    Palynological, chemical, antimicrobial, and enzyme inhibition properties of Cannabis sativa L. propolis

    In this study, both chemical characterization and biological activities of propolis samples obtained from Cannabis sativa L. (cannabis, hemp, marijuana) isolated colonies (research group) and obtained from colonies at a distance where the bee cannot fly to the isolation area (control group) were determined. Palynological analyses of propolis samples obtained from the research and control group colonies were made and the botanical origin of the cannabis plant and other plants in the research area and the plants in the control group were determined. Bioactive component analysis of propolis extracts was determined by the GC-MS technique. The inhibition effect of propolis samples on some enzymes of medical importance and their antimicrobial effects against many pathogenic microorganisms were also investigated. Palynological analyses showed that honey bees prefer cannabis plants (11.11%) when collecting propolis, and the dry matter percentage (94.6 +/- 1.8%), balsam (46.2 +/- 5.2%), and wax content (4.8 +/- 0.5%), total phenolic (26.44 +/- 1.08 mg GAE/mL) and total flavonoid (2.03 +/- 0.11 mg QE/mL) content and antioxidant capacity (88.16 +/- 2.27 mu M FeSO4 center dot 7H(2)O/mL(-1)) of the research group propolis samples containing hemp were found to be higher than the control group. Also, it was determined that the research group propolis sample contains cannabinoid derivatives (cannabidivarinic acid, 0.29%; delta (1)-tetrahydrocannabinolic acid, 0.59%; cannabidiolic acid, 0.48%), which are active compounds of the cannabis plant. Also, a high inhibition effect was detected on some enzymes of medical importance in propolis samples obtained from cannabis group colonies.     The Cytotoxicity, DNA Fragmentation, and Decreasing Velocity Induced By Chromium(III) Oxide on Rainbow Trout Spermatozoa

    The present study aimed to determine the cytotoxicity of chromium(III) oxide micro particles (Cr2O3-Ps) in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) spermatozoa. Firstly, Cr2O3-Ps were synthesized and structurally characterized the surface, morphological for particle size and thermal properties. In addition, its structural and elemental purity was determined using energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectrum and elemental maps. Structural purity, thermal properties, and stability of Cr2O3 -Ps were also examined in detail by performing thermal analysis techniques. The cytotoxicity of Cr2O3-Ps was measured by the observation of velocities, antioxidant activities, and DNA damages in rainbow trout spermatozoa after exposure during 3 h in vitro incubation. The straight line velocity (VSL), the curvilinear velocity (VCL), and the angular path velocity (VAP) of spermatozoa decreased after exposure to Cr2O3-Ps. While the superoxide dismutase (SOD) and the catalase (CAT) decreased, the lipid peroxidation increased in a dose-dependent manner. However, the total glutathione (tGSH) was not affected in this period. DNA damages were also determined in spermatozoa using Comet assay. According to DNA in tail (%) data, DNA damages have been detected with gradually increasing concentrations of Cr2O3-Ps. Furthermore, all of class types which are categorized as the intensity of DNA fragmentation has been observed between 50 and 500 mu g/L concentrations of Cr2O3-Ps exposed to rainbow trout spermatozoa. At the end of this study, we determined that the effective concentrations (EC50) were 76.67 mu g/L for VSL and 87.77 mu g/L for VCL.     In this study, the title compound was synthesized, and its structure was illuminated by X-ray diffraction, H-1 and C-13 NMR spectroscopy methods. X-ray study shows that the crystal structure is stabilized by intermolecular C-H & ctdot;Cl hydrogen bonds. Quantum mechanical approach was carried out to study the molecular structure, NMR spectra and stability of the compound by using Density Functional Theory (DFT) with HSEH1PBE functional and LanL2DZ basis set. Hirshfeld surface analysis was used as theoretical approach to assess driving force for crystal structure formation via the intermolecular interactions in the crystal lattice.     Discernment of Static Eccentricity and Electrical Load Unbalance Currents through Space Vector Stray Flux in Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator based Wind Turbines

However, the electrical and mechanical asymmetries such as eccentricity and electrical load unbalanced currents can affect the dynamic operation condition in PMSGs. This paper proposes to detect and discriminate electrical load unbalance current faults and static eccentricity through space vector stray flux in surface mounted PMSGs based wind turbines. The 2D-finite element results shows that it is not possible to discern the static eccentricity and load unbalance current fault since both faults exhibits same pattern in current and stray flux spectra in PMSGs. The harmonic at +5fs in positive sequence stray flux can be used to discriminate static eccentricity and electrical load unbalance faults in PMSGs.     An observational, multicenter, registry-based cohort study of Turkish Neonatal Society in neonates with Hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy

    Background Hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) is a significant cause of mortality and short- and long-term morbidities. Therapeutic hypothermia (TH) has been shown to be the standard care for HIE of infants >= 36 weeks gestational age (GA), as it has been demonstrated to reduce the rates of mortality, and adverse neurodevelopmental outcomes. This study aims to determine the incidence of HIE in our country, to assess the TH management in infants with HIE, and present short-term outcomes of these infants. Methods The Turkish Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy Online Registry database was established for this multicenter, prospective, observational, nationally-based cohort study to evaluate the data of infants born at >= 34 weeks GA who displayed evidence of neonatal encephalopathy (NE) between March, 2020 and April 2022. Results The incidence of HIE among infants born at >= 36 weeks GA (n = 965) was 2.13 per 1000 live births (517:242440), and accounting for 1.55% (965:62062) of all neonatal intensive care unit admissions. The rates of mild, moderate and severe HIE were 25.5% (n = 246), 58.9% (n = 568), and 15.6% (n = 151), respectively. Infants with severe HIE had higher rates of abnormal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings, and mortality (p6 h) (p>0.05). TH was administered to 85 (34.5%) infants with mild HIE, and of those born of 34-35 weeks of GA, 67.4% (n = 31) received TH. A total of 58 (6%) deaths were reported with a higher mortality rate in infants born at 34-35 weeks of GA (OR 3.941, 95% Cl 1.446-10.7422, p = 0.007). Conclusion The incidence of HIE remained similar over time with a reduction in mortality rate. The timing of TH initiation, whether <3 or 3-6 h, did not result in lower occurrences of brain lesions on MRI or mortality. An increasing number of infants with mild HIE and late preterm infants with HIE are receiving TH; however, the indications for TH require further clarification. Longer follow-up studies are necessary for this vulnerable population

    Fosil yakıtların kullanılması sonucu doğaya salınan CO2, çevresel sorunlara neden olan en önemli sera gazlarından birisidir. Dolayısıyla CO2 emisyonlarının zaman içinde nasıl değiştiğinin araştırılması ve CO2 emisyonu üzerinde etkili olan faktörlerin belirlenmesi oldukça önemlidir. Bu çalışmada Yapay Sinir Ağları (YSA) metodu kullanılarak CO2 emisyonu tahmini gerçekleştirilmiş ve çalışmada ele alınan bağımsız değişkenlerin bağıl önemlerini değerlendirmek amacıyla Garson Algoritması kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen tahmin sonuçları, YSA modellerinin CO2 emisyonu tahmininde kullanılabilecek başarılı bir yöntem olduklarını göstermektedir. Yapılan önem analizi sonucunda Türkiye’de CO2 emisyonunu etkileyen en önemli faktörün yenilenebilir enerji tüketimi olduğu belirlenmiştir

    Evaluation of novel ventricular repolarization parameters in patients with acromegaly

    Objectives: T wave’s peak and end interval (Tp-e), Tp-e/QT ratio and Tp-e/QTc ratio are novel markers of ventricular repolarization and are associated with ventricular arrhythmias. Increased ventricular arrhythmia incidence is reported in patients with acromegaly. The purpose of this study is to evaluate ventricular repolarization using the Tp-e interval, Tp-e/QT ratio, and Tp-e/QTc ratio in patients with acromegaly. Methods: Thirty-five patients with acromegaly were included in the study. The control group was consisted of forty-one subjects without acromegaly that having similar age, sex ratio and comorbidities. The Tp-e interval, Tp-e/QT ratio, Tp-e/QTc ratio, and other ventricular repolarization parameters of all patients were evaluated using electrocardiography. Results: Tp-e interval, Tp-e/QT ratio and Tp-e/QTc ratio were significantly prolonged in patients with acromegaly compared to the control group. Furthermore, Tp-e interval, Tp-e/QT ratio, and Tp-e/QTc ratio showed a significant correlation with plasma GH levels and LVMI values. Conclusions: Our study revealed that Tp-e interval, Tp-e/QT ratio, and Tp-e/QTc ratio are prolonged in patients with acromegaly. We believe that the Tp-e interval, Tp-e/QT ratio, and Tpe/QTc ratio can be used in the evaluation of increased cardiovascular risk in patients with acromegaly

    Investigation of Arginine Deiminase Activity in Bacillus cereus and Ralstonia eutropha Under Minimal Conditions

    Prokaryotes form an important part of our lives. These microorganisms, which we can not see with the naked eye, are used in medicine, biotechnology, microbiology and many other fields. They can produce many anti-cancer enzymes (Arginine deiminase, Asparaginase, Methionine gamma lyase etc.). In this study, an important bacterial anti-tumor enzyme of B. cereus and R. eutropha in the presence of different minimal sources (Dextrose, Fructose, Glucose, Xylose, Maltose, Nutrient Broth, Rhamnose, Ribose, Sucrose) under static and shaking (150 rpm) conditions. Arginine deiminase activity was searched. In accordance with results of our study, these microorganisms showed the highest ADI activity in the disaccharide medium, maltose and sucrose, and in the aldose group, in the ribose medium. It has been shown that this enzyme, which is used in cancer treatment, can be produced more cheaply and easily in minimal environments

    A different approach to the quantification of human seminal plasma metabolites using high-resolution NMR spectroscopy

    In this study, a reliable method was established for the absolute quantification of metabolite concentrations in human seminal plasma using ERETIC2, a quantification tool developed by Bruker based on the PULCON principle. The performance of the ERETIC2 was examined using an AVANCE III HD NMR spectrometer (600 MHz) equipped with a triple inverse 1.7 mm TXI probe in terms of some experimental parameters that may affect the accuracy and precision of the quantitative results. Then, the accuracy, precision, and repeatibility of ERETIC2 were determined using L-asparagine solutions at different concentrations. And it was evaluated by comparing it with the classical internal standard (IS) quantification method. The relative standard deviation (RSD) values for ERETIC2 were calculated in the range of 0.55-1.90% and the minimum recovery value was 99.9%, while the RSD values for the IS method were calculated in the range of 0.88-5.83% and recovery value was minimum 91.0%. Besides, the RSD values of the inter-day precisions for the ERETIC2 and IS methods were obtained to be in the range of 1.25 - 3.03% and 0.97 - 3.46%, respectively. Finally, the concentration values of seminal plasma metabolites were determined using different pulse programs with both methods for samples obtained from normozoospermic control and azoospermic patient groups. The results proved that this quantification method developed using NMR spectroscopy is easy to use in complex sample systems such as biological fluids and is a good alternative to the classical internal standard method in terms of accuracy and sensitivity. In addition, the improvement of the spectral resolution and sensitivity with the microcoil probe technology and the possibility of analyzing with minimum sample quantities has contributed positively to the results of this method

    Blokzincir teknolojisi, bilgi teknolojileri alanında son on beş yılın en çok ses getiren konulardan biri olmuş, dünyanın farklı ülkelerindeki ve farklı sektörlerindeki kurum ve kuruluşlarda ilgi görmeye ve benimsenmeye başlamıştır. İlk başlarda sadece kripto para bağlamında ele alınan bu teknoloji, daha sonradan finans, sağlık, tedarik zinciri, sigorta ve nesnelerin interneti gibi alanlarda bireylerin yaşam tarzını etkilemeye başlamış ve aynı şekilde daha birçok alanı da dönüştürme potansiyeline sahip olduğunu göstermeye devam etmektedir. Blokzincir, en temel anlamıyla işlemlerin, kayıtların vb. verilerin tutulduğu şifreli bir yazılım teknolojisidir. Bu teknolojiyi dönüştürücü kılan ise kayıt defterinin "dağıtık" olmasıdır. Başka bir deyişle ağa bağlı olan bütün paydaşların, defterin tamamına veya bir kısmına aynı anda sahip olmasıdır. Bu yapının blokzincir olarak adlandırılmasının nedeni, defterde yapılan her güncellemenin bir önceki bloğa bir bilgi bloğu olarak eklenerek değiştirilemez ve denetlenebilir bir işlemler zinciri oluşturmasıdır. Defter, üzerinde mutabakat sağlanmadan değiştirilememektedir. Burada blokzincirin getirdiği asıl önemli yenilik ise, tüm bu işlemleri merkezi bir otoriteye ihtiyaç duymadan gerçekleştirmesi, böylelikle üçüncü taraflara olan ihtiyacı ortadan kaldırmasıdır. Kamu yönetimini değişime iten etkenlerin kabullenilmesine yol açan sebepler, geleneksel yönetim anlayışının eksikliklerinden kaynaklanmaktadır. Geleneksel kamu yönetimi anlayışı, istikrarlı dönemlerinde elde ettiği başarılarına rağmen, hızlı ve yaygın bir teknolojik değişimin yaşandığı günümüzde işlevselliğini kaybetmiştir. Bu yönetim anlayışının esneklikten yoksun olması, kamu yönetimlerinin değişen şartlara uyum sağlamada önemli sorunlar yaşamasına neden olmaktadır. Bunun yanında küreselleşme ile bilginin çok hızlı bir şekilde yayılması, farklı ülkelerdeki halkların diğer ülkelerdeki örnekler ile mukayese ederek kendi ülkelerindeki yönetimlerden daha hızlı, güvenilir ve kaliteli hizmet talebinde bulunmalarına sebep olmaktadır. Blokzincir, sunduğu dağıtık ve güven gerektirmeyen altyapısı, sistemin şeffaf ve izlenebilir olması, işlemlerin kesin ve mutabakat sağlanmadan değiştirilemezliği, maliyet tasarrufu ve verimlilik gibi üstün yönleri ile kamu yönetimine açıklık, etkililik, hesap verebilirlik, güvenilirlik ve katılımcılık bağlamında fayda sağlama potansiyeline sahiptir. Bu yönleriyle kimlik yönetimi, varlık kaydı ve tapu tescili, noter ve kayıtlandırma, elektronik oylama, akıllı kontratlar, sağlık hizmetleri ve gıda güvenliği gibi kamu yönetiminin farklı alanlarında kendine uygulama imkânı bulmaktadır. Bu araştırmada blokzincir teknolojisinin kamu yönetiminde uygulanabilirliği incelenmektedir. Öncelikle blokzincirin kavramsal çerçevesi sunulmuş, üstün ve zayıf yönlerine yer verilmiştir. Ardından blokzincir teknolojisi kamu yönetimi bağlamında ele alınarak kamu yönetimine sağlayacağı faydalar ve kamu yönetimindeki uygulama alanları ele alınmıştır. Müteakiben teknolojiyi daha iyi anlamak için, blokzincir altyapısı ile hayata geçirilmiş, dünyada ve Türkiye'deki uygulamalarından örnekler verilmiştir. Son olarak mevcut riskler ve engeller ele alınarak, blokzincir teknolojisinin kamu yönetiminde uygulanabilirliği konusunda değerlendirmelerde bulunulmuştur.Blockchain technology has been one of the most prominent topics in the field of information technologies in the last fifteen years, and it has started to attract attention and be adopted by companies in different countries and different sectors of the world. This technology, which was initially considered only in the context of cryptocurrency, later started to affect the lifestyle of individuals in areas such as finance, health, supply chain, insurance and the internet of things, and it continues to show that it has the potential to transform many more areas. Blockchain, in its most basic sense, is an encrypted software technology in which transactions, records, etc. are kept. What makes this technology transformative is that the ledger is "distributed". In other words, all stakeholders connected to the network have all or some part of the ledger at the same time. The reason why this structure is called a blockchain is that each update to the ledger is added to the previous block as an information block, creating an unalterable and auditable chain of transactions. The ledger cannot be changed without consensus of the nodes. The main innovation brought by the blockchain is that it performs all these transactions without the need for a central authority, thus eliminating the need for third parties. The reasons that lead to the acceptance of the factors that push the public administration to change are due to the deficiencies of the traditional management approach. Despite the success it has achieved in its stable periods, the traditional public administration approach is losing its functionality in today's world, where a rapid and widespread technological change is experienced. However, the rapid spread of information with globalization results people in different countries to make new demands from the governments in their own countries by comparing them with the examples in other countries. Blockchain has the potential to provide benefits to the public administration in terms of openness, effectiveness, accountability, reliability and participation, with its distributed and trustless infrastructure, transparency and traceability of the system, certainty, unchangeability of transactions without consensus, cost savings and efficiency. With these aspects, it finds the opportunity to be applied in different areas of public administration such as identity management, asset registration and land registry, notary and registration, electronic voting, smart contracts, health services and food safety. In this study, the applicability of blockchain technology in public administration is examined. First of all, the conceptual framework of the blockchain is presented, and its advantages and disadvantages are reviewed. Then, the benefits of blockchain technology in the context of public administration and its application areas are discussed. Subsequently, in order to better understand the technology, the use cases of blockchain technology in the world and Turkey are reviewed. Finally, the current risks and obstacles are discussed and evaluations are made on the applicability of blockchain technology in public administration
