El objeto del estudio doctoral está en correspondencia con la
profundización en el tema del imaginario de Salvador Dalí a
través de su propia persona analizando las diversas series de
dibujos y grabados que realizó para ilustrar el poema
italiano de Dante Alighieri, La Divina Comedia y el cuento
infantil Alicia en el País de las Maravillas, autoría de Lewis
Carroll.
Se trata en síntesis de evaluar para estos casos concretos, la
relación intrínseca que existe como hipótesis entre el pintor
de Cadaqués y los personajes a los que les dio vida a través de
su arte. Porque, ¿introdujo elementos iconográficos
propios de su obra en estas series de grabados?, ¿hasta qué
punto se puede considerar que hubo un proceso de
identificación entre los personajes o sus creadores y Salvador

A reliable data-based smoothing parameter selection method for circular kernel estimation
new data-based smoothing parameter for circular kernel density (and its derivatives) estimation is proposed. Following the plug-in ideas, unknown quantities on an optimal smoothing parameter are replaced by suitable estimates. This paper provides a circular version of the well-known Sheather and Jones bandwidths (J R Stat Soc Ser B Stat Methodol 53(3):683–690, 1991. https://doi.org/10.1111/j.2517-6161.1991.tb01857.x), with direct and solve-the-equation plug-in rules. Theoretical support for our developments, related to the asymptotic mean squared error of the estimator of the density, its derivatives, and its functionals, for circular data, are provided. The proposed selectors are compared with previous data-based smoothing parameters for circular kernel density estimation. This paper also contributes to the study of the optimal kernel for circular data. Análisis de la valoración médico-legal en la lesión medular traumática
La lesión medular traumática derivada de los accidentes de
circulación, ocasiona secuelas que
resultan en una fuente de discapacidad de grado variable. Estas
secuelas requieren una correcta
valoración tanto desde el punto de vista asistencial como desde
el punto de vista médico-legal.
Este trabajo pretende definir el momento de estabilización
clínica y médico-legal, que posibilite
una valoración funcional acorde a la legislación vigente. Se
analiza también el distanciamiento
entre la escala de valoración clínica de la American Spine
Injury Association y el Baremo de la
Ley 35/2015. Los resultados muestras que la clasificación
clínica tiene gran valor pronóstico
funcional y vital, además de posibilitar, en función de su
gradación, el momento más adecuado
para esta valoración
Simultaneous Multifrequency Demodulation for Single-Shot Multiple-Path ToF Imaging
Indirect Time-of-Flight (iToF) sensors measure the received signal's phase shift or time delay to calculate depth. In realistic conditions, however, recovering depth is challenging as reflections from secondary scattering areas or translucent objects may interfere with the direct reflection, resulting in inaccurate 3D estimates. We propose a new measurement concept including a single-shot on-chip multifrequency demodulation method with periodically-repeated ultrashort-pulsed illumination using a novel pixel array architecture to address a main limitation of conventional iToF, the Multi-Path Interference (MPI). Due to the careful hardware/software codesign, the proposed single-shot architecture provides close-to-optimal Fourier measurements to a spectral estimation algorithm that retrieves the unknown parameters of the interfering return paths in a closed form. Electrical simulations of the on-chip multifrequency demodulation circuit demonstrate the feasibility of distance retrieval in double and triple bounce conditions in a single shot with high accuracy. Furthermore, we propose a set of methods for processing the resulting sensor measurements that exploit valuable a priori information and structural constraints of the data and observe that they yield a substantial increase in accuracyS
Iridium-Catalyzed Tandem Dehydrogenation/Hydroarylation Approach to Synthetically Versatile C2-Alkenyl N–H Indoles

To access the final edited and published work see https://doi.org/10.1021/acscatal.3c05841.Readily available N-carbamoyl indolines can be converted into highly valuable 2-alkenyl and 2-alkyl indoles in a one-pot reaction, through an autotandem catalytic cascade promoted by an iridium complex. The process entails a dehydrogenation reaction initiated by an iridium-promoted C(sp3)–H activation, the addition of the resulting indole to an alkyne -or alkene-partner, and a spontaneous loss of the carbamoyl directing group. The key role of risk perception in preparedness for oil pipeline accidents in urban areas: A sequential mediation analysis
Effective disaster risk reduction requires conducting research within communities that gave recognized natural or technological risks, to foster the development of more resilient societies. However, limited information is available regarding risk perception and preparedness for technological hazards in disaster-prone urban areas of South America. The aim of this study is to investigate the factors that influence public risk perception regarding the Trans-Ecuadorian Oil Pipeline System and its relationship with household preparedness for a potential accident in the Metropolitan District of Quito (Ecuador). We assess the link among knowledge, trust in authorities, risk perception, intention to prepare, and preparedness. Results from a sequential mediation analysis reveal that risk perception partially and positively mediates the relationship between knowledge and preparedness and acts as a negative full mediator between the latter and trust. These findings provide valuable information for future risk governance and communication strategies, aimed at enhancing risk perception and improving individual preparedness of individuals, as well as risk mitigation proceduresS
Analysis of ChatGPT Performance in Computer Engineering Exams
The appearance of ChatGPT at the end of 2022 was a milestone in the field of Generative Artificial Intelligence. How- ever, it also caused a shock in the academic world. For the first time, a simple interface allowed anyone to access a large language model and use it to generate text. These capabilities have a relevant impact on teaching-learning methodologies and assessment methods. This work aims to obtain an objective measure of ChatGPT’s possible performance in solving exams related to computer engineering. For this purpose, it has been tested with actual exams of 15 subjects of the Software Engineering branch of a Spanish university. All the questions of these exams have been extracted and adapted to a text format to obtain an answer. Furthermore, the exams have been rewritten to be corrected by the teaching staff. In light of the results, ChatGPT can achieve relevant performance in these exams; it can pass many questions and problems of different natures in multiple subjects. A detailed study of the results by typology of questions and problems is provided as a fundamental contribution, allowing recommendations to be considered in the design of assessment methods. Contrasting immediate impact of prescribed fires and experimental summer fires on soil organic matter quality and microbial properties in the forest floor and mineral soil in Mediterranean black pine forest
Prescribed fire (PB) is used to achieve ecological objectives and to reduce fuel hazard thus limiting detrimental impacts of wildfire and appropriate selection of prescription window is critical for these goals. Operational use of PB in the Mediterranean forest is scarce and information about its effects on soil remains incomplete. This study for the first time i) compared the immediate impact of spring and autumn PB and experimental summer fire on key properties of forest floor and mineral topsoil in Mediterranean black pine forest, and ii) assessed the capacity of PB to reduce fuel, with limited immediate impacts on soil. PB significantly reduced the 32.5 % of pre-fire forest floor depth, while summer fire consumed 88.5 % and exposed about 30 % of the mineral soil surface. Mean maximum temperature during fire at the mineral soil surface was 23 °C in PB, in contrast to 128 °C in summer fire, while soil heating at 2 cm depth was negligible in both cases. PB did not cause immediate changes in OM quality parameters, and chemical (C and N concentrations, C/N and pH) and microbiological properties (Cmic, Cmic/C, and β-glucosidase, acid phosphatase and alkaline phosphatase activities) in forest floor or mineral topsoil (0–2 cm). By contrast, summer fire greatly increased OM recalcitrance and reduced Cmic, Cmic/C and enzyme activities in forest floor immediately after fire. In the mineral topsoil, only microbial properties were significantly reduced. The maximum temperature reached during fire in forest floor and topsoil was associated with most of the overall changes in properties in both layers. The findings suggest that prescribed fire can significantly reduce fuel with limited initial impacts on soil.
