This Doctoral Thesis aims to investigate the constitutional and legal provisions of the popular legislative initiative in the current Constitutional States of Brazil and Spain, with the objective of, at the end, presenting proposals for the improvement of the regulations on the subject in Brazil. To this end, the starting point will be an analysis of the links between the Constitutional State and democracy, as well as the intertwining of the macro-principle of the dignity of the human person and political rights, from the perspective of the existence of a crisis of democracy in the Brazilian Constitutional State. The present research aims at the following: Identify what possible constitutional and/or legal alterations could be adopted for the improvement of the popular legislative initiative in Brazil, taking into account its aptitude to contribute, in a complementary way to representative democracy, to the increase of the quality of Brazilian democracy, in a constant feedback of the democratic flow

Dataset of the work “Simultaneous Raman and reflection UV/Vis absorption spectroelectrochemistry”

    No full text
In the present work, a new combination of Raman and ultraviolet and visible (UV/Vis) absorption spectroelectrochemistry in reflection mode is proposed. The new experimental setup allows obtaining the two kinds of spectroscopic data without interferences concomitantly with the electrochemical information. To the best of our knowledge, it is the first time to report the simultaneous obtention of electrochemical, electronic, and vibrational information in the same experiment. This new combination provides time-resolved information about the processes that are taking place on the electrode/solution interface which has significant implications in different fields of chemistry, such as modification of electrodes, studies of electrocatalytic reaction mechanisms, development of sensors, among others. Two different systems were used to demonstrate the advantages and capabilities of the brand-new technique, namely, the oxidation of potassium ferrocyanide, an out-sphere system that is usually employed in the validation of SEC techniques, and the electrochemical-surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (EC-SERS) detection of crystal violet by in-situ formation of the silver SERS substrate, where the UV/Vis spectra were used to follow the formation of the SERS substrate, whereas the Raman response of a probe molecule was used to confirm either the formation of a nanostructured surface and to obtain the fingerprint of the molecule with a high time resolution. The brand-new experimental setup has shown to be useful, versatile, robust, compact, and easy to use for future applications.Authors acknowledge the financial support from Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovacion (No. PID2020-113154RB-C21), Ministerio de Economía, Industria y Competitividad (No. CTQ2017-83935-RAEI/FEDERUE), Junta de Castilla y Leon (No. BU297P18), and Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovacion y Universidades (No. RED2018-102412-T). No full text
Training people with mental illnesses promotes social and labour market inclusion. The evaluation of these programs is essential to determine their scope. The aim is to identify the methods and instruments used in the evaluation of peer education programs for people with mental illness. A documentary review has been carried out. According to the inclusion and eligibility criteria, 56 programs were selected for the analysis. We found that the evaluation methods used are very heterogeneous and the provided information is limited; most of the programs evaluate knowledge, but not the acquired competences through training. It is necessary to collect information at different times and with complementary strategies for an adequate evaluation of the competences. If this is not done, it would be difficult to affirm that the person has developed the necessary competences for their tasks. Serious games, including immersive Virtual Reality (iVR) experiences, can be challenging for players due to their unfamiliar control systems and mechanics. This study focuses on designing a gamified tutorial for iVR serious games that not only teaches iVR interactions but also enhances user enjoyment and engagement. The tutorial consists of progressively challenging mini-games that adapt to the user's performance. Tips and recommendations are provided through a robot avatar if users struggle or make mistakes. An optional narrative is included to enhance user engagement, but it is not mandatory for the iVR experience. Gamification elements, such as point collection and progress updates, are incorporated into the tutorial. It can be played independently or as an introduction to iVR serious games. The goal is to use gamificationprinciples to maintain user engagement and flow while enhancing the learning experience in the virtual world. This work was partially supported by the ACIS project (Reference Number INVESTUN/21/BU/0002) of the Consejeria de Empleo e Industria of the Junta de Castilla y León (Spain), the Erasmus+ RISKREAL Project (2020-1- ES01-KA204-081847) of the European Commission and the HumanAid Project (TED2021-129485B-C43) of the Proyectos Estraté-gicos Orientados a la Transición Ecológica y Digital of the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation

Entrepreneurship identifies opportunities and mobilises resources for personal, social and economic development. In order to move forward in training models, a training programme for entrepreneurial competence (PEIO) has been developed for students in secondary education, baccalaureate and vocational training, based on the development of entrepreneurial potential (EP). This programme considers teachers' beliefs about EP as an influential factor in the construction of an entrepreneurial culture. The aim of this research is to identify teachers' beliefs about entrepreneurial potential as a basis for building an entrepreneurial culture in the classroom. Forty-four teachers from 12 Spanish schools participated. An ad hoc open-ended interview was used and validated by external judges. The data were analysed using Atlas ti v9 software through categorisation, frequencies, concurrences, relationships and densities. The results show the recognition and value given by teachers to the involvement of families in educational work and in business interests, which indicates a change in the involvement of families in educational work. The results also highlight the need to include entrepreneurial skills in educational policies for initial and in-service teacher training.O empreendedorismo identifica oportunidades e mobiliza recursos para o desenvolvimento pessoal, social e econômico. Data Augmentation Effects on Highly Imbalanced EEG Datasets for Automatic Detection of Photoparoxysmal Responses

    No full text
Photosensitivity is a neurological disorder in which a person’s brain produces epileptic discharges, known as Photoparoxysmal Responses (PPRs), when it receives certain visual stimuli. The current standardized diagnosis process used in hospitals consists of submitting the subject to the Intermittent Photic Stimulation process and attempting to trigger these phenomena. The brain activity is measured by an Electroencephalogram (EEG), and the clinical specialists manually look for the PPRs that were provoked during the session. Due to the nature of this disorder, long EEG recordings may contain very few PPR segments, meaning that a highly imbalanced dataset is available. To tackle this problem, this research focused on applying Data Augmentation (DA) to create synthetic PPR segments from the real ones, improving the balance of the dataset and, thus, the global performance of the Machine Learning techniques applied for automatic PPR detection. K-Nearest Neighbors and a One-Hidden-Dense-Layer Neural Network were employed to evaluate the performance of this DA stage. The results showed that DA is able to improve the models, making them more robust and more able to generalize. A comparison with the results obtained from a previous experiment also showed a performance improvement of around 20% for the Accuracy and Specificity measurements without Sensitivity suffering any losses. This project is currently being carried out with subjects at Burgos University Hospital, Spain. This research was funded by the Spanish Ministry of Economics and Industry, Grant PID2020-112726RB-I00, by the Spanish Research Agency (AEI, Spain) under Grant agreement RED2018-102312-T (IA-Biomed), and by the Ministry of Science and Innovation under CERVERA Excellence Network project CER-20211003 (IBERUS) and Missions Science and Innovation project MIG-20211008 (INMERBOT), as well as by Principado de Asturias, Grant SV-PA-21-AYUD/2021/50994
