Hypersensitivity linked to Selective COX-2 Inhibitors following a case of Celecoxib allergy: a Systematic Review
Traballo Fin de Grao en Medicina. Curso 2022-2023Los COXIBs son un grupo de fármacos frecuentemente usados como alternativa a otros AINEs usados con más frecuencia en la práctica clínica ante la aparición de intolerancia, reacción alérgica u otras reacciones adversas. Esto es razonable ya que los COXIBs usados en la actualidad han demostrado ser tolerados por la mayoría de estos pacientes. Sin embargo, esto no significa que estos fármacos están libres de efectos adversos y reacciones alérgicas.
Este documento presenta una introducción a los COXIBs, sus efectos adversos y los productos actualmente comercializados en este grupo de fármacos; seguidos de una revisión
sistemática de todos los artículos científicos que describen reacciones mediadas por hipersensibilidad de los COXIBs. Se descartaron artículos que contenían casos con pacientes con antecedentes de alergia con otros AINEs, para evitar fenómenos de reacción cruzada
como los observados entre Celecoxib y antibióticos del grupo de las Sulfonamidas y otros compuestos con un grupo Sulf
Bonamia-free flat oyster (Ostrea edulis L.) seed for restoration projects: non-destructive screening of broodstock, hatchery production and test for Bonamia-tolerance
Native (flat) oyster (Ostrea edulis) beds, once a major component of the North Sea, largely disappeared from the region in the late 19th century. Flat oyster restoration is taking place at a number of locations in the North Sea. When flat oyster beds are restored in areas where O. edulis is functionally extinct it is advised to treat these as disease-free areas. Adult oysters were collected in the Dutch Delta area which is infected with the pathogenic parasite Bonamia ostreae. The aim of this research was to obtain Bonamia-free seed from parents collected in a Bonamia-infected area. In addition, the oysters were analysed to identify candidate genomic regions related to bonamiosis tolerance and exposed to Bonamia in the field to assess survival compared to a naïve control group. With the aid of a non-destructive screening method, Bonamia-free broodstock were selected. These oysters produced Bonamia-free larvae and seed. For comparison, broodstock oysters were collected in the Dutch Wadden Sea, an area free of Bonamia. These oysters also produced Bonamia-free larvae and seed. To study if the Delta area oysters had developed a degree of resistance to the disease, while the naïve Wadden Sea oysters had not, seed of both groups was challenged in Lake Grevelingen where Bonamia occurs. Survival of the pre-selected Bonamia-free oysters was significantly higher than the naïve group. Samples of seed were analysed for association of candidate genetic markers related to bonamiosis tolerance. A higher percentage of individuals with tolerance-associated marker genotypes was found in the screened group compared to the naïve one. However, mortality of the naïve group could not be related to Bonamia presence. Further challenge tests are needed before firm conclusions regarding the genetic markers can be made. Relación entre la nutrición y el deterioro cognitivo leve
Traballo Fin de Grao en Enfermaría. Curso 2022-2023INTRODUCCIÓN: El deterioro cognitivo leve (DCL) representa un deterioro cognitivo que
constituye un factor de riesgo de demencia. A pesar de los avances farmacológicos, no existen tratamientos efectivos para retrasar o revertir el deterioro cognitivo, en particular de DCL. Se considera que mecanismos inflamatorios y el estrés oxidativo involucrados en la etiología del deterioro cognitivo y la demencia, indican un papel potencial de la nutrición en su prevención
OBJETIVOS: General Analizar la relación entre nutrición y DCL. Específicos 1)Identificar tipos de dieta que prevengan el DCL. 2) Conocer el grado de adherencia a la dieta en pacientes. 3) Conocer los componentes de la dieta con potencial efecto neuroprotector.
MÉTODOS: Revisión sistemática tipo PRISMA-2020. Bases de datos: PubMed, Clinical Trials, Cochrane Library, Scielo, NICE, etc. Intervalo de búsqueda: entre 2019 y 2023. .
RESULTADOS: Se encontraron 154 artículos, tras eliminar los duplicadosy aplicar los criterios GRADE y PRSIMA se incluyeron 13 (9 ECAs, 2 metanalisis, 2 revisión sistemática). Se identificaron 3 patrones dietéticos: dieta mediterránea (DM), Dietary Approach to Stop
Hypertension (DASH), dieta Mediterranean-DASH Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay
(MIND). A todos ellos se les atribuye efecto neuroprotector que es atribuido al efecto antioxidante y antiinflmatorio de sus componentes.
CONCLUSIONES: Los diferentes métodos de puntuación para los patrones dietéticos, el método de encuesta dietética, el área de estudio, el tiempo de seguimiento y el tamaño de la muestra pueden ser las principales fuentes de heterogeneidad. MED y DASH se asociaron con un riesgo reducido de DCL.Una mayor adherencia a MD, DASH y MIND se asoció con un
menor riesgo de trastornos cognitivos. El efecto neuroprotector de las dietas MD, DASH y
MIND se atribuye a su efecto antioxidante, antiinflamatorio y neuroprotector directo. Las
dietas neuroprotectoras podrían ser una herramienta terapútica no farmacológica en el DCLINTRODUCTION: Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) represents a cognitive impairment that
constitutes a risk factor for dementia. Despite pharmacological advances, there are no effective treatments to delay or reverse cognitive decline, particularly MCI. Inflammatory mechanisms and oxidative stress involved in the etiology of cognitive impairment and dementia are considered to indicate a potential role for nutrition in their prevention.
OBJECTIVES: General To analyze the relationship between nutrition and MCI. Specific 1)
Identify types of diet that prevents MCI. 2) To know the degree of adherence to the diet in
patients. 3) Know the components of the diet with potential neuroprotective effect.
METHODS: PRISMA-2020 type systematic review. Databases: PubMed, Clinical Trials,
Cochrane Library, Scielo, NICE, etc. Search interval: between 2019 and 2023.
RESULTS: 154 articles were found, after eliminating duplicates and applying the GRADE and PRSIMA criteria, 13 were included (9 RCTs, 2 meta-analyses, 2 systematic reviews). 3 dietary patterns were identified: Mediterranean diet (DM), Dietary Approach to Stop Hypertension (DASH ), Mediterranean diet-DASH Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay
(MIND). All of them are credited with a neuroprotective effect that is attributed to the
antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effect of its components.
CONCLUSIONS: Different scoring methods for dietary patterns, dietary survey method,
study area, follow-up time, and sample size may be the main sources of heterogeneity. MED
and DASH were associated with a reduced risk of MCI. Higher adherence to MD, DASH, and
MIND was associated with a lower risk of cognitive impairment. The neuroprotective effect of
the MD, DASH, and MIND diets is attributed to their direct antioxidant, anti-inflammatory,
and neuroprotective effect. Neuroprotective diets could be a non-pharmacological therapeutic tool in MCIINTRODUCIÓN: O deterioro cognitivo leve (MCI) representa un deterioro cognitivo que constitúe un factor de risco para a demencia. A pesar dos avances farmacolóxicos, non hai

Considérase que os mecanismos inflamatorios e o estrés oxidativo implicados na etioloxía do
deterioro cognitivo e da demencia indican un papel potencial da nutrición na súa prevención.
OBXECTIVOS: Xerais Analizar a relación entre nutrición e DCL. Específicos 1) Identificar os tipos de dieta que prevén o MCI. 2) Coñecer o grao de adhesión á dieta dos pacientes. 3) Coñecer os compoñentes da dieta con potencial efecto neuroprotector.

Nanoengineered delivery of RNA: impact on brain diseases and COVID-19 vaccination
Genetic therapies show great potential for treating various diseases through modulation of the expression of specific genes. Their effective delivery is crucial, particularly for challenging conditions like CNS diseases and SARS-CoV-2 vaccines. Here, we used nanotechnology as a fundamental tool for RNA delivery. First, we engineered an ionizable nanoemulsion designed for brain diffusion and delivery of RNA. Second, we explored nanocarriers loaded with siRNA for brain delivery, exploring their performance following alternative administration routes. Finally, we encapsulated mRNAs derived from SARS-CoV-2 within nanoemulsions and polymeric nanocapsules, achieving significant cellular immune responses.2024-12-2

El trinitario fray Hortensio Félix Paravicino cita a Séneca con mucha frecuencia en sus sermones. El objetivo de este capítulo es determinar de qué manera, cuándo y con qué funciones menciona al filósofo estoico. Primero se explica la presencia de Séneca en el siglo XVII español. También se expone cómo los predicadores de esta época preparaban sus sermones y el papel fundamental que en ellos cumplían las citas. El núcleo del trabajo se centra en Paravicino y su interés por Séneca, patente en su tratado "Constancia cristiana", todavía inédito, y por supuesto en sus sermones.9999-01-0
Application of quantile regression models for biomedical data
A new lack-of-fit test for censored quantile regression models with multiple or even high-dimensional covariates will be presented. The test is based on the cumulative sum of residuals with respect to unidimensional linear projections of the covariates. The test is then adapting the ideas presented in [1], to cope with high-dimensional covariates, to the test proposed by [2]. The limit distribution of the empirical process associated with the test statistic will be shown. Furthermore, in order to approximate the critical values of the test, a bootstrap mechanism is used, which is similar to the proposal developed in [3]. In addition, an extensive simulation study and an interesting real data application will be presented in order to show the behaviour of the new test in practic
The Definition, Presentation and Automatic Generation of Contextual Data in Lexicography
This paper deals with several aspects of context in lexicography. Section 1 briefly mentions some different approaches to the concept context in various fields. Section 2 puts the focus on different uses and perceptions of the concept context in lexicography, contrasting it with related concepts, such as cotext, contextualization and contextual information. A more comprehensive discussion also covers different aspects of the occurrence of the concept context in dictionary research, with specific reference to central aspects of the so-called inner and outer context. Various portals, dictionaries and dictionary entries will illustrate the
above-mentioned approaches. Section 3 approaches the subject from a user perspective. Section 4 addresses the question How can contextual data be extracted or generated? To answer this question, some methods and tools for (automatic) acquisition and analysis of contextual data, – in particular of the local contextual data in terms of Faber and León-Araúz (2016) – are introduced. Examples of these are lexical databases or semantic networks, like WordNet, and corpora, like Sketch Engine, or predictive methods, like Word2vec and similar ones. Some advantages and disadvantages of specific data acquisition tools used for the analysis of local contextual data are indicated. A avaliación do tracto reprodutor no gando vacún experimentou
un grande avance ao longo dos anos, especialmente coa chegada
da ecografía. Esta técnica atópase nun desenvolvemento continuo
para sacar o máximo rendemento dos diferentes modos de
exame. Así, tanto a ecografía en modo B como en modo
Doppler, son útiles para realizar diferentes prácticas referidas á
avaliación do corpo lúteo e dos folículos, con aplicacións directas
en canto á selección de receptoras, diagnósticos de xestación e
estimacións do momento da ovulación. Consecuentemente, é
indispensable continuar o estudo de ambas técnicas para acadar o
máximo beneficio e lograr a combinación con aproximacións
novidosas, como a intelixencia artificial, e deste modo obter
información obxectiva, fiable e inmediata para unha toma de
decisións óptima
Cysteamine Eye Drops in Hyaluronic Acid Packaged in Innovative Single-Dose Systems, Part II: Long-Term Stability and Clinical Ocular Biopermanence
Background: Cystinosis is a rare genetic disorder characterized by the accumulation of cystine crystals in several tissues and organs causing, among others, severe eye symptoms. The high instability of cysteamine eye drops makes it difficult to develop formulations with an acceptable shelf life to be prepared in hospital pharmacy departments. Previously, a new compounded formulation of cysteamine eye drops in hyaluronic acid (HA) packaged in innovative single-dose systems was developed.
Methods: Long-term stability at -20 °C of this formulation was studied considering the content of cysteamine, pH, osmolality, viscosity, and microbiological analysis. The oxygen permeability of single-dose containers was also studied and an ocular biopermanence study was conducted in healthy volunteers measuring lacrimal stability and volume parameters.
Results: Data confirm that cysteamine concentration remained above 90% for 120 days, all parameters remaining within the accepted range for ophthalmic formulations. The permeability of the containers was reduced over time, while ocular biopermanence was maintained despite the freezing process and storage time.
Conclusions: 0.55% cysteamine hydrochloride formulation in HA and packaged in single-dose containers preserved at -20 °C is stable for 120 days protected from light, presenting high potential for its translation into clinical practice when commercial presentations are not availableFEFH 18-19/Fundación Española de Farmacia Hospitalaria

Talleres on-line para fomentar las vocaciones CTIM femeninas
En este capítulo realizamos una revisión de las actividades realizadas
alrededor del Día Internacional de las Mujeres y las Niñas en la Ciencia, 11 de
febrero, para incentivar las vocaciones femeninas en el ámbito CTIM (Ciencia,
Tecnología, Ingeniería y Matemáticas). En particular, nos centramos en las
iniciativas recopilados por la Unidad de Mujer y Ciencia y analizamos las
actividades dirigidas al ámbito de la educación primaria porque según algunos
estudios es en esta etapa y primeros cursos de ESO donde se empiezan a fraguar
las vocaciones científicas
