Strategic expansion of project sales across European markets for Volkswagen group services consulting Iberia - assessment of financial viability and performance metrics
This thesis develops a strategic framework for expanding project sales of Volkswagen Group
Services Consulting Iberia (VWGSC Iberia) across European markets. A country ranking
model, combining internal and external data and a PESTEL-based trend analysis, identified five
priority countries. Complemented by an in-depth market assessment, Portugal, Spain, and the
UK were selected for focused growth. For these markets, tailored market development
strategies and a project-based financial forecast confirm the expansion’s viability. The thesis
concludes with strategic recommendations to strengthen internal visibility and enhance sales
structures, providing a scalable framework for future international growth within the VW
Group
Development of a practical guideline for EU taxonomy assessment and reporting at Hamburger Energienetze GmBH
This work project develops a practical, Excel- and PowerPoint-based guideline for implementing
the EU taxonomy at Hamburger Energienetze GmbH. Based on delegated acts, internal company
data, and expert interviews, the tool enables systematic eligibility checks, alignment assessments,
and KPI calculations. Two representative activities were analysed to validate the methodology and
highlight key challenges, including regulatory uncertainty, limited data availability, and interde partmental coordination. Results confirm the feasibility of low-resource implementation and em phasise the value of standardised processes and internal documentation. The proposed guideline is
transferable to other CSRD-covered organisations and supports compliance with taxonomy report ing requirements, thereby increasing transparency and audit readiness
The role of SPF claims on packaging and their influence on men’s purchase intent and willingness to pay for skincare products in the Portuguese market
This research explored how SPF claims on packaging affect skincare purchases among Portuguese men
(18-29). Using literature reviews and 20 in-depth interviews, the study found SPF claims positively
influence specific groups like outdoor enthusiasts. However, skepticism, confusion about SPF values,
price sensitivity, and masculine social norms significantly limit overall impact. Participants showed
limited understanding of SPF benefits beyond basic sun protection, preferring simple, non-greasy
products. Peer/partner influence outweighed traditional advertising. Recommendations include clear,
relatable messaging on minimalist packaging, products offering tangible value at accessible prices, and
leveraging trusted channels to normalize SPF use in men's self-care routines
ensino do português.
This report is the result of
a non-curricular internship at the Camões, Instituto da Cooperação e da Língua, I.P.,
lectureship in Paris, at the University Paris VIII - Vincennes-Saint-Denis, as part of the
non-teaching component of the Master's programme in Language Studies.
Vincennes-Saint-Denis, as part of the non-teaching component of the of the master’s
degree in Portuguese as a Second and Foreign Language at the Faculty of Social Sciences
and Humanities of NOVA University Lisbon. It focuses on the intern's career in the host
institution and in other centres of intervention.
This internship comprises a component of pedagogical accompaniment of higher
education classes that have Portuguese as a foreign language and as a heritage language,
and their main challenges in the continuity of Portuguese learning. The aim of this report
is also to illustrate the most pressing issues that Portuguese faces in this specific context
and how they are being addressed and resolved by the lectorate's team. How Portuguese
is represented in higher education and how it survives, finding new ways to adapt in an
environment that does not consider it a strategic language.
It also analyses how Portuguese is promoted and disseminated as a language of culture in
French higher education and among a French-speaking public and the Portuguese
diaspora; the strategies used in the various situations encountered, inherent to the nature
of a lectorate, which in itself functions as a small nucleus of the country of origin in a
second country, and the obstacles and solutions encountered during the course of the
internship. The report is divided into two parts, the first with six chapters on the
theoretical framework, analysing the policies used and their costs/benefits, the role of
Camões, I.P. and the importance of cultural programming. In the second part, the
internship programme is described in a five-chapter structure, which emphasises the
importance of continuity in the teaching of Portuguese throughout the French school
career, in order to guarantee the survival of Portuguese in higher education, by attracting
students along this path, and stresses the importance of a diplomatic policy to help
transform the current perception of Portuguese as a language of emigration into a
language of culture
With the growing economic ties between China and Angola, especially withintheframework of the “Belt and Road Initiative,” exchanges and cooperation betweenthetwocountries have been deepening in political, economic, cultural, and other fields. As the official
language of Angola, Portuguese has become a fundamental language for Chinese companiesto conduct business and establish their operations in the country. Although language playsacrucial role in intercultural communication, Chinese companies in Angola face significant
language barriers and cultural adaptation challenges, which not only limit their management
efficiency and decision-making quality but also affect effective communication with employees, clients, and local partners. Through a questionnaire survey and data analysis of employees in Chinese companies in Angola, this study systematically explores the specific role of teaching Portugueseforbusiness purposes in improving intercultural communication skills, enhancing cultural
adaptation, and fostering the development of multicultural teams. The study’s findingsindicate that business Portuguese education not only effectively improves employees’language skills but also increases their sensitivity and adaptability to intercultural
communication, which in turn enhances internal communication and the international
business development of companies. Additionally, language training has a particularlysignificant effect on promoting intercultural management, especially in the creationofmulticultural teams and the development of the company’s international image. Based on these findings, this paper proposes recommendations to promotethesustainable development of Portuguese language education, including the formulationoflong-term teaching plans, the updating of course content to meet the ever-changing needsofcompanies, the establishment of internal and external educational cooperation networks, andthe creation of a scientific evaluation and feedback mechanism for language training. Theserecommendations aim to help Chinese companies in Angola better cope with intercultural
vi
challenges, achieve more efficient communication and collaboration, and enhancetheircompetitiveness and influence in the global market. Through this study, it is expected to provide theoretical support and practical guidance for the intercultural management of Chinese companies in Angola and other Portuguese-speaking countries, as well as offervaluable insights and references for the development of business Portuguese education
This dissertation seeks to address the guiding question: “Do men read books
written by women?” It uses as its starting point the study on reading habits by gender
commissioned in the United Kingdom by Mary Ann Sieghart and published in The
Authority Gap in 2021, which revealed that male readers do not read books by women.
Additionally, similar studies, both academic and non-academic, are analyzed to support
a reflection on gender and literature that extends beyond the current century.
From Virginia Woolf, in 1929, with A Room of One’s Own, to Joanna Russ, in
1983, with How To Suppress Women’s Writing, voices have consistently denounced and
questioned the marginalization of literature produced by women throughout history. In
Portugal, too, the history of women 's literature is marked by silencing and exclusion, as
underscored by authors such as Ana Paula Ferreira and Isabel Allegro de Magalhães.
Looking at the names within the literary canon, Portuguese women writers continue to
be a minority.
The central premise of this dissertation is further supported by an exploratory
study, aiming to find a quantitative answer to the question. The study was conducted
with a sample of 400 readers from a Portuguese Facebook group – 200 men and 200
women – who shared their literary choices online between May 2022 and February
2023. The results align with Siegharts findings: 81% of male readers chose a book
written by a man.
Is the pseudonym – a mechanism historically employed by women to enter into a
male-dominated literary world – still a powerful tool for literary recognition today?
Successful cases of neutral and feminine pseudonyms are examined, both in Portugal
and abroad.
The dissertation also explores the importance, origins, and challenges of
primarily independent initiatives that promote women’s literature in Portugal: feminist
bookshops (Greta), specialised publishers (Aurora), reading clubs (Leitoras de
Pandora), author collectives (Clube das Mulheres Escritoras), feminist libraries
(Biblioteca especializada Ana de Castro Osório), and academic research projects
More than a study on literary habits, this work aims to reflect on the barriers that
continue to limit the recognition of women’s literature, paving the way for more
in-depth future research that could expand the discussion and change reading behaviors
and prevailing literary biases
Impact of a mediterranean-type diet on carviovascular disease risk factors: a randomized clinical trial (Greenheartediet - rate)
Conclusão: O nosso estudo veio demonstrar que uma alimentação do tipo mediterrânica, sem restrição calórica, incrementada com alimentos de base vegetal, diariamente, promove a melhoria dos parâmetros cardiometabólicos, como o perímetro da cintura e a gordura visceral.ABSTRACT: Introduction: Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are the leading cause of death worldwide, including Portugal, serving as one of the primary factors contributing to the deterioration of quality of life. Numerous studies have underscored the pivotal role of diet in preventing CVD. Objective: This study aimed to assess the impact of a Mediterranean-type on cardiovascular risk factors (CRFs) in individuals at high risk for the disease. Methodology: This was a randomized clinical trial conducted in the Algarve region between July and December 2023. A total of 102 participants (≥50 years old) without a history of acute myocardial infarction but with high CVD risk criteria according to the SCORE2/SCORE2 OP algorithm were recruited. Anthropometric and body composition parameters [body weight, body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), arm circumference, bicipital and tricipital skinfold thickness, fat mass, muscle mass, and visceral fat], as well as biochemical parameters (total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-c), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-c), triglycerides (TG), hemoglobina glicada (HbA1c), and C-reactive protein (CRP), were evaluated at baseline and after 12 weeks of intervention. Adherence to the Mediterranean Diet (MD) was also assessed using the PREDIMED questionnaire. Participants were randomly assigned to three groups: no intervention group (group 1a), physical exercise group (group 1b), and physical exercise and diet group (group 2). Results: Only 88 participants completed the study. The sample was predominantly composed of women (73.9%) with a mean age of 70.1 ± 7.9 years. For the variables of body weight, BMI, tricipital skinfold thickness, fat mass, and muscle mass, both groups showed statistically significant results. Group 2 was the only group with significant improvements in WC, bicipital skinfold thickness, visceral fat, arm muscle area, and TG. In group 1b, a significant decrease in total cholesterol and HDL-c was observed. Between groups, significant differences were observed only in the LDL-C, HDL, HbA1c, and tricipital skinfold thickness variables. Regarding adherence to the MD, both groups initially showed moderate adherence; however, after the intervention, only group 2 showed high adherence (p=0.024). Conclusion: Our study has demonstrated that a Mediterranean-type diet, without caloric restriction, supplemented with plant-based foods daily, promotes improvement in cardiometabolic parameters such as WC and visceral fat.Project 072590 – A3COR – Algarve Active Ageing – Cardiac and Osteoarthritis Rehabilitation

Outcomes of Generative AI for professionals: The driving effects of enabled job learning and satisfaction
Dissertation presented as the partial requirement for obtaining a Master's degree in Information Management, specialization in Digital TransformationGenerative artificial intelligence (GenAI) has been attracting increased attention since the appearance
of ChatGPT in 2022. It is a technology that is presented as having the potential to trigger significant
changes in how people work. Prior studies have focused heavily on GenAI usage in an educational and
academic context application, although, there are still few studies on outcomes for professionals, both
from an instrumental scope and a humanistic perspective. To explore these research goals, this study
dives into the outcomes that GenAI usage might have for professionals, namely on wellbeing, job
engagement, management control and productivity. Moreover, it is also explored the moderation
roles of trust, perceived social presence, and decision support on the afore-mentioned outcomes. To
evaluate the previous goals, we collected answers from 306 professionals who leverage GenAI to some
extent. The findings revealed that leveraging GenAI for enabled job learning has a major contribution
towards professionals´ wellbeing and job engagement, management control, and productivity.
Moreover, we also found that perceived social presence is a mediator between GenAI enabled job
learning and management control. Additionally, we also observed that in a scenario in which
professionals have a high usage of GenAI for decision support, enabled job learning becomes more
important in explaining productivity’s variance
A partner or a replacement? Analyzing antecedents and outcomes of AI tools usage in the workplace context
Dissertation presented as the partial requirement for obtaining a Master's degree in Data Science and Advanced Analytics, specialization in Business AnalyticsThis study explores the perceptions of different generations regarding the use of AI tools and
related techniques in the work field. Applying the unified theory of acceptance and use of
technology 2 (UTAUT2) as the theoretical framework, complemented by the empowerment
theory, this research aims to understand the factors influencing the adoption and use of AI
tools among Portuguese employees, and the impact that these factors are causing. Data was
collected through a survey which included 321 respondents, whose responses were analyzed
using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings reveal that
social influence, price value, hedonic motivation, and habit significantly impact the intention
to use AI tools and the use behavior. On the other hand, performance expectancy, effort
expectancy, and facilitating conditions were not found to significantly influence the intention
to use or the actual use behavior. Additionally, the study highlights the importance of access
to information, resources, and support in fostering AI-human co-creation, as well has the
moderator effect of workload in the final outcomes. The results provide valuable insights for
organizations aiming to enhance AI adoption and integration in the workplace, based on the
impacts on productivity and innovation that it may have at work environments. Thus, the
study emphasizes the need for supportive or collaborative work environments and addresses
potential barriers to technology acceptance
Exploring the Impact of Wearable Sensors on Cruise Passengers: Individual performance and social wellbeing in a smart tourism context
Dissertation presented as the partial requirement for obtaining a Master's degree in Information Management, specialization in Digital TransformationWearable technologies are increasingly integrated into consumers’ daily lives, offering realtime data and seamless connectivity. In tourism and, particularly, in the cruise sector,
wearable sensors provided by cruise companies are emerging as key tools to enhance
passengers’ experience onboard. This study investigates the impact of these devices on two
critical outcomes: individual performance and social wellbeing. Grounded on the beliefaction-outcome (BAO) framework, this research examines how key beliefs, as perceived
convenience, privacy concerns, social influence, and perceived benefits influence passengers’
intention to use and actual usage of wearable sensors. The study further explores the
moderating roles of social influence and loyalty in shaping these relationships. Using partial
least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) with a sample of 301 cruise passengers,
collected through an online survey, results reveal that both the intention to use and actual
usage of wearable sensors significantly improve individual performance and social wellbeing
of cruise passengers. These findings extend the BAO framework to a consumer-level tourism
context, contributing to the wearable technology and smart tourism literature, and offering
practical insights for cruise operators seeking to enhance passenger experience through
strategic technology adoption
