Implantación e industrialización de una nueva célula de fabricación de retenedores

    No full text

    No full text
Cognitive archaeology seeks to access the mental processes of extinct individuals through their material culture. Lithic tools represent the majority of this material culture for the Lower Paleolithic. Human complexity is strongly linked to intelligence, which in turn is connected to the attentional system. This study is based on the analysis of phasic attention in 46 adult individuals during the manipulation of 21 different lithic tools until reaching a comfortable position. To do this, the counting of peaks of electrodermal response was carried out during the total time of haptic exploration for each session, and the results were compared by lithic typology. A differential response was observed for Acheulean-type tools which is likely due to the greater technical complexity of this typology

Utility of Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity for Estimating the Overall Mechanical Behavior of Recycled Aggregate Self-Compacting Concrete

Ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV) is a non-destructive measurement technique with which the quality of any concrete element can be evaluated. It provides information on concrete health and for assessing the need for repair in a straightforward manner. In this paper, the relationship is studied between UPV readings and the mechanical behavior of self-compacting concrete (SCC) containing coarse, fine, and/or powdery RA. To do so, correlations and simple- and multipleregression relationships between compressive strength, modulus of elasticity, splitting tensile strength, flexural strength, and UPV readings of nine SCC mixes were assessed. The correlations showed that the relationship of UPV with any mechanical property was fundamentally monotonic. The inverse square-root model was therefore the best-fitting simple-regression model for all the mechanical properties, although for bending-tensile-behavior-related properties (splitting tensile strength and flexural strength) the estimation accuracy was much lower than for compressive-behavior-related properties (compressive strength and modulus of elasticity). Linear-combination multiple-regression models showed that the properties related to bending-tensile behavior had a minimal influence on the UPV value, and that their introduction resulted in a decreased estimation accuracy. Thus, the multiple-regression models with the best fits were those that linked the compressive-behavior-related properties to the UPV readings. This therefore enables the estimation of the modulus of elasticity when the UPV and compressive strength are known with a deviation of less than ±20% in 87% of the SCC mixes reported in other studies available in the literature. This research was funded by the Spanish Ministry of Universities, MICIN, AEI, EU, ERDF, and NextGenerationEU/PRTR, grant numbers PID2020-113837RB-I00, 10.13039/501100011033, and TED2021-129715B-I00; the Junta de Castilla y León (Regional Government) and ERDF, grant number UIC-231; and the University of Burgos, grant numbers SUCONS, Y135.GI

Modeling Horizontal Ultraviolet Irradiance for All Sky Conditions by Using Artificial Neural Networks and Regression Models

    Get PDF
In the present study, different models constructed with meteorological variables are proposed for the determination of horizontal ultraviolet irradiance (IUV), on the basis of data collected at Burgos (Spain) during an experimental campaign between March 2020 and May 2022. The aim is to explore the effectiveness of a range of variables for modelling horizontal ultraviolet irradiance through a comparison of supervised artificial neural network (ANN) and regression model results. A preliminary feature selection process using the Pearson correlation coefficient was sufficient to determine the variables for use in the models. The following variables and their influence on horizontal ultraviolet irradiance were analyzed: horizontal global irradiance (IGH), clearness index (kt), solar altitude angle (α), horizontal beam irradiance (IBH), diffuse fraction (D), temperature (T), sky clearness (ε), cloud cover (Cc), horizontal diffuse irradiance (IDH), and sky brightness (∆). The ANN models yielded results of greater accuracy than the regression models. This research is a result of the project RTI2018-098900-B-I00 financed by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, project TED2021-131563B-I00 financed by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 and the European Union “NextGenerationEU”/PRTR», and Junta de Castilla y León, under grant number INVESTUN/19/BU/0004

Thiosemicarbazonecopper/Halido Systems: Structure and DFT Analysis of the Magnetic Coupling

    Get PDF
Experimental magnetic studies performed on the [{CuLX}2 ] system (HL = pyridine-2- carbaldehyde thiosemicarbazone, X = Cl−, Br−, I−) point to the larger electronegativity in X, the lower magnitude of the antiferromagnetic interactions. In order to confirm this and other trends observed and to dip into them, computational studies on the [{CuLX}2 ] (X = Cl− (1), I− (2)) compounds are here reported. The chemical and structural comparisons have been extended to the compounds obtained in acid medium. In this regard, chlorido ligands yield the [Cu(HL)Cl2 ]·H2O (3) complex, whose crystal structure shows that thiosemicarbazone links as a tridentate chelate ligand to square pyramidal Cu(II) ions. On the other hand, iodido ligands provoke the formation of the [{Cu(H2L)I2 }2 ] (4) derivative, which contains pyridine-protonated cationic H2L + as a S-donor monodentate ligand bonded to Cu(I) ions. Crystallographic, infrared and electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopic results are discussed. Computational calculations predict a greater stability for the chlorido species, containing both the neutral (HL) and anionic (L−) ligand. The theoretical magnetic studies considering isolated dimeric entities reproduce the sign and magnitude of the antiferromagnetism in 1, but no good agreement is found for compound 2. The sensitivity to the basis set and the presence of interdimer magnetic interactions are debated. This research was funded by the European Union H2020-LC-SC3-2020-NZE-RES-CC, NMBP-16-2020-GA 953152 and DT-NMBP-04-2020 Projects, together with the Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades CTQ(QMC) RED2018-102471-T MultiMetDrugs Network (Spain), PGC2018-093745-B-I00 and PID2019-111215RB-100, Consejería de Educación of Junta de Castilla y León and FEDER BU049P20 and FUNDACION BANCARIA CAIXA D. Bacteriophages as Biotechnological Tools

    Get PDF
Bacteriophages are ubiquitous organisms that can be specific to one or multiple strains of hosts, in addition to being the most abundant entities on the planet. It is estimated that they exceed ten times the total number of bacteria. They are classified as temperate, which means that phages can integrate their genome into the host genome, originating a prophage that replicates with the host cell and may confer immunity against infection by the same type of phage; and lytics, those with greater biotechnological interest and are viruses that lyse the host cell at the end of its reproductive cycle. When lysogenic, they are capable of disseminating bacterial antibiotic resistance genes through horizontal gene transfer. When professionally lytic—that is, obligately lytic and not recently descended from a temperate ancestor—they become allies in bacterial control in ecological imbalance scenarios; these viruses have a biofilm-reducing capacity. Phage therapy has also been advocated by the scientific community, given the uniqueness of issues related to the control of microorganisms and biofilm production when compared to other commonly used techniques. The advantages of using bacteriophages appear as a viable and promising alternative. This review will provide updates on the landscape of phage applications for the biocontrol of pathogens in industrial settings and healthcare. This study was funded by CNPQ and the Federal University of Santa Catarina, SIGPEX UFSC–201917940

    Get PDF
This research aimed to validate the Academic Success and Failure Attribution Questionnaire (ASFAQ) and analyze gender and age differences in middle and high school students in Italy. Methods: From the ASFAQ questionnaire validated with Spanish students, an analysis of the psychometric characteristics of the scale was carried out using a Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). To compare ASFAQ scores by gender and school year, the independent samples parametric t-test and Pearson’s coincidence test were used. (3) Results: in total, 976 students participated in the research, of which 515 were middle school students and 461 were high school students. The results showed a validity of the ASFAQ for Italian students, in addition to statistically significant differences between males and females, and school year. (4) Conclusions: The ASFAQ is reliable and valid to assess the attributional styles of academic success and failure in an Italian context. There are significant differences in sex and school year, and a consequence with age
