Titanium dioxide-multiwalled carbon nanotube/polyimide composite film modified electrodes for simultaneous voltammetric detection of ascorbic acid, uric acid and dopamine as biomarker molecules
Titanium dioxide-multiwalled carbon nanotube/polyimide (TiO2-MWCNT/PI) composite film modified electrodes for simultaneous detection of dopamine (DA), uric acid (UA), and ascorbic acid (AA) in clinical or biomedical applications were prepared. Firstly, TiO2-MWCNT and polyimide structures were synthesized. Then, TiO2-MWCNT/PI composites containing different ratios of MWCNT were subsequently prepared and characterized with chemical, thermal and morphological analysis techniques. Synthesized TiO2-MWCNT/PI composites were coated on the platinum electrode surface. Prepared electrodes were used to sense DA, UA, and AA with voltammetric measurements. LOD and LOQ parameters of modified electrodes for DA were observed 8.5114 mu M and 25.5342 mu M, respectively. The R-2 value for the DA in the linear range from 175 to 325 mu M was obtained 0.9967 (in the existence of AA and UA). After five repeatability results, 96.3% AA, 98.2% DA, and 88.3% UA peak currents were maintained. The modified electrode exhibited good selectivity, acceptable durability, high repeatability, and sensitivity

Mathematical analysis of local and global dynamics of a new epidemic model
In this paper, we construct a new SEIR epidemic model reflecting the spread of infectious diseases. After calculating basic reproduction number R-0 by the next generation matrix method, we examine the stability of the model. The model exhibits threshold behavior according to whether the basic reproduction number R-0 is greater than unity or not. By using well-known Routh-Hurwitz criteria, we deal with local asymptotic stability of equilibrium points of the model according to R-0. Also, we present a mathematical analysis for the global dynamics in the equilibrium points of this model using LaSalle's Invariance Principle associated with Lyapunov functional technique and Li-Muldowney geometric approach, respectively
Notas sobre psicoterapia de grupo operativa y clínica institucional en el hospital de día de salud mental
The group device is a therapeutic and research instrument for the group operative conception. This work aims to be an open and reflective account from our experience in the care and institutional context of the Mental Health Day Hospital in which we work. We start from a conception of "subject" produced in a link network, being the first group the family group. Therefore, subjectivity, object of study, is determined historically, familiarly, and socially. Group psychotherapy, therapeutic coexistence, interdisciplinary teamwork and subjectivity are the starting points for the development of a group and institutional clinical practice in mental health assistance devices in the public sphere.
Antimicrobial Edible Cellulose-Based (CB) Films and Coatings for Enhancing Microbial Safety of White Cheese During Storage
In this research, the antioxidant and antibacterial characteristics of edible cellulose-based film (CBEF) coating incorporated with (3-carotene, Hesperedin and Propolis on the quality of the white cheese at 4 degrees C were investigated. Samples evaluated were: Control, CBE films with 8 different contents containing natural or non-natural antimicrobial agents for 15 days at 5 day intervals. The antimicrobial effects of edible cellulosic films prepared with antimicrobial agents against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, which are important food pathogens, were directly evaluated with artificially contaminated food samples under cold storage conditions. Fresh white cheese samples, which are one of the semi-hard traditional Turkish cheeses, were used for artificial contamination. The antimicrobial activity of the tested antimicrobial substances was measured by the paper disc method. The DPPH free radical scavenging activities, the total phenolic content, and the characteristics (FT-IR, DSC and TGA) of the CBEFs were investigated. All of the samples significantly reduced E. coli, S. aureus and total viable counts, as compared with control during the storage time. Specifically, it was determined that hesperidin sprayed films showed an antimicrobial effect on E.coli growth and carotene sprayed films showed an antimicrobial effect on S. aureus growth. Growth of both bacterial species was highly inhibited (>50%) in the presence of 20% propolis. It was concluded that (3 -carotene, hesperidin and propolis can be substituted as natural preservatives in white cheese. With this advanced packaging technology, food safety can be ensured, the shelf life of the product can be extended and food losses in this sector can be reduced.Inonu University Scientific Research Projects Management Unit [FYL-2017-841]The authors thank Dr. Abbas Gungordu for assistance in statistical analyses. A rare manifestation of giant cell arteritis: Bilateral scalp necrosis
This study investigated the anxiety and depression levels in hospitalized healthy pregnants and pregnants with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) before the cesarean section. This case control study included 64 healthy pregnant (control) and 26 pregnants with GDM (case). Patients were assessed with the form of a socio-demographic and clinical characteristic and Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale (HADS). The mean age was 35.5±5.1 years in the case group and 29.4±4.3 in the control group. There was a significant difference between pregnant women with GDM and healthy pregnant in terms of total anxiety, total depression, psychomotor agitation, restlessness, laughing and seeing funny things, and being cheerful. 21% of the pregnant with GDM and 15% of the healthy pregnant had anxiety. Also, 34% of the pregnant with GDM and 23% of the controls had depression. Anxiety and depressive symptoms should be considered for hospitalized pregnant women with GDM before the cesarean section
Azoles containing naphthalene with activity against Gram-positive bacteria: in vitro studies and in silico predictions for flavohemoglobin inhibition
Azoles are first-line drugs used in fungal infections. Topical antifungals, such as miconazole and econazole, are known to be active against Gram-positive bacteria, which was reported to result from bacterial flavohemoglobin (flavoHb) inhibition. Dual antibacterial/antifungal action is believed to have benefits for antimicrobial chemotherapy. In this study, we tested antibacterial effects of an in-house library of naphthalene-bearing azoles, some of which were reported as potent antifungals, in an attempt to find dual-acting hits. Several potent derivatives were obtained against the Gram-positive bacteria, Enterococcus faecalis and Staphylococcus aureus. 9 was active at a minimum inhibitor concentration (MIC) less than 1 mg/ml against E. faecalis and S. aureus, and 10 against S. aureus. 16 was also potent against E. faecalis and S. aureus (MIC = 1 and 2 mg/ml, respectively). Six more were active against S. aureus with MIC <= 4 mg/ml. In vitro cytotoxicity studies showed that the active compounds were safe for healthy cells within their MIC ranges. According to the calculated descriptors, the library was found within the drug-like chemical space and free of pan-assay interference compounds (PAINS). Molecular docking studies suggested that the compounds might be bacterial flavohemoglobin (flavoHb) inhibitors and the azole and naphthalene rings were important pharmacophores, which was further supported by pharmacophore modeling study. As a result, the current study presents several non-toxic azole derivatives with antibacterial effects. In addition to their previously reported antifungal properties, they could set a promising starting point for the future design of dual acting antimicrobials.Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) [114S862]This work was supported by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) under Grant 114S862
Post-disaster gathering areas in Malatya city center examination of the current situation
Tarihsel süreç içerisinde insanlar, doğal ve doğal olmayan birçok afetle karşı karşıya kalmıştır. Ülkemizde tarih boyunca doğal afetler büyük can ve mal kayıplarına sebep olmuştur. Throughout history, people have faced many natural and unnatural disasters. Natural disasters have caused great loss of life and property throughout the history of our country. Natural disasters frequently seen in our country are earthquakes, floods, avalanches and landslides. 90% of the country's population lives under the threat of disaster. From this point of view, the city of Malatya, which has experienced natural disasters such as many earthquakes and floods in the past years, has been determined as the study area. Malatya city is located on the East Anatolian fault line. Finally, the Elazig earthquake (6.8 M), which took place in January 2020, also caused loss of life and property in the city of Malatya. The area where the study will be conducted is the urban core area of 25 km². The examinations were carried out by considering the criteria of distance and accessibility, main road connections, multifunctionality, public lands and capacity. Within the boundaries of Malatya urban core, there are 10 post-disaster assembly areas determined by Malatya Municipality and AFAD. 6 of these areas are in Battalgazi district and 4 of them are within the borders of Yeşilyurt district. For the size and capacity calculations, the criterion of 2.5 m² per person in the Izmir Provincial Disaster Response Plan, which was approved by the Izmir Governorship Provincial Disaster and Emergency Directorate with the Governor's Approval dated 28.10.2019 and numbered 159216, was used. Necessary drawings were made using Malatya Reconstruction Map base for main road connections and distance and accessibility criteria, and then DepthMap program was used to make calculations on the drawings. According to the data obtained, 26.64% (134,003 people) of the population of the urban core area can use the assembly areas in disaster situations, while 73.36% (368,854 people) of the population will not be able to use the assembly areas in disaster situations
A new approach for Pap-Smear image generation with generative adversarial networks
Purpose: In this study, a new GAN model for histopathological Pap-Smear images generation is suggested. To illustrate the advantage of the proposed GAN model (Pix2PixSSIM), a comprehensive experimental study has been carried out. Theory and Methods: Pix2PixSSIM designed as generative adversarial networks model for histopathological Pap-Smear images generation. In addition, the proposed model compared with the existing GANs (i.e., Pix2Pix, CycleGAN, DiscoGAN and AttentionGAN). Results: In experimental studies, Pix2PixSSIM, which is designed as generative adversarial networks model for histopathological Pap-Smear images generation, has shown high accuracy than other methods. Conclusion: It is seen that the performance of the proposed GAN architecture to produce patterns similar to real Pap-Smear visuals gives successful results (MSI=23.649, PSNR=37.476) when compared to existing approaches (MathModel and classical image synthesis methods)
