El Alto Tribunal acude a la doctrina contenida en la STS de 14 de julio de 2014, a la STJUE de 30 de junio de 2022 y usa la perspectiva de género para conceder simultáneamente dos pensiones de IPT en profesiones feminizadasA self-employed hairdresser with the right to an IPT pension in the RETA who subsequently works as a cleaner in the General Regime may be a beneficiary of another IPT pension in this second Regime. Compatibility is granted by the High Court even taking into account that contributions from the General Regime are counted to generate the first pension. The High Court resorts to the doctrine contained in the STS of July 14, 2014, to the STJUE of June 30, 2022 and uses the gender perspective to simultaneously grant two IPT pensions in feminized professions
Exploring Deep Learning-based Visual SLAM from Dense Time-of-Fligth Images
Treball Final de Màster Universitari en en Sistemes Intel·ligents (Pla de 2023). Codi: SJK016. Curs acadèmic: 2024-2025Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) addresses the estimation of the position and orientation of an agent within an unknown physical environment while building a representation (map) of such environment. The thesis focuses on visual SLAM (VSLAM), i.e. SLAM from visual sensory. Most past work on VSLAM relies on conventional RGB cameras, while the interest of this thesis revolves around VSLAM for time-of-flight (ToF) cameras. Due to the different nature of these range images (noisy depth estimates and infrared intensity images), existing approaches might not be appropriate.
The main goal of this thesis is to study proven deep learning methods for VSLAM and how they perform on ToF data either with or without any adaptation. Unfortunately, since little work exists on VSLAM with ToF sensors, there are no quality datasets that can be used for method development or validation in this setup of the problem. To partially fill this gap, three ideas have been considered here. First, pseudo-infrared images from existing datasets that include depth information have been produced. Second, synthetic sequences have been generated by using ToF simulators. And third, a research real ToF camera was used to capture a few sequences. The study has focused on DROID-SLAM, a well-known, high-performance, deeplearning-based VSLAM method which relies on correlation volumes, context encoders, and optical flow to find image correspondences, and employs iterative flow field revisions between pairs of co-visible images to estimate depth maps and poses, using Bundle Adjustment, a popular non-linear optimization technique to reduce the reprojection error. Evaluation of the performance of DROID-SLAM on our data is both quantitative (by comparing the estimated camera trajectory to the ground-truth trajectory), and qualitative (by judging the reconstruction and how reasonable the results are). Extensive comparison has been made between the RGB-D data as a baseline, and variations of it, including the ToF data
Exploring the dark side of engagement: hidden costs to job satisfaction and well-being
This thesis examines the less explored side of employee engagement, particularly how it relates to emotional labor, stress, and job satisfaction. While engagement is often seen as positive, the research shows that it can also have unintended negative effects on employee well-being. By investigating these connections in depth, the study sheds light on how emotional demands at work may influence the experience of engagement and its outcomes. The findings offer useful insights for both scholars and practitioners, highlighting the need for a more balanced approach when promoting engagement in the workplace. This research aims to open up new directions for understanding and managing engagement in a way that supports both performance and employee health.
This examines the protection afforded to passengers on Spain’s high-speed rail services, with particular emphasis on the right to compensation for delays. It analyses the recently enacted government measure requiring Renfe to offer conditions more favourable than those of its competitors, as well as its legal soundness. The paper also considers the method of payment of compensation and its compliance with European law. To that end, it first addresses the protection of rail passengers in the EU, followed by an examination of the impact of Regulation (EU) No 2021/782 in Spain, with special reference to its scope of application and to the minimum protection rights that must be guaranteed to passengers in cases of delays, missed connections, and cancellations
Big Data and Social Media for Sustainability: Proposal for a framework and methodology to foster People Sustainable Behavior and to assess Corporate Sustainability
Compendi d'articlesA large part of the population is not aware of the importance of sustainable behaviours and continues engaging in behaviours like failing to recycle, littering in natural settings, wasting water, overconsuming, etc. On the other hand, to know whether a company is behaving sustainably, stakeholders usually resort to the sustainability reports issued by the corporations themselves. However, this can lead to information bias or greenwashing. This PhD theses contribute to solve two research gaps regarding individuals' lack of awareness of the need for sustainable behaviours, and the lack of an independent procedure to assess Corporate Sustainability, by (1) Proposing a guiding framework on how to use Online Social Networks (OSNs) for Sustainability Awareness and Individuals’ Behaviour, as well developing a future research agenda in the field; and (2) Developing a method to assess Corporate Sustainability with an ESG approach (environmental, social and governance) using stakeholders’ opinions on the internet.Programa de Doctorat en Economia i Empres
Improvement of Cardiometabolic Control with Dapagliflozin in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes in Primary Care: The AGORA-AP Study
Background and Objectives: To assess the effects of adding dapagliflozin to an antidiabetic regimen, compared to standard of care (SOC) antidiabetic therapy and a cohort of patients who remained on a non-SGLT2i antidiabetic regimen without treatment modification despite persistent HbA1c elevation, on cardiometabolic control over a 12-month period in real-world settings. Materials and Methods: This ambispective (retrospective and prospective) observational study enrolled adults with type 2 diabetes who had received first-line metformin therapy, or an alternative antidiabetic agent in cases of intolerance or contraindication, excluding SGLT2 inhibitors, for a minimum of 12 months prior to recruitment. Patients were allocated to one of three groups: DAPA, SOC, or therapeutic inertia. Each patient attended three visits. The retrospective (V1–V0) and prospective (V0–V2) follow-up periods each extended for a minimum duration of six months. The primary endpoint was the change in cardiometabolic control from baseline to week 26 (V0), defined as HbA1c reduction ≥ 0.5%, weight loss ≥ 2 kg, and a systolic blood pressure drop ≥ 2 mmHg. Results: Five hundred thirty-five diabetes patients were included (39.1% women), with mean age (SD) 63.8 (8.2) years, body mass index 30.4 (4.9) kg/m2, and HbA1c 6.93 (0.9) %. More patients achieved cardiometabolic control with dapagliflozin (21.8%) vs. SOC + inertia (1.9%), OR 12.7 (95% CI 5.3–30.6), p < 0.001. The difference became greater over the entire study period. Event rates were low, but dapagliflozin exhibited fewer events numerically. The safety profile of dapagliflozin was consistent with previous findings. Conclusions: Treatment with dapagliflozin as add-on therapy was associated with improved cardiometabolic control over time compared to SOC, along with a numerical reduction in event
This research explores how the Jaume I University (Castellón de la Plana) promotes inclusive education from the perspective of autistic students, using the framework of Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Through a qualitative methodology and seven studies, various barriers to their participation and learning are identified, as well as facilitators aligned with the UDL approach. Although faculty members display a proactive attitude, they often lack knowledge on how to implement more inclusive practices. Support services play a key role, although greater coordination among stakeholders is needed to ensure that their functions are truly effective. The training initiative Encuentros fosters dialogue among students, faculty, and specialists to collectively build knowledge and advance toward a more inclusive university. The research concludes that UJI demonstrates a commitment to inclusion, while also highlighting the need for stronger institutional support to drive such initiatives as part of its university model.
This study investigates Business and Administration students’ pragmatic production and perception of high-imposition email requests. Thirty L1 Spanish students with a high proficiency level in English wrote four requestive emails by means of Discourse Completion Tasks (DCTs). These tasks included two distinct social variables: more power and social distance (+P, +D) in emails addressed to the manager, and less power and social distance (-P, -D) in emails addressed to a colleague. Results show that students opted for conventionally indirect strategies regardless of power and social distance, and that only closings partly contributed to soften the degree of imposition. As for pragmatic perception, the students who were interviewed reported they were aware of the difference in power and social distance of the addressees; however, this awareness did not show in the strategies used in their requests.
