Community Activities in Primary Care: A Literature Review
Community health promotion activities are a useful tool for a proactive approach to healthy lifestyles. However, the implementation of these types of activities at health centers is not standardized. The aim of this review was to analyse the characteristics of community activities undertaken in the primary care setting and substantiate available evidence on their health impact. We conducted a bibliographic review until November 15th, 2023 in the TRIPDATABASE, MEDLINE, EMBASE, and DIALNET databases. We included original papers on interventions, community activities, and actions and/or social prescriptions which had been implemented in a Primary Care setting, included a group approach in at least one session, and described some type of evaluation of the intervention applied. Studies targeted at professionals and those without involvement of the primary care team were excluded. The search identified 1912 potential studies. We included a total of 30 studies, comprising 11 randomized clinical trials, 14 quasi-experimental studies, 1 cohort study, and 4 qualitative studies. The issues most frequently addressed in community activities were healthy habits, physical activity, cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. Community activities can improve the physical and psychological environment of their participants, as well as their level of knowledge about the issues addressed. That said, however, implementation of these types of interventions is not uniform. The existence of a professional community-activity liaison officer at health centers, who would help integrate the health system with the community sector, could serve to standardize implementation and maximize the health impact of these types of interventionsS
Translation, Migration and Gender: Some Ecocritical and Ecofeminist Considerations
Grant for the research project “Post-Human Intersections in Irish and Galician Literatures” (PID2022-136251NB-I00) funded by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 and by “ERDF A way of making Europe”.This chapter examines the translation principles that sustain the anthology Migrant Shores. Irish, Moroccan & Galician Poetry (Palacios 2017) with the aim to explore their ecofeminist relevance. The focus of this anthology on women’s migrations and its collaborative purpose, by which Irish writers translate poetry from minoritized languages within Europe into English, will be the starting point for a discussion of the implications for translation studies of current debates on self and Other and the encounter with difference in the fields of anthropology, post-colonial studies, ecocriticism and ecostylistics. Among the aspects to be considered are the following: heterarchical relations, the critique of dualistic dynamics, the ecology of attention, the interconnectedness of ecological and cultural diversity, and the risks of anthropocentric and ethnocentric narcissism. Furthermore, the ecofeminist import is assessed by attending to the critique of the androcentric disregard for the experience of women’s migration, the visibilization of women writers, and by delving into the literary tropes that entwine gender and nature. This study has been carried out under the auspices of the research project “Posthuman Intersections in Irish and Galician Literatures”, funded by the Spanish Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovacion and ERDF, ref. Agreement on Anterior Chamber Depth Measurement between Three Commercially Available Devices
The present study aimed to assess the agreement of three commercially available devices on the measurement of anterior chamber depth (ACD) with and without compensation by central corneal thickness measurement (CCT). Fifty eyes were included in an observational cross-sectional study. Participants underwent a single visit during which devices were used to obtain the inclusion/exclusion (ARK510A, Canon TX-10) and studied (VX-120, Lenstar LS900 and EchoScan US-800) parameters. Based on invasiveness, tests were always performed in the same order by one researcher (to avoid inter-observer variability) and only in the right eye (to avoid overstating the precision of estimates) in each participant. The keratometry, autorefraction, intraocular pressure and anterior chamber angle values were used as inclusion criteria, while the CCT and ACD values were used in the agreement analysis between devices. There was a general and a paired difference in ACD measurements between devices (Greenhouse–Geisser: p ≤ 0.001; Sidak: all p ≤ 0.001). No significant difference was found in ACD measurements compensated by CCT values between the devices (Greenhouse–Geisser: p = 0.200). Pairwise analysis showed a significant difference in VX-120 vs. Lenstar (Sidak: p = 0.021). The differences in ACD measurements compensated by CCT values between the devices were clinically acceptable. Consequently, using these instruments interchangeably in daily routines based on this correction is justified.S
Amministrare gli agroecosistemi. La rigenerazione rurale per il contrasto dello spopolamento nella prospettiva dell'intervento pubblico
Il lavoro affronta lo studio dell’intervento pubblico in
agricoltura come ambito materiale particolarmente rilevante
per il contrasto dello spopolamento rurale. In primo luogo,
destinate all’agricoltura, nonché le terre seminaturali coperte

Development of Gene-Activated Matrices as tools in new regenerative therapies
The main goal of this thesis has been the development,
optimization, and testing of three-dimensional mRNA-activated
matrices as a system for the administration of transcription
factors for articular cartilage regeneration. Modifications in the
mRNA synthesis provided higher stability and efficacy as
compared to standard mRNA. TAMs chondrogenic effects were
tested in 3D cultures activated with SOX9, TGF-β3 or
combinations of both. The transcript combination provided the
best
effects as it combined the strong chondrogenic effect of TGF-β3
with the capacity of SOX9 to promote chondroblast
differentiation while inhibiting fibrotic tissue formation. The
two best TAM prototypes were studied in a cartilage defect
rabbit model where showed no signs of toxicity and promoted
the expression of specific tissue markers
Development and evaluation of a new website on oral health and Down syndrome
Aims: The objective of this study was to develop a new website in Spanish on oral health and dental care for use by the relatives/caregivers of individuals with Down syndrome, with the aim of incorporating the strengths and avoids the deficiencies of existing websites. Methods: A freely accessible website was developed with dental content, whose access criteria included the age of the individual undergoing the consultation and the area of interest (tongue or teeth disease, oral functionality, oral hygiene, and dental visits). The definitive version of the website was analyzed by five external examiners, applying the DISCERN criteria and the Questionnaire to Evaluate Health Web Sites According to European Criteria (QEEC). The website's traffic during the first year of activity was recorded. Results: The new website is known as “DentiDown”, and its access domain is https://odontoloxia accessible.org/dentidown/. On the home screen, the age group of interest to the user can be accessed. A dropdown menu then opens, listing the various options according to the area of interest. The oral hygiene section provides advice for improving toothbrushing efficacy through demonstration videos. With the DISCERN tool, an overall score of 4.75 ± 0.5 was achieved. With the QEEC, the external examiners’ general opinion was highly favorable. The website received the seal of quality from the Accredited Medical Web (AMW). During the first year of activity, a total of 4536 visits from a total of 45 countries were recorded. Conclusion: A new Spanish website has been developed on oral health for use by the relatives/caregivers of individuals with Down syndrome. The website has been favorably evaluated by external experts and, to date, is the only one with these characteristics with the AMW seal of qualityS
High-energy fission and the onset of quasi-fission
This thesis delves into nuclear fission, a complex process discovered in
1939, exploring extreme deformations, nuclear structure effects, and
heat flows influencing fragment distributions.
The study focuses on fusion-induced fission in 265Db and 249Bk fissioning
systems generated with high excitation energies employing inverse
kinematics with the VAMOS++ spectrometer. Asymmetric fission
channels are observed, providing insights into nuclear charge, mass,
neutron excess, and neutron evaporation.
In the case of 265Db, an overproduction of heavy fragments attributed to
quasi-fission is observed. For 249Bk, the characterization of the scission
point is studied through crucial indirect observables for understanding
nuclear structure effects, such as the total kinetic energy averaged
before neutron evaporation
