    No full text
In recent years, health entities such as hospitals, in addition to needing high-resistance concrete, there are areas in which high-density concrete must be used, such as the case of X-ray rooms, since it is essential to protect patients. direct users and continuous environments due to the radiation emitted by the devices used, since they deteriorate ADN. Therefore, the objective of this research is to determine the effect of high-density concrete using the barite material for structural elements used in health entities in the city of Trujillo. This study is based on an experimental methodology that ranges from obtaining materials, analysis of aggregates, design of mixtures of standard concrete and concrete with dosages of 10%, 20% and 30% of barite as a partial replacement of AF, physical tests and concrete mechanics considering a total of 48 samples for the RC test and 16 samples for the capillary suction test. From the results obtained, concrete that has 30% barite was found to be optimal as a replacement for AF, which increases the PU of the concrete by 3.30% compared to untreated concrete; Likewise, it reduces the CR at 28 days of age by 13.01% compared to the standard sample but easily exceeds the design resistance; and regarding capillary suction, it reaches the most unfavorable values with an average increase in the initial and secondary rate of water absorption of 328.13% and 162.5% respectively in terms of the values reached by untreated concrete; However, it is proposed to correct this last property through the use of waterproofing additives.TesisODS 3: Salud y bienestarODS 9: Industria, innovación e infraestructuraODS 6: Agua limpia y saneamient

Insulin resistance indices or scores used in adults with associated metabolic pathologies. Scoping Review

    No full text
Although the hyperinsulinemic-euglycemic clamp is the gold standard for its measurement, its complexity and cost limit its clinical application. This study identifies and analyzes the indices and scores used to estimate IR in an accessible manner across different populations. Methods: A scoping review was conducted following the PRISMA-ScR methodology, with a systematic search in eight scientific databases. The selected studies were analyzed based on eligibility criteria that included any method for measuring IR, assessing the validity of the scores and the risk of bias using the QUADAS-2 tool. Results: A total of 27 scores were identified in 41 articles, of which 7 compared their results with the hyperinsulinemic-euglycemic clamp and were validated in populations with metabolic syndrome and healthy individuals. No study was rated as low risk of bias. The most commonly used indices included HOMA-IR, the TyG index, and QUICKI. A wide variability in cutoff points was observed, which may affect their clinical applicability. Conclusions: The 27 IR indices reported in this study provide a viable alternative to the hyperinsulinemic-euglycemic clamp but require further validation and standardization. Additional studies are needed to improve their diagnostic accuracy and facilitate their integration into clinical practice, optimizing IR management.TesisODS 9: Industria, innovación e infraestructuraODS 4: Educación de calidadODS 8: Trabajo decente y crecimiento económic

    No full text
Background: There is conflicting data regarding the optimal abductor mechanism (AM) repair technique after resection of proximal femur tumors. We sought to compare functional outcomes following tumor resection and reconstruction with proximal femoral replacement based on the AM repair technique utilized. Methods: We conducted a systematic review following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis guidelines. We established two study groups based on AM repair technique as follows: soft-tissue reattachment (STr) and greater trochanter preservation (GTp). In the STr group, the gluteus medius and minimus muscles were reattached to the endoprosthesis, whereas in the GTp group, the greater trochanter and gluteal tendons were preserved. The STr group was further subdivided into direct and indirect reattachments. Weighted means adjusting for sample size were calculated. Results: A total of 658 patients from 12 articles were included. Patients who had STr displayed higher Musculoskeletal Tumor Society scores (75 versus 67.3%, P < 0.001), lower rates of Trendelenburg gait (33.9 versus 52.4%, P < 0.01), and ambulation with assistive devices (30.4 versus 54.9%, P < 0.001) compared to the GTp group. Within the STr group, indirect reattachment was associated with higher Musculoskeletal Tumor Society scores (87.2 versus 70.1%, P < 0.001) and lower rates of Trendelenburg gait (3.8 versus 36.3%, P < 0.001) and ambulation with assistive devices (0 versus 42.4%, P < 0.001) compared to direct reattachment. The reattachment hardware failure rate in GTp was 15%. Conclusion: A STr provided superior functional outcomes compared to GTp in tumor-related proximal femoral replacement. From a functional outcome perspective, the use of indirect STr was better compared to direct STr. No full text
The gender difference in leadership and subordinates’ empowerment has been a controversial topic studied in several countries. This study examines how gender moderates the relationship between the perceived leader humility and the subordinate psychological empowerment in a country that scores high in the power distance index. Four dyads were studied considering leader gender, male or female, and subordinate gender: M-M, F-M, M-F, F-F. Four hypotheses were tested with a questionnaire applied to 253 MBA students in Ecuador. Multi-group analysis was used with the bootstrapping technique. It was found that gender had a significant moderating effect in three of the studied relationships, being the M-M and F-M dyads the ones that presented the highest correlations. The results showed that male subordinates value humility attributes in their leaders, whether male or female, while the relationship was not significant for the F-F dyad.ODS 5: Igualdad de géneroODS 3: Salud y bienestarODS 4: Educación de calida

This research aims to make known parents’ beliefs on parental and school disciplinary strategies in students of 3rd grade of primary school, in a private school of Lima. Currently, school discipline is relevant due to the changes that have taken place throughout the years, in the way inadequate behavior of students is corrected, thus reevaluating the orientation of traditional discipline towards positive discipline. Additionally, it is important that the disciplinary strategies from the school align with the parental discipline. This is a basic study, with a qualitative and phenomenological approach, using a non-probability convenience sampling applied to 10 participants, and semi-structured in-depth interviews to collect the data. The results revealed that parents are unaware of the disciplinary strategies applied at the school to deal with behavioral problems, which demonstrates a lack of timely communication between the school members and parents. To conclude, it is relevant for the school to provide the adequate channels to enable a constant dialog with parents about the disciplinary strategies, and to work collaboratively with them towards the improvement of the children's behavior.Trabajo de investigació
