    No full text
After COVID-19, short-video social software led by TikTok and Douyin (Chinese version) became popular worldwide. At the same time, some traditional media gradually fell out of young people’s attention due to their old forms and failure to keep up with the trend. In this environment, short-video news self-media have begun to take their place in China’s media industry. This study aims to explore the rise of short-video news self-media in China and its profit model. Although the literature on this field is relatively limited, short video news self-media, as an emerging form of media, has important research value. This dissertation first introduces relevant concepts, including short video, self-media, and short video news, to provide readers with background knowledge. Then, it discusses in detail the basic operation mode, content characteristics, and profitability of Douyin. In addition, this study explains the creators’ motivations and examines the impact of censorship and self-censorship on self-media in China. This dissertation hopes to fill the research gap of short video news self-media and provide insights for understanding media transformation and news ecological change

Post-Colonial International Organizations: a comparative study between CPLP, Commonwealth and Francophonie

In an international order focused on multilateralism and where international organizations occupy a great prominence, post-colonial international organizations serve a fundamental role within it. These organizations, which bring together former colonial masters and their respective former colonies, have the great task of managing a historical legacy of colonialism and oppression of several of these states through cooperation, centered on common factors among their member states, such as language or culture. The analysis of three of these organizations, the Community of Portuguese Language Countries, the International Organization of the Francophonie and the Commonwealth of Nations, organizations that bring together the former colonial empires of Portugal, France and the United Kingdom, respectively. After an analysis of them, it was possible to conclude that, although these organizations have different origins, largely determined by the type of regime they possessed and the way in which the issue of decolonization was addressed, all of them have adopted, at the present day, common objectives and missions, very connoted with the defense of the values established by the Charter of the United Nations. Parallel to these idyllic goals, however, is the contrast of the reality of organizations and their member states, whose action often translates into violations of the statutes of the organizations to which they belong. These transgressions, from human rights violations to violations of individual and political freedoms, are addressed by these three organizations in disparate ways, with some yielding to these pressures, seconding their goals in the name of parallel goals of member states, while others endure them and manage to preserve their integrity

Abstract Malaria, one of the main global infectious diseases, is caused by parasites of the genus Plasmodium spp. transmitted by female mosquitoes of the genus Anopheles spp. The resistance of Plasmodium falciparum to antimalarial treatments has driven the search for new therapeutic solutions. The present work focuses on the evaluation of the antimalarial activity of new synthetic endoperoxides, against resistant and sensitive strains of P. falciparum. Using in vitro techniques (fow cytometry), the compounds were tested for their ability to inhibit parasite proliferation, with the determination of IC50 values as a measure of activity. The study also covered the analysis of the stage-specific activity of the compounds, verifying their effectiveness in different phases of the parasite life cycle. All 7 compounds tested, showed sub-micromolar activity (IC50 < 1μM) against both strains 3D7HT-GFP (sensitive) and IPC5202 (resistant). Of these, 6 exhibited IC50 <100 nM, ranging between 2.19 - 31.95 nM in for the sensitive strain and 2.44 - 58.08 nM for the resistant strain. One of the compounds, trioxolane AS04, was encapsulated in a particle formed by cucurbiturils, the AS04+particle was designated AG521. The difference in activity between AS04 and AG521 was low, with the IC50 remaining below 100 nM, and within the range of in vitro activities demonstrated by other endoperoxides in clinical use, such as DHA, artemether or artesunate. The results indicate that the endoperoxides tested, had substantial activity against both susceptible and resistant P. falciparum strains to artemisinin derivatives, suggesting that these compounds have promising potential as antimalarials
