Consulting project with the topic: "a successful roadmap for healthcare providers to renegotiate prices with health insurance companies - internal inquiry of the company´s resources, capabilities and financial situation"
This consulting project focuses on the development of strategy for healthcare provider to renegotiate prices with health insurance companies. The initial objective of the project was, in a first phase, to high light a general increase in exogenous costs in the healthcare sector, to support an intended renegotiation. From this starting point, the Team proposed the execution of are negotiation strategy based, not only on how to leverage this evidence of the exogenous costs increase, but also on possible ways of joint value creation. To meet these objectives, internal and external analysis were conducted to identify opportunities and challenges in both the healthcare and insurance markets. This analysis allowed, not only to infer about exogenous costs increases and their impact on healthcare providers, but also to understand the possibility of creating value for both stakeholders, by matching the client’s strengths with existing market opportunities. Further more, a financial model was developed with the intention of quantitatively helping the client from the argument preparation moment to the final renegotiation meetings. More over, a qualitative assessment of strategies to create value was performed, supported on in depth interviews made to subject and industry experts. The final outcome of the project was materialized in to a set of recommendations based on three different scopes: price and costs historical evidence, price revision mechanisms and shared-value initiatives. On a final note, the client has already begun to implement our recommendations, therefore signalling the true importance and success of this body of work
The Impact of Influencer-Owned Brands on Brand Attachment and Impulsive Buying Behaviour in the Fashion Industry
Dissertation presented as the partial requirement for obtaining a Master's degree in Data Driven Marketing, specialization in Digital Marketing and AnalyticsThe continuous growth of social media has been allowing certain users to emerge as opinion leaders
as they attract a substantial number of users on these platforms. These opinion leaders, or social media
influencers, can influence and change their followers’ ideas, opinions, values and even their habits,
which makes them highly attractive to brands and their marketing strategies. A new way of advertising
a brand is born, as influencer marketing comes in the picture and presents a more cost-effective way
of promoting a brand. However, what happens when the brand endorser is also the brand owner? It is
becoming more common to see influencers creating their own brands, especially in the fashion
industry. This research aims to study and understand how fashion influencers that own brands can
have an impact on consumers in terms of brand attachment and impulsive buying behaviour,
considering source credibility and source attractiveness as characteristics of the SMFIs. A quantitative
method, more precisely an online survey, was chosen to collect data and the sample was composed of
428 respondents that followed fashion influencers on social media, with ages between 18 to 71 years
old. Results showed that source credibility does not significantly impacts brand attachment but does
have a negative influence on impulsive buying behaviour, source attractiveness has a positive impact
on both variables and, brand attachment also positively influences consumers’ impulsive purchasing
behaviour. Besides this, the relationship between source attractiveness and impulsive buying
behaviour is mediated by brand attachment, however the same is not true for source credibility, as
there is no mediation effect
The impact of social media on impulse buying: Evidence from TikTok
Project Work presented as the partial requirement for obtaining a Master's degree in Data Driven Marketing, specialization in Marketing Research and CRMSocial media usage is increasingly influential in individuals' lives and consumer behaviours. Impulse purchases can be made while scrolling online, representing a significant proportion of overall purchases. The research model used for this study helps to understand how social media usage and users' internal traits can lead to impulse buying behaviour. Data from 217 TikTok users was collected and analysed. Based on the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology, the psychological engagement framework, and the big personality traits, it was possible to explain 72% of the variance in psychological engagement and 27% in impulse buying behaviour. Psychological engagement with the social media platform is driven by its performance expectancy, social influence, hedonic motivation, and habit. Impulse buying behaviour is driven by psychological engagement with the social media platform and individuals' lack of consciousness and emotional stability
Business Process Management Implementation Impact on Help-Desk Processes: A Case Study in Education
Dissertation presented as the partial requirement for obtaining a Master's degree in Data Science and Advanced Analytics, specialization in Business AnalyticsThis master thesis investigates the impact of implementing Business Process Management on enhancing the maturity of process orientation within an organizational context. An extensive literature review evaluated seven maturity models based on their coverage of core BPM areas. The BPMMM was identified as the most suitable model after considering specific criteria such as the properties of models and some design principles mentioned in the Framework of general DPs for maturity models. A qualitative approach, employing the case study method, was chosen to support this research, focusing on a higher education institution in Portugal, NOVA IMS. Initial interviews with NOVA staff facilitated the development of AS-IS models and the Help Desk Process Architecture. Subsequently, a questionnaire was performed to Help Desk members to gather data for the maturity assessment, contributing to the formulation of the model. The maturity assessment placed the Help Desk area at level 2, and it was possible to comprehend the reasons for this score. TO-BE models were then developed, demonstrating how proposed changes to the Online V2 platform simplified processes, fostering interactivity, effectiveness, and efficiency. The study's findings led to several recommendations for elevating the maturity level of the area and fostering a more process-oriented approach. Moreover, considering the outputs of this empirical study, it was feasible to state that if the changes are implemented, the area would be between maturity levels 3 and 4 in a reassessment. This study significantly contributes to the theoretical understanding of BPM by explaining the BPM concept, conducting model comparisons, selecting the most suitable one, and providing insights into practical implementation within organizations. Through this master thesis, it was viable to conclude that implementing BPM significantly influences the increase in the maturity process orientation of a university's Help Desk activity processes

Discussions regarding intergenerational justice veer towards to conclusions that do not allow us to forward concrete proposal over the best way to care for the interests of future generations without compromising current democratic institutions. From the discussions over the power exerted between generations, to the challenges of democratic institutions to resolve issues they themselves create, and the possibility to cause harm to future people gives way to an impasse over the best way to care for the interests of those who are still to come. Because we wish to avoid this impasse we turn to the exceptionality character of a legal concept such as the law of necessity as a means able to subsume the actions of activist movements that act in the defense of future generations. Thus, direct action acts in articulation with the judicial power granting the courts a viable intergeneration doctrine
