No full textCompendi d'articlesLa tesis doctoral gira en torno a los resultados obtenido con la utilización de un nuevo sistema endovascular para la realización de fístulas arteriovenosas en los pacientes en hemodiálisis. Se trata de una tesis por compendio de publicaciones en la que se han incluido un total de 4 publicaciones. Una de ellas se trata de un estudio prospectivo descriptivo de los resultados obtenidos durante el primer año de seguimiento tras su realización. Otro de ellos compara prospectivamente los resultados de estas fistulas endovasculares con fistulas realizadas de manera quirúrgica a lo largo de un año tras su realización. El tercero se trata de una revisión sistemática de la literatura en la que se observa la disparidad de género que se encuentran en la utilización de estos dispositivos a pesar de tratarse de métodos novedosos y el último de ellos es un caso clínico que ejemplifica los beneficios que podrían tener dichos sistemas mínimamente invasivos.The doctoral thesis focuses on the results obtained using a new endovascular system to create arteriovenous fistulas in hemodialysis patients. It is a thesis by a compendium of publications, which includes four papers. One of them is a prospective descriptive study of the outcomes during the first year of follow-up after the procedure. Another is a prospective comparison of the results of these endovascular fistulas versus surgically created fistulas over a one-year follow-up period. The third is a systematic review of the literature, highlighting the gender disparity observed in the use of these devices, despite being innovative methods. The final publication is a clinical case that illustrates the potential benefits of these minimally invasive systems.Programa de Doctorat en Cièncie

Under the Sign of Trauma: An Analysis of William Faulkner’s 1929-1932 Novels
No full textDoctorat internacionalThis dissertation explores the dimensions of trauma in William Faulkner’s most experimental body of work written between 1929 and 1932. Interrogating trauma as a thematic concern and a formal strategy, I devise a tripartite structure to synchronically analyze its psychological, social, and aesthetic manifestations in the novelist's major novels. Specifically, this interdisciplinary analysis foregrounds the psychological expressions of suffering in Faulkner’s protagonists; situates individual distress within institutional frameworks; and locates the novelist’s strategies close to the formal mechanisms structuring traumatization. In its conclusions, this project identifies a poetics of trauma in Faulkner’s fiction. My reading brings into focus the author’s psychological intuition and considers new motivations behind his formal experimentation. Ultimately, by approaching trauma as both a clinical and formal entity, I establish a continuum between polarized views of trauma as either a biological reality or an aesthetic construct.Programa de Doctorat en Llengües Aplicades, Literatura i Traducci

No full textDoctorat internacionalEl estudio analiza cómo la continuidad y variación de elementos visuales y literarios desarrollados entre los siglos XVI y XIX consolidaron el estereotipo de la "indígena colaboracionista", representado por Malinche y Pocahontas. Desde un enfoque iconológico, se examina cómo ambas figuras fueron construidas simbólicamente bajo un ideario eurocéntrico. Más allá de su papel histórico, la investigación estudia sus imágenes como representaciones fronterizas y transformadoras que legitimaron un modelo hegemónico y proyectaron sobre el cuerpo femenino los ideales y temores de la cultura dominante. El análisis abarca desde códices y grabados hasta obras decimonónicas, revelando cómo el arte actuó a modo de dispositivo ideológico. La tesis, dividida en dos tomos, propone una lectura crítica que entiende las imágenes como procesos vivos de reinterpretación, evidenciando las tensiones entre poder, género y alteridad en la construcción simbólica de ambas figuras.The study examines how the continuity and variation of visual and literary elements developed between the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries consolidated the stereotype of the "collaborationist Indigenous woman", embodied by Malinche and Pocahontas. From an iconological perspective, it explores the ways in which both figures were symbolically constructed within a Eurocentric framework. Beyond their historical roles, the research emphasizes their images as liminal and transformative representations that legitimized a hegemonic model and projected the dominant culture’s ideals and anxieties onto the female body. The analysis spans materials ranging from codices and engravings to nineteenth-century works, revealing how art functioned as an ideological device aimed at exposing the tensions between power, gender, and alterity.Programa de Doctorat en Història de l'Ar

No full textCompendi d'articles, Doctorat internacionalThis thesis primarily aims to assess the effectiveness of a projection-based augmented reality exposure therapy (P-ARET) for treating cockroach phobia (CP) and to examine attentional biases (AB) in CP using eye-tracking technology. Chapter 1 presents a systematic review focused on AB measured by eye-tracking in specific phobias. Chapter 2 presents validation of a standardized set of animal images, including a representative number of cockroach images, and Chapter 3 reports the results of an experimental study comparing AB in CP versus healthy controls. Chapters 4 to 6 are focused on exploring the effectiveness of augmented reality (AR) exposure therapy. Specifically, chapter 4 presents a systematic review focused on the AR for anxiety disorders. Chapter 5 includes a randomized controlled trial (RCT) protocol comparing P-ARET to in vivo and wait-list control conditions, and Chapter 6 presents the preliminary results of this RCT including the assessment of AB change after exposure treatment.Programa de Doctorat en Psicologi

The work is structured into three chapters, each focusing on distinct topics. The first chapter explores the synthesis of 1,2-diamines derived from aldehydes. This involves a three-step telescoped process, starting with a Darzens reaction to produce intermediate epoxysulfones. These intermediates react with amines to form amino-imines, which are subsequently converted into the final diamines using a reductive agent. The remaining two chapters focus on the design, synthesis, and evaluation of protease inhibitors. The second chapter details the development of novel proteasome inhibitors, designed as enhancements to well-known proteasome inhibitors, exhibiting in vitro activity in the nanomolar range. The third chapter describes the serendipitous discovery and preparation of a new class of compounds containing a carbamoyl azide functional group as a reactive warhead. These peptidyl carbamoyl azides have been identified as potent inhibitors of cysteine proteases.Programa de Doctorat en Cièncie
El rol de las ONGD en la Agenda 2030: una aproximación desde el conocimiento cotidiano
No full textEsta tesis examina las percepciones ciudadanas sobre el papel de las ONGD en la Agenda 2030, en un contexto actual de transformación de la cooperación internacional y de cuestionamiento de los actores tradicionales. Basada en el enfoque de las teorías implícitas de Rodríguez et al. (1993), combina en su metodología fases cualitativas y cuantitativas mediante un diseño secuencial. Los hallazgos muestran una brecha entre la imagen proyectada por las ONGD y las representaciones ciudadanas: si bien se reconocen sus aportaciones, persisten dudas sobre la sostenibilidad e impacto de sus acciones. Las percepciones varían según factores como la edad o el grado de vinculación con la cooperación, y revelan tensiones entre los discursos transformadores y las prácticas desconectadas de las prioridades locales. Se concluye que las ONGD deben redefinir su rol estratégico, fortaleciendo su capacidad de incidencia, de construcción de alianzas y de impulso a una ciudadanía crítica e informada.This research examines citizens’ perceptions of the role played by Non-Governmental Development Organizations (NGDOs) in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. Drawing on the implicit theories framework proposed by Rodríguez et al. (1993), the research adopts a mixed and sequential design that combines qualitative and quantitative phases to identify the cognitive frameworks through which citizens perceive the actions of NGDOs. The results reveal a gap between the institutional image projected by these organizations and the social representations constructed by citizens regarding their contribution to sustainable development. Although citizens generally value their commitment, doubts persist about the sustainability and transformative scope of their interventions. The research also highlights significant differences related to age and familiarity with the 2030 Agenda, underscoring the need for NGDOs to strengthen their role as agents of social change.Programa de Doctorat en Desenvolupament Local i Cooperació Internaciona
Factores de éxito en los equipos de trabajo de los sistemas Lean Management
No full textLos sistemas Lean se basan en una serie de principios cuya implantación incluye recursos técnicos y humanos, donde se desarrollan los equipos de trabajo multifuncionales. El objetivo principal de esta tesis es investigar las dimensiones de los equipos lean que influyen en el funcionamiento de los sistemas Lean y en los Resultados de Operaciones de las empresas. La población del estudio está formada por empresas de diferentes sectores industriales. Los datos se analizan mediante regresión lineal. Los resultados muestran que las características clave de los equipos de trabajo lean son Interdependencia, Formación al equipo, Roles de comportamiento, Toma de decisiones compartida, Liderazgo y Aprendizaje interno y externo del equipo, cuya influencia varía según el tipo de resultado considerado. Estos resultados aportan información para la dirección de los sistemas Lean en general y de los equipos de trabajo en particular.Lean systems are based on a series of principles whose implementation includes technical and human resources, where multifunctional work teams are developed. The main objective of this thesis is to investigate the dimensions of Lean work teams that influence lean and operations performance. The study population are companies from different industrial sectors. Data are analyzed using linear regression analysis. Results show that the key characteristics of work teams are interdependence, team building, behavioral roles, shared decision making, leadership, internal learning team and external learning team. The influence of those variables depends on the type of outcome considered, lean performance, quality, delivery and flexibility. No significant effect is shown when cost performance is considered. These results provide information for the management of Lean systems in general and of work teams in particular.Programa de Doctorat en Economia i Empres
