Memoria Histórica: análisis transdisciplinario del proyecto de la UNESCO “La ruta del esclavo”. Estudio comparado y sistémico.

    No full text
Historical Memory stands as a critical praxis against the silences of hegemonic historiography, incorporating subaltern testimonies and knowledge as legitimate forms of understanding. The transatlantic slave trade, a foundational pillar of modern capitalism, has been omitted as a non-prescriptible crime and its memory demands integral reparation and redistributive justice. This work analyzes UNESCO’s Slave Route project as a case of memory recovery with present-day implications despite the historical distance. It examines similarities and tensions with other institutional and transitional justice frameworks concerning crimes against humanity and human rights violations within an exclusionary extractivist order. Mere commemoration without transformation reinforces impunity, while Afro-descendant struggles have produced a heritage that redefines formerly subaltern spaces. Far from nostalgic, Historical Memory is a political tool that confronts structural racism and reactivates genealogies of emancipatory resistance.Programa de Doctorat en Història i Estudis Contemporani

    Quantum (r,δ)-locally recoverable codes

    No full text
Classical (r, δ)-locally recoverable codes are designed for avoiding loss of information in large scale distributed and cloud storage systems. We introduce the quantum counterpart of those codes by defining quantum (r, δ)-locally recoverable codes which are quantum error-rrecting codes capable of correcting δ − 1 qudit erasures from sets of at most r + δ − 1 qudits. We give a necessary and sufficient condition for a quantum stabilizer code Q(C) to be (r, δ)-locally recoverable. Our condition depends only on the puncturing and shortening at suitable sets of both the symplectic self-orthogonal code C used for constructing Q(C) and its symplectic dual C⊥s . When Q(C) comes from a Hermitian or Euclidean dualcontaining code, and under an extra condition, we show that there is an equivalence between the classical and quantum concepts of (r, δ)-local recoverability. A Singleton-like bound is stated in this case and examples attaining the bound are givenFunding for open access charge: CRUE-Universitat Jaume

Impact of early life experiences on effort-based decision-making and mesolimbic CDNF: studies in mice of both sexes

    No full text
Doctorat internacionalMotivation involves processes that regulate the direction and intensity of behavior, with impairments in its activational component (anergia) being central to several neuropsychiatric disorders. Dopamine signaling in the mesolimbic system, particularly in the nucleus accumbens, plays a key role in effort-related behavior, and vulnerability to motivational dysfunctions may be shaped by early-life experiences, sex, and age. This dissertation uses translational rodent models to examine how early-life manipulations affect effort-based decision-making and related behaviors in male and female mice across the lifespan. Behavioral tasks assessed willingness to exert effort, preference for active reinforcers, and depression-related symptoms. Additionally, the work provides a detailed characterization of the cerebral dopamine neurotrophic factor (CDNF) within dopaminergic pathways, focusing on its role in motivation. Overall, the findings highlight how developmental experiences and biological variables influence motivational processes, with implications for identifying vulnerability and resilience and for developing more personalized treatments for neuropsychiatric disorders.Programa de Doctorat en Psicologi

Cooperative Robots for Construction — Material Handling and Stigmergic Methods

    No full text
Doctorat internacionalAutonomous robotic systems are poised to transform the construction industry by enabling teams of mobile robots to collaborate on material handling and assembly tasks. This dissertation advances the state of the art in cooperative mobile robotics for construction through an integrated exploration of hardware development, control architecture, simulation, and experimental validation. We design and implement a novel omnidirectional robot platform with a modular design and a friction-based lifting mechanism, allowing multiple robots to jointly lift and transport building materials without the need for complex grippers. Using this platform, a distributed control architecture orchestrates multi-robot coordination, and we systematically evaluate how key parameters – including robot mass, movement speed, team size, and task allocation strategy – impact the efficiency of both individual and cooperative operations. In parallel, drawing inspiration from social insects, we investigate stigmergic construction methods as a decentralized approach to multi-robot assembly. Using a custom lightweight simulator and high-fidelity ARGoS simulations, we develop and assess rule-based strategies in which robots coordinate indirectly by modifying their environment. These experiments demonstrate that simple local interaction rules can give rise to complex emergent structures. We also introduce a gripper tool design for block manipulation to bridge the gap between simulation and physical implementation of stigmergic building. Overall, the results validate the feasibility of employing cooperative robots for both shared-load material handling and decentralized construction. This work provides new insights into the design of multi-robot platforms and control frameworks for the construction domain, and it outlines practical guidelines to inform future robotic construction systems.Programa de Doctorat en Informàtic

Solo and shared tourist experience: The competition between intrinsic and extrinsic motivations

    No full text
With solo travel continuing to rise globally, it is crucial for both scholars and practitioners to understand how solo versus collective experiences shape satisfaction and word of mouth (WOM). Based on self-determination theory (SDT), this study aims to examine the differences between solo and shared tourist experiences and their impact on satisfaction and WOM. A survey yielded 1,206 valid responses from tourists who had taken one of three types of trip (solo, couples, or family) to seven Spanish tourist destinations and revealed that solo travellers use social media more frequently than couples and families. While satisfaction levels were comparable, the drivers of that satisfaction differed: accommodation plays a stronger role for solo travellers, whereas gastronomy is more important for couples and families. These findings extend SDT to the tourism domain by showing distinct motivational pathways, while offering practical guidance for tailoring hospitality services to solo versus collective travellers.Funding for open access charge: CRUE-Universitat Jaume

La protesta feminista a través del performance art. Una aproximación al caso español (1970 – 2000)

    No full text
In Spain, the last decades of the twentieth century marked a turning point in the consolidation of feminist activism, during a period in which performance art ‒shaped by the dissident rhythms of the counterculture‒ played an important role as a tool for feminist protest and action. This thesis examines, using a critical-interpretive methodology, how this historical convergence encouraged the ‒whether conscious or not‒ use of the language of performance art by feminist collectives in Spain to articulate and make visible their protests against oppressive systems.Programa de Doctorat en Estudis Interdisciplinaris de Gèner
