Testing multi-factor financial asset pricing models on participation indices
Finansal piyasalarda, hisse senedi getirilerini etkileyen faktörler her dönem ilgi görmüştür.
Investigation of the effect of variable-sized energy dissipating blocks on sluice gate performance
The present research used a combination of experimental and numerical methods to investigate energy dissipation blocks of different heights placed downstream of a sluice gate in an open channel flow. Numerical model simulations were performed using a 3D computational fluid dynamics (CFD) technique, using the Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations with the volume of fluid (VOF) and k-epsilon turbulence models. The accuracy of the numerical model and the grid sensitivity was assessed according to a recommended procedure in the literature. Different hydraulic and geometry conditions were investigated to understand the energy dissipation behaviour of the blocks. The hydrodynamic effects of different block spacings, heights and configurations were analysed by means of CFD simulations. The results show that the variable size blocks have a high energy dissipation efficiency in sluice gate flows, particularly at high Froude numbers. The energy dissipation efficiency of the blocks downstream of a sluice gate can reach up to 55% for high discharges (Q = 35 L/s). Interestingly, the energy dissipation performance of small gate openings exceeds that of large gate openings, reaching a peak efficiency of 40% for the same discharge. In addition, the block spacing has a minimal effect on the energy dissipation, while smaller block spacing results in a smoother water surface profile
Some physiological and biochemical responses to Ag nanoparticle and epibrassinolid treatment against drought stress in Helianthus annuus L.
PEG'in 2.95 bar ve 4.91 bar uygulandığı Ag NP gruplarında Kl a, Kl b, toplam Kl ve karotenoid miktarları 3. günlerde artmakla birlikte 5. günlerde azalma saptandı. In this study, the responses of Helianthus annuus L. seeds to epibrassinolide (EBL) and Ag nanoparticles (Ag NP) on drought stress were investigated. The experimental groups in which EBL (0.5 nM) and Ag NP (10 nm) were applied to the seeds separately before germination were subjected to drought treatment at 2.95 bar and 4.91 bar PEG containing doses. Changes in photosynthetic pigment system, antioxidant enzyme activities such as POD, APX, SOD, CAT, ascorbic acid, H2O2, MDA, proline and relative water content (RWC) were evaluated in these groups depending on days. In EBL groups in which PEG was applied at 2.95 bar and 4.91 bar, Kl a and total Kl levels increased on day 5th, while no significant change was observed in Kl b and carotenoid levels. POD, APX and SOD levels increased on days 3rd and 5th and catalase level increased on day 3rd. Ascorbic acid, H2O2, MDA and proline levels increased on days 3rd and 5th. OSI increased at 2.95 bar and decreased at 4.91 bar on day 3rd. In Ag NP groups in which PEG was applied at 2.95 bar and 4.91 bar, Kl a, Kl b, total Kl and carotenoid amounts increased on the 3rd day but decreased on the 5th day. POD, APX and SOD levels increased on days 3 and 5, while catalase level decreased on the following days. Ascorbic acid, H2O2 and proline levels also increased depending on the days. MDA and OSI levels increased on day 3rd at 2.95 bar and decreased at 4.91 bar. Our findings indicate that EBL and Ag NP applied to H. annuus L. plants under drought stress were effective in drought tolerance

Anahtar Kelimeler: Renal transplant, hipomagnezemi, BKV CMV PCRIntroduction and purpose: Hypomagnesemia, BK polyomavirus (BKV) and cytomegalovirus (CMV) infections are important post-transplant complications in renal transplant recipients. In our study, we aimed to investigate the relationship between Mg levels and BKV and CMV positivity. Materials and methods: The study included 527 patients (359 males, 168 females) older than 18 years of age who had undergone renal transplantation at Inönü University Turgut Özal Medical Center between January 1, 2000 and January 31, 2023 or who had received renal transplantation in foreign centers between these dates and were followed up in the nephrology outpatient clinic for at least three months as renal transplant recipients. Patient data were analyzed using patient files and ENLIL computer automation system. Results: Of the 527 patients included in the study, 359 (68.1%) were male and 168 (32.9%) were female. The mean age of the patients was 45.4 +12.1 (22-83) years. Hypomagnesemia was observed in 306 patients (58%). Although there was an increase in the percentage of BKV PCR positive patients in those with hypomagnesemia, there was no statistically significant relationship between hypomagnesemia and BKV PCR positivity (p>0.05). There was no statistically significant relationship between hypomagnesemia and CMV PCR positivity (p>0.05). When the relationship between Mg supplementation and hypomagnesemia in BKV and CMV PCR negativity was analyzed, no statistically significant relationship was found (p>0.05). Conclusion: Although no significant correlation was found between BKV and CMV PCR positivity and hypomagnesemia in renal transplant recipients, the fact that BKV infection is more common in patients with hypomagnesemia suggests that Mg level should be taken into consideration to prevent infection in renal transplant patients. Manipulating Local Chemistry and Coherent Structures for High-Rate and Long-Life Sodium-Ion Battery Cathodes
Layered sodium transition-metal (TM) oxides generally suffer from severe capacity decay and poor rate performance during cycling, especially at a high state of charge (SoC). Herein, an insight into failure mechanisms within high-voltage layered cathodes is unveiled, while a two-in-one tactic of charge localization and coherent structures is devised to improve structural integrity and Na+ transport kinetics, elucidated by density functional theory calculations. Elevated Jahn-Teller [Mn3+O6] concentration on the particle surface during sodiation, coupled with intense interlayer repulsion and adverse oxygen instability, leads to irreversible damage to the near-surface structure, as demonstrated by X-ray absorption spectroscopy and in situ characterization techniques. It is further validated that the structural skeleton is substantially strengthened through the electronic structure modulation surrounding oxygen. Furthermore, optimized Na+ diffusion is effectively attainable via regulating intergrown structures, successfully achieved by the Zn2+ inducer. Greatly, good redox reversibility with an initial Coulombic efficiency of 92.6%, impressive rate capability (86.5 mAh g(-1) with 70.4% retention at 10C), and enhanced cycling stability (71.6% retention after 300 cycles at 5C) are exhibited in the P2/O3 biphasic cathode. It is believed that a profound comprehension of layered oxides will herald fresh perspectives to develop high-voltage cathode materials for sodium-ion batteries.National Natural Science Foundation of China [52325405, U21A20284, 52261135632]; National Natural Science Foundation of China [2023XQLH069, 2023XQLH070]; Postgraduate Innovative Project of Central South University; High-Performance Computing Center of Central South UniversityThis work was financially supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (52325405, U21A20284, 52261135632) and Postgraduate Innovative Project of Central South University (2023XQLH069, 2023XQLH070). The Effect of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy-Based Psychoeducation on Anger Management and Death Anxiety in Individuals Receiving Chemotherapy: A Randomized Controlled Trial
This study was conducted to examine the effect of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)-based psychoeducation on anger control and death anxiety in individuals receiving chemotherapy. The research was completed as a pretest-posttest experimental design with 80 individuals who received chemotherapy (40 control, 40 experimental). The data were collected using the Personal Information Form, the Controlled Anger Scale (CAR), and the Death Anxiety Scale (DAS). Individuals in the experimental group received eight sessions of CBT-based psychoeducation. We used percent distribution, chi-square test, and t test for dependent and independent groups were used to analyze the data. This study demonstrated that the gap among between the pretest and posttest total scores of the anger scale and death anxiety scale of the individuals in the CBT-based psychoeducation experimental group receiving chemotherapy was statistically significant (p < .05). CBT-based psychoeducation can be recommended as a professional psycho-oncology practice to improve the anger and anxiety in individuals with cancer
Clinical features, diagnosis and treatment outcomes of Cushing's disease in children: A multicenter study
Objective: Since Cushing's disease (CD) is less common in the paediatric age group than in adults, data on this subject are relatively limited in children. Herein, we aim to share the clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic features of paediatric CD cases.Design: National, multicenter and retrospective study.Patients: All centres were asked to complete a form including questions regarding initial complaints, physical examination findings, diagnostic tests, treatment modalities and follow-up data of the children with CD between December 2015 and March 2017.Measurements: Diagnostic tests of CD and tumour size. Results: Thirty-four patients (M:F = 16:18) from 15 tertiary centres were enroled. The most frequent complaint and physical examination finding were rapid weight gain, and round face with plethora, respectively. Late-night serum cortisol level was the most sensitive test for the diagnosis of hypercortisolism and morning adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) level to demonstrate the pituitary origin (100% and 96.8%, respectively). Adenoma was detected on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in 70.5% of the patients. Transsphenoidal adenomectomy (TSA) was the most preferred treatment (78.1%). At follow-up, 6 (24%) of the patients who underwent TSA were reoperated due to recurrence or surgical failure. Conclusions: Herein, national data of the clinical experience on paediatric CD have been presented. Our findings highlight that presenting complaints may be subtle in children, the sensitivities of the diagnostic tests are very variable and require a careful interpretation, and MRI fails to detect adenoma in approximately one-third of cases. Finally, clinicians should be aware of the recurrence of the disease during the follow-up after surgery
