Dataset of the work “New screen-printed electrodes for Raman spectroelectrochemistry. Determination of p-aminosalicylic acid”

    No full text
Background: The availability of new surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrates is essential to develop quantitative analytical methods. Electrochemistry is an easy, fast and reproducible methodology to prepare SERS substrates on screen-printed electrodes (SPEs). Results: This work proposes new SPEs based on a three-electrode system all made of silver. Using the same ink for the whole electrode system facilitates the fabrication process, reduces production costs, and leads to excellent analytical performance. The results showed that Raman enhancement depends strongly on the type of silver ink. To demonstrate the capabilities of the new electrodes developed, 4-aminosalicylic acid was determined in complex matrices and in the presence of strong interfering compounds such as salicylic acid and acetylsalicylic acid. The proposed analytical method is based on the electrochemical surface oxidation enhanced Raman scattering (EC-SOERS) strategy. AgCl nanocrystals are generated on the working electrode surface, which amplify the Raman signal of 4-aminosalicylic acid. Good figures of merit were obtained both in the absence and in the presence of the interfering compounds, achieving a correct estimation of a 4-aminosalicylic test sample in complex matrices. Significance: The new SPEs have been demonstrated to be very sensitive and reproducible which, together to the high specificity of the Raman signal, makes this methodology very attractive for chemical analysis.Open Access funding provided thanks to the CRUE-CSIC agreement with Elsevier B.V. No full text
This doctoral thesis focuses on exploring the evolution of cave bear lineages through the study of proteins preserved in the dental enamel of their fossils. Using advanced paleoproteomic techniques, key proteins involved in enamel formation and single amino acid polymorphisms, some described for the first time, were identified, enabling detailed phylogenetic inferences. This interdisciplinary approach combines molecular biology and paleontology to investigate the evolutionary relationships between cave bears and some of the current bear species. Based on the exceptional fossil record of the Sierra de Atapuerca and other sites in southwestern Europe, this research provides, from a proteomic perspective, a deeper understanding of how the evolution of this lineage was shaped during the Pleistocene, enriching our knowledge of the interaction between evolution and environment in extinct species.

    No full text
This doctoral thesis analyzes the coordination between the Property Registry and the Real Estate Cadastre within the Spanish Legal System, taking into account the last major reform of the Mortgage Law and the Real Estate Cadastre Law, which has as its main objective coordination between both institutions, and which has been carried out by Law 13/2015, of June 24. The existing discrepancies between both institutions are analyzed when it comes to regulating the information regarding the description of the property, which is the common element that unites them, as well as the methods used to rectify this discrepancy, with which a conclusion can be reached full coordination between both institutions, making special reference to the graphic georeferencing of the description of the property, as an essential element to reach said coordination. In the analysis of the aforementioned legal reform, the great advance that it has represented in the cooperation and coordination between both institutions is highlighted, and in turn, the promotion of greater agreement between the Property Registry and the physical and legal reality outside the registry, all without yet reaching full coordination between both organizations, this being the ultimate goal that the legislator must aspire to when regulating this matter.Doctorado en Ciencias Jurídicas, Económicas y Sociale

Statistical inference in games: Stability of pure equilibria

    No full text
We consider sampling best response decision protocols with statistical inference in population games. Under these protocols, a revising agent observes the actions of k randomly sampled players in a population, estimates from the sample a probability distribution for the state of the population (using some inference method), and chooses a best response to the estimated distribution. We formulate deterministic approximation dynamics for these protocols. If the inference method is unbiased, strict Nash equilibria are rest points, but they may not be stable. We present tests for stability of pure equilibria under these dynamics. Focusing on maximum-likelihood estimation, we can define an index that measures the strength of each strict Nash equilibrium. In tacit coordination or weakest-link games, the stability of equilibria under sampling best response dynamics is consistent with experimental evidence, capturing the effect of strategic uncertainty and its sensitivity to the number of players and to the cost/benefit ratio.Financial support from the Spanish State Research Agency (PID2024-159461NB-I00/MICIU and PID2020-118906GBI00/MCIN, AEI/10.13039/501100011033/EU-FEDER), from the Regional Government of Castilla y León and the EU-FEDER program (CLU-2019-04 - BIOECOUVA Unit of Excellence Universidad de Valladolid), and from the Spanish Ministry of Universities (PRX22/00064 and PRX22/00065

Screening opportunities for high abilities through overexcitabilities, executive functions, perfectionism, and leadership

    No full text
There is a lack of identification in high abilities, usually due to the lack of economic and temporal resources. One of the possibilities for addressing this issue is the creation of screening methods. This study explores the possibilities of a gender-neutral screening tool based on leadership, executive functions, overexcitability, and perfectionism. Using a quantitative methodology, the study examined differences among male and female highly able students and their non-identified peers. Results revealed no statistically significant differences across the groups, suggesting no difference in those abilities and limited screening possibilities. Logistic regression further indicated that the used tools lacked predictive power for identifying high abilities. These findings highlight the need for refined screening methods that address resource limitations, gender biases, and systemic barriers. Future research should focus on developing effective tools to identify highly able students and ensure equitable access to tailored educational support

The Dispositions for Culturally Responsive Pedagogy Scale (DCRPS): psychometric validation and results among Spanish teachers

    No full text
Educational classrooms are a true reflection of increasingly diverse and unequal societies; therefore, teachers require a specific pedagogical disposition towards their students and teaching that ensures greater social justice. This article describes an instrumental study focused on adapting and validating the Disposition for Culturally Responsive Pedagogy Scale (Whitaker and Valtierra, 2018) in the Spanish population. The main goal is to analyze the psychometric characteristics of this scale, which evaluates the disposition towards Culturally Responsive Education (CRE). There are no known or we have not found any specific instruments in Spanish that analyze teachers’ disposition towards this pedagogy. A quantitative methodology using surveys was administered to teachers at various educational levels and regions in Spain (N = 538). Confirmatory factor analysis revealed an optimal fit for a three-factor structure: educational praxis, community, and social justice, after removing two original items. Reliability analysis showed adequate internal consistency, with Cronbach’s Alpha (α = .942) and McDonald’s Omega (ω = .943). Significant differences in dispositions towards CRE were found based on sex, educational level, and specialty, suggesting the importance of considering these variables when evaluating dispositions towards CRE in different educational contexts. In conclusion, the study provides a first valid and reliable tool to assess teachers’ dispositions towards CRE, contributing to more inclusive and equitable education
