More than meets the eye: Understanding the importance of the materialities of care at the vaccination encounter in Portugal
No full textCaring practices during vaccination encounters are deeply interwoven with materiality,
encompassing everyday objects and elements that play a crucial role for all actors
involved. However, the significance of these materialities in shaping caring relationships
within vaccination practices has been largely overlooked. This research seeks to fill that
gap by exploring how mundane elements, such as the objects present during vaccination,
contribute to the relational dynamics of the experience. Through a qualitative approach
involving participant observation of vaccination encounters and interviews with 30
healthcare professionals, four key themes emerged: (i) objects as comfort devices,
(ii) caring as gifts, (iii) reinvented medical instruments, and (iv) creating a friendly
environment. These findings suggest that material elements are not merely passive tools
but active “co-participants” in the vaccination process, influencing the interactions and
emotional exchanges that occur. By acknowledging the role of materiality, this research
enhances our understanding of vaccination as a relational experience, highlighting
the importance of considering these often-overlooked factors in both practice and policy. The study offers valuable insights into how healthcare professionals can utilize
materialities to foster more empathetic and supportive vaccination environments.Horizo

The formulation of hybrid products incorporating essential oils represents a breakthrough for more sustainable and organic agriculture. The excessive use of pesticides has led to soil and water contamination, as well as health risks, yet pesticides remain essential to ensure global food production. Currently, the agrochemical industry is focused on developing hybrid products that integrate essential oils, aiming to reduce environmental impact and enhance sustainability. These oils, combined with the conventional mechanisms of action of insecticides, such as targeting nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, create more effective products with a reduced chemical load. Objetivo: Analisar a aquisição de competências essenciais ao exercício profissional, com ênfase nas estratégias usadas por enfermeiras obstétricas para gerir a ansiedade de mulheres e casais durante o trabalho de parto. Metodologia: Sob supervisão clínica e orientação pedagógica, o estágio incluiu a reflexão sobre experiências clínicas e o estudo do tema "Ansiedade da Mulher/Casal no trabalho de parto". Resultados: Foram adquiridas competências comuns e específicas do enfermeiro especialista em enfermagem de saúde materna e obstétrica e aprofundado o conhecimento acerca da gestão da ansiedade durante o parto, aprimorando os cuidados prestados. Framework: The Professional Nature Internship, with a final report, aimed at the development of theoretical-practical, common, and specific competencies for specialized training in Maternal and Obstetric Health Nursing. Objective: To analyze the acquisition of essential competencies for professional practice, with emphasis on the strategies used by obstetric nurses to manage the anxiety of women and couples during labor. Methodology: Under clinical supervision and pedagogical guidance, the internship included reflection on clinical experiences and the study of the topic "Woman/Couple Anxiety during Labor." Results: Common and specific competencies of the specialist nurse in maternal and obstetric health nursing were acquired, and knowledge about managing anxiety during labor was deepened, improving the care provided. Conclusion: The objectives were achieved, promoting humanized and specialized care, highlighting the importance of anxiety management strategies during labor
O contributo do design de informação na compreensão e orientação no espaço: proposta de Sistema Wayfinding para a Universidade de Évora
Get PDFO Wayfinding surge como ponto de partida na sinalização que é utilizada no
exterior, como por exemplo a sinalização rodoviária e é hoje imprescindível nos
diferentes edifícios públicos. Sem a sua existência seria difícil a orientação em
espaços interiores, como também são os casos de aeroportos, hospitais ou
universidades. Através desta investigação e, consequente aplicação prática,
pretendemos compreender a importância e influência destes instrumentos
perante comunidades, como o caso de estudo que está a ser representado: a
Universidade de Évora. Como tal, esta ideia de projeto surgiu pela deteção da
falta de um sistema de sinalética congruente nos diferentes espaços, dado que o
atual revela uma significativa desorganização espacial, mostrando-se deficiente
e incongruente do ponto de vista gráfico. Esta falha acentua-se quando são
analisados os imensos e variados elementos de comunicação internos e como
eles “respondem” para o todo da comunidade que a coabita. Assumindo o con tributo das competências do Design de Comunicação, identifica-se esta questão
como uma oportunidade na resposta à problemática, cujo principal objetivo é a
conceção de um sistema Wayfinding, de tipo analógico, que possibilite criar uma
maior eficiência e harmonia da sinalética, permitindo aos utilizadores circularem
nos diferentes espaços autonomamente, minimizando deste modo, os níveis de

University of Évora - ABSTRACT
Wayfinding is the starting point for signs used outdoors, such as road signs and
is now essential in different public buildings. Without its existence, it would be
difficult to find your way around indoors, as is the case in airports, hospitals and
universities. Through this research and subsequent practical application, we
intend to understand the importance and influence of these instruments on com munities, such as the case study being represented: the University of Évora.
As such, this project idea arose from the detection of the lack of a congruent
signage system in the different spaces, given that the current one reveals signif icant spatial disorganization, showing itself to be deficient and incongruous from
a graphic point of view. This shortcoming is accentuated when we analyze the
many and varied internal communication elements and how they “respond” to
the community as a whole. Assuming the contribution of Communication Design
skills, this issue is identified as an opportunity to respond to the problem, the
main objective of which is to design an analogue Wayfinding system that makes
it possible to create greater efficiency and harmony in signage, allowing users to
move around the different spaces autonomously, thus minimizing levels of doubt
and misinformation through humanized communication
Dinâmica e estrutura populacional do javali (Sus scrofa) de acordo com dados de caça: implicações para a gestão da espécie em Portugal
No full textAs estatísticas de exploração cinegética podem fornecer informações cruciais acerca da
distribuição e densidade de espécies, especialmente quando suportadas por informação sobre a
interação com o caçador e as dinâmicas do território. Os resultados de exploração cinegética do javali em Portugal continental, a nível do município (javalis/ha), entre as épocas venatórias de 1989 e 2020, foram utilizados para avaliar padrões espaciais e temporais das tendências populacionais,
relacionando-os com a tipologia de gestão de zonas de caça e dinâmicas nas classes de uso e ocupação
do solo em Portugal. Estas dinâmicas foram obtidas em SIG a partir de matrizes de transição entre a
Carta de Uso e Ocupação do Solo (COS) de 1995 e 2018. A influência das variáveis em análise foi explorada através de modelação estatística (modelo linear geral), e as tendências espaciais ao longo do tempo foram mapeadas utilizando ferramentas de SIG. Nos municípios com mais de 15 anos de dados reportados (n=170) verificou-se um aumento médio anual de 4,4% nos javalis caçados,
enquanto apenas dois concelhos apresentaram uma redução anual nos abates. Este padrão nas
tendências de abates foi consistente ao longo do período de estudo, verificando-se superior na região
cinegética do Alentejo e em zonas de caça turísticas, comparativamente com as restantes tipologias. As tendências positivas significativas estão associadas a transições entre ocupações de solo em ambientes florestais (matos/florestas) e alterações nos sistemas produtivos agrícolas, em particular
na região sul do país. Discute-se a necessidade de abordagens integradoras de dados de monitorização
ambiental, nomeadamente sobre a evolução da paisagem em Portugal, e da atividade da caça, para
uma gestão adaptativa e eficácia das estratégias de controlo populacional de javalis, mitigando os
impactos negativos na agricultura e economia e biodiversidade; - Population structure and dynamics of Wild boar (Sus
scrofa) according to hunting data: Implications for management in
Portugal
Abstract:
Hunting bag statistics can provide crucial insights into species distribution and density,
especially when supported by information on hunter interactions and territorial dynamics. The
hunting bag statistics for wild boar in mainland Portugal, at the municipal level (wild boar/ha), from the hunting seasons of 1989 to 2020, were used to assess spatial and temporal patterns in population
trends. These patterns were related to different types of game management and land use dynamics
in Portugal. The land use dynamics were obtained from GIS-based transition matrices comparing the land-use maps (COS) from 1995 and 2018. The influence of the analyzed variables was explored using
statistical modeling (general linear model), and spatial trends over time were mapped using GIS tools.
In municipalities with more than 15 years of reported data (n=170), there was an average annual
increase of 4.4% in the number of wild boars hunted, while only two municipalities showed a yearly reduction in harvests. This pattern of hunting bag trends remained consistent throughout the study period, with a higher increase in the Alentejo region and in tourist hunting areas compared to other management types. Significant positive trends were associated with land-use transitions in forest
environments (scrubland/forest) and changes in agricultural production systems, particularly in the
southern region of the country. The necessity for integrative approaches to environmental monitoring data, particularly regarding landscape evolution in Portugal and hunting activity, is discussed for
adaptive management and the effectiveness of wild boar population control strategies, aimed at
mitigating negative impacts on agriculture, economy, and biodiversity
Rossio de S. Brás, Évora: ensaio para uma proposta de intervenção do espaço urbano
No full textO presente trabalho de investigação, dá continuidade ao
estudo iniciado na disciplina de Desenho Urbano e Territorial II,
orientada pelo Professor Doutor António Borges Abel no ano de 2019.
No decorrer desta disciplina, foi-nos ensinado a conduzir
uma investigação a uma escala urbana, o que permitiu transportar
parte dessas competências para a elaboração da minha dissertação.
Assim, esta investigação procura responder à
questão central: Como intervir num espaço, preservando a
sua memória e identidade, quando se trata de um território
predominantemente não edificado? Tendo como caso de estudo,
o Rossio de S. Brás, um vazio urbano central na cidade de Évora.
Para fundamentar a proposta de intervenção, é realizada
uma análise a alguns conceitos fundamentais que irão sustentar a
proposta de projeto, bem como é realizada uma análise morfológica
da evolução histórica e urbanística do espaço ‘Rossio’, bem
como um enquadramento de todas as propostas de requalificação
apresentadas para o lugar em questão. Pretende-se analisar a
importância da preservação do espírito do lugar, assegurando
que qualquer intervenção futura respeite a sua identidade e
contribua para a valorização do património e paisagem envolvente; - ROSSIO DE S. BRÁS: ESSAY FOR A PROPOSAL OF URBAN SPACE INTERVENTION - ABSTRACT: This research work continues the study initiated in the Urban and Territorial Design II course, guided by Professor António Borges Abel in 2019.
During this course, we were taught how to conduct research on an urban scale, which allowed me to transfer part of these skills to the development of my dissertation.
Thus, this research seeks to answer the central question: How can we intervene in a space while preserving its memory and identity, particularly when dealing with a predominantly non-built territory? The case study is the Rossio de S. Brás, a central urban void in the city of Évora.
To support the intervention proposal, an analysis of fundamental concepts is conducted to provide a solid foundation for the project. Additionally, a morphological study of the historical and urban evolution of the Rossio space is carried out, along with an overview of all the requalification proposals previously presented for this location. The aim is to assess the importance of preserving the spirit of the place, ensuring that any future intervention respects its identity and contributes to the enhancement of the surrounding heritage and landscape
Cooperação São Tomé e Príncipe - China no período 2016-2020
No full textNa busca de desenvolvimento económico e social, o Governo de São Tomé e Príncipe,
tem desenvolvido diversos Projetos Estruturantes para a recuperação da Economia
Nacional através da cooperação com a República Popular da China. O presente trabalho
tem como objetivo principal procurar entender a cooperação entre São Tomé e Príncipe
e a República Popular da China, nomeadamente, conhecer a importância da cooperação
entre STP e a China no período de 2016-2020 para o desenvolvimento social e
económico. A pesquisa recorreu a uma metodologia qualitativa, utilizando-se os
recursos documentais e entrevistas com especialistas para recolha, respetivamente, de
dados secundários e primários. A análise da informação foi realizada em função do
objetivo de estudo por meio de análise de conteúdos. Os resultados permitem
demonstrar a importância e os benefícios mútuos da cooperação São Tomé e Príncipe-
China, fundamentalmente suportadas pela pesca e transformação, os compromissos
internacionais e o seu contributo para desenvolvimentos de projetos estruturantes

In the pursuit of economic and social development, the Government of São Tomé and
Príncipe has developed several Structuring Projects for the recovery of the National

the People's Republic of China, namely, to understand the importance of cooperation
between STP and China in the period 2016-2020 for social and economic development.
The investigation uses a qualitative methodology, using documentary resources and,
interviews with experts to collect, respectively secondary and primary data. The analysis
of the information was carried out according to the objective of the study through

Get PDFEnquadramento: O Estágio de Natureza Profissional com Relatório Final é uma unidade curricular integrante do Mestrado em Enfermagem de Saúde Materna e Obstétrica, concebida para o desenvolvimento de competências teóricas e práticas.
Objetivo: Analisar reflexivamente as competências comuns e específicas adquiridas durante o estágio de natureza profissional, assim como a evidência científica relacionada ao uso de bolas de nascimento durante o trabalho de parto.
Metodologia: Realização de uma revisão sistemática da literatura sobre o tema, complementada pela colheita de informações teóricas e práticas, sob supervisão clínica e orientação pedagógica.
