Bayarri-Porcar, V. et. al. Exploring the Use of Eye Tracking to Evaluate Usability Affordances: A Case Study on Assistive Device Design (Dataset)

    No full text
This dataset contains eye-tracking and usability evaluation data collected for the study entitled “Exploring the Use of Eye Tracking to Evaluate Usability Affordances: A Case Study on Assistive Device Design”. The study involved 64 participants (mean age: 39.2 years; SD: 11.3) and was structured in two phases. In the first phase, participants viewed 3D-rendered images of six different jar-opening devices, each presented in two design variants—with and without rubber grip elements—while their gaze was recorded. In the second phase, participants physically interacted with the same devices in a hands-on usability task. For each device, participants rated six affordances: robustness, comfort, easiness to grip, lid slipperiness, effort level, and easiness to use. The dataset includes eye-tracking metrics (e.g., fixation durations, fixation counts, and visit durations) from the visual inspection phase. The dataset is valuable for research in human factors, product ergonomics, and user-centered design, particularly in the context of early-stage evaluation of assistive technologies

Treball Final de Grau en Psicologia. Codi: PS1048. Curs: 2024/2025The coexistence of multiple generations in today’s workplace represents one of the main challenges and opportunities for organisations. Differences in values, expectations, communication styles, and ways of understanding work can directly influence motivation, job satisfaction, and the organisational climate. This study presents a systematic review of the scientific literature with the aim of: (1) identifying whether intergenerational differences affect the functioning of organisations; (2) understanding how each generational cohort values work and how these differences impact the work experience; and (3) analysing the role of reverse mentoring as a strategy to foster intergenerational collaboration. The review was conducted using the PRISMA convention, following the guidelines of Moher et al. (2021). Structured searches were carried out in the PsycINFO and Scopus databases, selecting empirical studies published between 2015 and 2024 that employed structured questionnaires and robust statistical analyses. The results reveal relevant generational differences in relation to the meaning of work, job expectations, organisational commitment, and methods of communication and collaboration. However, common ground was also identified across generations, as well as a tendency to exaggerate certain differences based on stereotypes not always supported by empirical evidence. Additionally, reverse mentoring emerges as an effective tool for reducing tensions, encouraging mutual learning, and strengthening cohesion between generations. Under favourable organisational conditions—such as inclusive leadership, a respectful climate, and strong organisational identification—generational diversity can become a driver of innovation, performance, and long-term sustainability.

Exploring the accessibility creative continuum on streaming platforms: A contrastive multimodal analysis of subjectivity and objectivity in audio description

    No full text
The suitability of objective or subjective audio description (AD) is still an ongoing topic with opposite views. While AD guidelines used by some countries and streaming platforms support the traditional perspective of providing an objective or denotational description, growing interest has developed among researchers towards a more narrative, subjective, or interpretative description. In this paper, we explore whether the AD provided by different streaming platforms can be located at the same point along an accessibility creative continuum in terms of objectivity and subjectivity. To fulfil our aim, a multimodal analysis based on audiovisual texts’ meaning codes was used to operationalize how objectivity and subjectivity interact in a corpus of AD in English from Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, and Apple TV+. Our results show, firstly, that both objectivity and subjectivity appear in the AD excerpts from every platform. Secondly, our findings point to dissimilarities when comparing the frequency of objective and subjective elements that interact in each platform’s AD. More specifically, whereas Apple TV+ seems to be closer to the objectivity end of the creative continuum, Disney+ can be located near the subjectivity end, with both Amazon Prime Video and Netflix being roughly in the middle. In conclusion, if we consider pure objectivity and subjectivity in AD as two opposite poles of a continuum, the AD provided by these streaming platforms displays different degrees of creativity

Unraveling the Role of Open Metal Sites and Their Capping Ligands in MOFs Stability and Liquid-Phase Separation

    No full text
The stability of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) is crucial for their practical applications. Open metal sites (OMS), essential active sites in various applications, also significantly impact stability, yet their role remains insufficiently understood. This study investigates MOF-808, a zirconium-based MOF with six OMS per cluster, revealing its higher stability in liquid water compared to gaseous water. Coordination of formic acid at OMS notably enhances water stability, while recrystallization experiments elucidate the mechanisms of instability in gaseous water. Thermal stability is determined by the decomposition temperature of capping ligands on OMS. In liquid-phase adsorption of high-value bio-oil compound creosol, uptake results demonstrate that capping ligand polarity modulates pore hydrophilicity/hydrophobicity, affecting adsorption selectivity. Remarkably, MOF-808 capped with pentafluorobenzoic acid achieves 100% selective pore occupancy during adsorption. This study highlights OMS as critical to MOF stability and emphasizes the role of capping ligands in improving stability and tuning adsorption properties. It underscores nonstructural ligand modifications as a powerful strategy to enhance MOF performance, broadening their application potential in challenging environments. This work was supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (22471027, 22101039, 22311530679), the State Key Laboratory of Catalysis (2024SKL-A-006, N-23-01), the Foundation of State Key Laboratory of Coal Conversion (J24-25-611), the Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities (DUT24LK004), the Open Research Fund of Guangdong Advanced Carbon Materials Co., Ltd. The Map of Employment Relationships in Spain

    No full text
This study represents the first attempt to map a critical business attribute related to human resource management (HRM): the employment relationship. Using an exploratory research design, it classifies Spanish municipalities based on the prevalence of companies adopting specific types of employment relationships and visualises their geographical distribution across Spain through interactive choropleth maps (see https://datawrapper.dwcdn.net/RLhX0/2/). Furthermore, it explores the associations between different types of employment relationships and various demographic characteristics (i.e., urbanisation and ageing). The findings reveal the typical profile of employment relationships in Spanish municipalities, where the quasi-spot contract employment relationship is predominant. The study highlights the interplay between employment relationships and demographic factors, underscoring how HRM is embedded in the societal context and framing the municipality as a human resource ecosyste

Dynamic Viscosity and Specific Heat Capacity of Near Eutectic Gallium–Indium–Tin Alloy

    No full text
The study presents experimental data of the viscosity and specific heat capacity of the near eutectic gallium–indium–tin alloy. Viscosity data cover the temperature range from the alloy’s melting point of 283.85 K (10.70 °C) to about 370.47 K (97.32 °C). Two independent teams using a capillarity viscosimeter and an oscillating cup viscosimeter obtained almost identical values. Below 373 K (100 °C) the data follow the Arrhenius correlation. Specific heat capacity data result from differential scanning calorimetry measurements and reach from 236 K (− 37 °C) to 340 K (67 °C). The Neumann–Kopp rule gives neither the solid nor the liquid state a satisfactory representation of the data. Approximation functions represent these two regions separately in an excellent manner. The study discusses several issues related to the thermophysical properties, namely melting and crystallisation, and a possible liquid-to-liquid crossover

Mental health and academic performance in adolescents : elucidating the role of psychological well-being and psychological distress. DADOS Study

    No full text
Adolescents' mental health and academic performance are subjects of paramount interest. Previous studies have revealed a strong association between these constructs during school years. However, there is little evidence about the dual-factor model of mental health, which includes a combination of psychological well-being and distress indicators, and there is no clear consensus on the possible differences by sex. Therefore, the aims of this study were to analyze the association between the dual-factor model of mental health and academic performance and to analyze sex differences in a sample of secondary school students. The sample was formed by a total of 265 adolescents (126 females) aged 13.9 ± 0.3 years old, from the DADOS study. Mental health status was self-reported through the Behavior Assessment System for Children and Adolescents. Academic performance was assessed through academic grades and the Test of Educational Ability. The findings showed that the emotional symptoms index was negatively associated with academic grades. Psychological well-being was positively associated with academic grades, while psychological distress was negatively associated with academic grades, except for anxiety. Stratified analyses by sex showed largely similar results. These results expand the current knowledge, supporting the idea that promoting mental health during adolescence could help to enhance academic grades.Funding for open access charge: CRUE-Universitat Jaume
