno de paradojas. Defendió, también, el subgénero de la novela psicológica y aristocrática, cuyo máximo representante era Paul Bourget en Francia, y que en España había sido particularmente difundida por Pardo Bazán. Fue la capacidad de la autora gallega para apropiarse del subgénero psicológico lo que la convertía, según González Blanco, en el autor canónico para la novela moderna en España

Modelling hydrogenation during cold dwell fatigue of additively manufactured titanium alloys

Additive Manufacturing (AM) processes have been proposed in order to reduce material waste and optimise mechanical properties. In addition, throughout these manufacturing processes and during service life, hydrogen uptake is expected, and the corresponding modification of mechanical properties needs to be modelled. Hydrogenation process including diffusion, trapping and hydride formation in a Ti-6Al-4V alloy during cold dwell fatigue loading, a common failure mode of titanium alloys, is simulated here. All governing equations are implemented in ABAQUS user subroutines. A boundary layer approach is used to simulate how hydrogen redistribution affects hydride kinetics near a blunting crack tip, in which cyclic loading is implemented considering different dwell times. The influence of AM techniques, especially Selective Laser Melting, is expected to promote the increase in martensite phase and microstructure defects due to rapid cooling; thus, the influence of martensite volume fraction and of trapping density on hydrogen redistribution near the crack tip is analysed. The possibility to implement hydrogen and hydride-induced dilatation is also presented, as well as a hydrogen-dependent localised plasticity model. This framework facilitates the prediction of how additive manufacturing processes affect susceptibility to hydrogen embrittlement in Ti-6Al-4V components subjected to dwell fatigue.The authors gratefully acknowledge financial support from the Junta of Castile and Leon through grant BU-002- P20, co-financed by FEDER funds

The role of national culture as a lens for stakeholder evaluation of corporate social performance and its effect on corporate reputation
No full textStudies have shown that corporate social performance (CSP) is an antecedent of corporate reputation, acting as a signal that affects stakeholders’ perceptions and expectations about a firm’s future behavior. However, the perceptions, expectations, and interests of stakeholders may be affected by external factors, such as national culture, which shapes their beliefs about what role companies play in society. Drawing on institutional theory and Hofstede’s cultural dimensions, we analyze how stakeholders’ national culture moderates the relationship between CSP and corporate reputation. The results of the analysis of an international sample for the period 2010 to 2016 show that low individualism (i.e., collectivism), low masculinity (i.e., femininity), low power distance, and low uncertainty avoidance intensify the positive relationship between CSP and corporate reputation
On the contribution to the alignment during an organizational change: Measurement of job satisfaction with working conditions
No full textIntroduction: Modern approaches to Occupational Health and Safety have acknowledged the important contribution that continuous improvements to working conditions can make to the motivation of employees, their subsequent performance, and therefore to the competitiveness of the company. Despite this fact, organizational change initiatives represent a path less traveled by employees. Specialized literature has drawn on the fact that employees’ satisfaction presents both the foundation and catalyst for effective implementation of improvements to working conditions. Method: This paper conceptualizes the alignment of employees through measurement of job satisfaction and uses the Bayesian Network to assess the influence of human factors, particularly the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral aspects. Toward this aim, the Bayesian Network is evaluated through a cross-validation process, and a sensitivity analysis is then conducted for each influential dimension: emotional, cognitive, and behavioral. Results: The results reveal that these three dimensions are interrelated and have a direct influence on job satisfaction and employees’ alignment during the organization change. Further, they suggest that the best strategy for enhanced alignment and smooth conduct of organizational changes is simultaneous enhancement of the three dimensions. Practical applications: This study shows the influence of emotional, cognitive, and behavioral dimensions on job satisfaction and employees’ alignment during the organizational change. Furthermore, it elaborates the way to develop efficient and effective strategies for a successful change implementation and sustained alignment

No full textLas técnicas de Realidad Virtual (RV) se han asentado ya como una de las
soluciones más eficaces para la enseñanza demostrativa. La recreación de escenarios
inmersivos para el usuario constituye una metodología muy eficaz para la didáctica
de los contenidos de temática histórica y geográfica. Desde esta perspectiva, el uso de
gafas de realidad virtual es un complemento de notable interés para su uso en
exposiciones temporales. Permite al visitante de la exposición disfrutar de “viajes en
el tiempo”, transportándose a otros escenarios de la historia a través de ese “mundo
paralelo” construido virtualmente. Los escenarios virtuales se utilizan en realidad
como pretexto para la enseñanza de los verdaderos contenidos de interés que
muestra la experiencia, recurriendo al storytelling. En este trabajo se presentan los
resultados de una actividad didáctica basada en el uso de VR aplicada a la divulgación
de contenidos histórico-geográficos en la exposición presencial “Materiales. Una
historia sobre la evolución humana y los avances tecnológicos”, celebrada en el Museo
de la Evolución Humana de Burgos (MEH), entre diciembre de 2020 y marzo de 2021
