Understanding the determinants of the outcomes for artificial intelligence in personalized learning: the rule of task completion time
Dissertation presented as the partial requirement for obtaining a Master's degree in Information Management, specialization in Digital TransformationArtificial intelligence (AI) for personalized learning is an emerging field that has attracted
growing attention from educational technology researchers. Recent developments have
emphasized the importance of system use, user satisfaction, and educational outcomes. We
propose a model combining the DeLone & McLean IS success model and the belief-actionoutcome (B-A-O) model to evaluate the impact of AI-based personalized learning systems on
both humanistic and instrumental outcomes. The empirical approach is based on data
collected from 301 student interviews across diverse educational settings. The results reveal
that use and user satisfaction are critical antecedents of perceived task performance,
individual performance, and quality of life. Furthermore, we demonstrate the moderating role
of task completion time, which significantly influences the strength of the relationships
between system use, satisfaction, and the final outcomes. Understanding the influence of AIdriven learning platforms on student performance and well-being offers valuable insights for
developers, educators, and policymakers aiming to optimize adaptive educational
technologies. We provide both theoretical and practical implications based on our findings
The craft beer market has been growing in Portugal in recent years. Due to this growth, craft beer factories have been purchasing new equipment for greater production and cutting production costs to obtain a more competitive price.
The main objective of this dissertation is the economic optimization of the fermenter sanitation process, without compromising possible future contamination, through the ATP bioluminescence test. The optimized parameters were the concentrations of the chemical cleaning and disinfection agents as well as their action times.
The results indicate that the implemented modifications reduce RLU values, which indicates more adequate levels of sanitation, as well as a potential reduction in operating costs, around 35%.
Finally, recommendations for future work are presented, including the replication of tests and the reevaluation of the CIP system in the bottling line
Effects of Covid-19 on change leadership dimensions and their perceived importance
This paper investigates Horváth´s eight Change Leadership dimensions, their perceived
importance as well as potential effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on them. From an internet mediated survey with 162 complete responses, it can be concluded that the items seem much
closer embedded in one another than Horváth´s model postulates. Overall, it can, however, be
stated that Empowerment and Trust became more important during (or after) the COVID-19
pandemic while, at the same time, the leaders’ behaviours have changed for the better. In
contrast, Inspiration seems to have lost importance for the respondents, with simultaneously,
leaders focusing less on this dimension
An analysis of digital enablers and digitalization within risk management in collaboration with deloitte Switzerland
This study aims at understanding aspects related to digitalization within Risk Management and
finding enablers and use cases utilized for that purpose within Financial Services Institutions.
The research follows a qualitative approach using semi structured expert interviews. With 12
experts interviewed, it was concluded that factors such as data governance, legacy systems and
conservativism within Risk Management play a major role in the lag of digitalization within
the risk function. This Work Project identified the enablers of Cloud Computing and Big Data
to be already important in the market, Machine Learning as growing more important but not
being widely adopted yet, whilst Blockchain Technology is still being viewed as enabler with
little adoption in the context of Risk Management

Determinants of sustainability behaviours in young adults
The purpose of this study is to analyse the determinants behind sustainable behaviours in young
adults. A conceptual model was created with four constructs based on personal and social
drivers and tested through a survey with 156 participants. Three analyses were conducted for
the following samples: young adults, students and employed. The results indicate that consumer
specific awareness, price-quality-sustainability trade-off and subjective norms are statistically
relevant determinants for pro-environmental behaviour. Furthermore, the model was more
suitable for employed than for students and young adults. Sustainable behaviours could be
leveraged by more communication on the environmental impacts of products and consumption

This thesis investigates the motivations behind Gen Z consumers' purchasing decisions
regarding High Perfumery in Europe. Despite high prices and limited availability, Gen Z
consumers show a strong engagement, driven by a desire for unique, long-lasting
fragrances and a sense of individuality. Moreover, the paper shows how also community
belonging, and family traditions also significantly influence their choices. Understanding
these motivations is crucial for brands to adapt their strategies, improve offerings, and
effectively engage this emerging, digitally savvy demographic
Expansion of luxury vehicle dealership networks: a graph neural network approach to identifying new locations
This thesis examines applying Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) to enhance U.S.
dealership network planning for a luxury car manufacturer. A literature review on location
factors for car dealerships informs the collection of 65 county-level explanatory variables
across five categories. An ablation study on 34 variable combinations and ten state-of-the-art
GNN operators ranks the variable categories by their predictive capabilities. The results reveal
the significance of competition presence, demographics, and wealth in location decisions and
propose seven counties as potential expansion locations. Overall, this research demonstrates
the applicability of GNNs in addressing complex spatial decision problems, offering insights
for industry practitioners and researchers
Exploring long-term sustainability reporting challenges: research on European sustainability reporting standards double materiality, and greenhouse gas accounting, in collaboration with Msg global
This thesis aims to contribute to the evolving field of sustainability reporting, an area
gaining recognition from regulators and researchers. Despite growing awareness, it remains
underexplored and fraught with challenges, as evidenced by recent institutional and academic
studies (Deloitte 2023; ESMA 2023; Kelnhofer & Brauner,2022; Eichhardt & Steen 2022;
Baumüller & Sopp 2023). Notably, there is a notable scarcity of literature addressing the
practical implementation challenges faced by companies and their consultants, specifically
concerning the new European Sustainability Standards, Double Materiality, and Greenhouse
Gas Accounting. This gap in the literature underscores the need for focused exploration in this
domain
É necessário investir em medidas de formação e informação para garantir a plena efetividade da Lei.The human rights of trans and intersex people have only recently become a concern for international and national entities. In Portugal, the publication of Law no. 38/2018, August 7, legally recognized the right to self-determination of gender identity and gender expression and the right to the protection of sexual characteristics. However, despite the Law having introduced positive changes, some obstacles and difficulties remain in its application, specifically with regard to trans and intersex people.
Given the importance of the topic, this study aimed to analyze the main impacts and challenges of Law no. 38/2018, in the lives of trans and intersex people, and thus understand the contribution of this Law in the first 5 years of its existence to guarantee the human rights of these people. The starting question was defined as: “For trans people and intersex people, what are the areas where the impacts and challenges of Law no. 38/2018, August 7, were observed?”
As a methodology, in this exploratory study, 12 interviews were carried out with civil society organizations representing trans and intersex people and quantitative data from complementary documentation was collected - complaints/requests for information received by the Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality and records of changes in mention of sex between 2018 and 2023. The data collected was analyzed using content analysis and descriptive statistics, respectively.
The content analysis of the interviews allowed us to understand that the participating organizations identified as less positive aspects, the difficulty of practical application of the Law, having contributed to this mainly the lack of training on the Law and matters of sexual Orientation, gender Identity and Expression and sexual Characteristics, as well as the need to implement measures that promote greater knowledge and/or clarification of the Law, the definition of competencies and compliance with obligations by responsible entities. As positive aspects, the Law's contribution to better legal and social recognition of trans and intersex people stands out, and one of the most positive aspects was the depathologization of trans people. The emphasis of the entities is focused on the use of the social name as a fundamental aspect of guaranteeing the selfdetermination of gender identity and expression, also presenting the Law as a tool for empowering people and their families.
The data collected from complaints received by the Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality are in greatest number in the Social Communication sectors, followed by the Health sector, Access to Goods and Services, Higher Education and Work. Regarding requests for clarification, they were aimed at providing more information on procedures/operationalization of the Law applied to various areas, namely Education and Health It is concluded that the Law no. 38/2018 represents an important advance for the rights of trans and intersex people in Portugal, but there are still challenges to overcome. Lack of knowledge on the Law, cultural resistance and difficulty in practical application are some of the main obstacles. It is necessary to invest in training and information measures to ensure the full effectiveness of the law
