Palavras-chave: Cinema marginal; Alegoria; Carnavalização; Análise Filmica; Cinema brasileiroBetween the mid-1960s and mid-1970s, Brazilian cinema reached a peak of artistic expression, set against the gloomy political and social context of the country. Under the prevailing censorship of the military regime, a new generation of filmmakers crafted a form of cinema that was both free and critical. This study examines how Cinema Marginal directors like Rogério Sganzerla, João Silvério Trevisan, and Luiz Rosemberg Filho employed figures of speech such as carnivalization and allegory in their films during this period of intense artistic and political repression. Selected works for analysis include Sganzerla's Sem essa, Aranha (1970), Trevisan's Orgia ou o Homem que deu Cria (1971), and Rosemberg Filho's Assuntina das Amérikas (1975), showcasing a significant section of the movement. Employing qualitative documentary methods, this research aims to contextualize Brazilian cinema during these two decades, explore the use of carnivalization and allegory in the selected films, and demonstrate the effectiveness of these concepts. Playful by design : a third space community of practice for game studies & design
This paper traces the history and development of Playful by Design, a cross-campus initiative at the University of Illinois Urba-na-Champaign from which the interdisciplinary Game Studies & Design program emerged. Interdisciplinary collaborations bridge differences between academic cultures and can spur innovative research and new programs and initiatives. Games, under-stood both as objects of study and as a methodology for conducting research on topics other than games, are moving into the mainstream within multiple academic disciplines; that doesn't mean that interdisciplinary game studies must disappear as an intellectual endeavor. Playful by Design has become a local and global community of practice in which shared and overlapping interests in game-relevant research of all kinds, but also in design, pedagogy, and technology, provide a durable interdiscipli-nary third space. As a network, it can welcome multidisciplinary activities pursued by teachers, scholars, artists, and designers within their own disciplines and in their own ways. Through creative collaborations, the sharing of resources, and the growth of team-based studio work and other experiential learning, this approach facilitates the emergence of transdisciplinary and glocal aspirations. These include shared values of accessibility and inclusion, reflected in how we teach and conduct research, and in the design and creation of games, simulations, and other interactive and immersive experiences that address the critical shared challenges of our times. Keywords: Game Studies, Game Design, Game Development, Community of Practice, Third Space, Glocal, Collaboration, Accessi-bility, Emerging Technologies, Playful by Desig
As people age, cognitive decline is a natural occurrence. Brain capacity diminishes, and consequently, cognitive performance declines as well. However, scientific research has shown that cognitive reserve plays a crucial role in mitigating these effects, making cognitive training an effective tool for strengthening the brain. Ensuring healthy aging is increasingly a priority, according to the World Health Organization, and the portuguese population is becoming progressively older. This study explores the role of cognitive reserve in the cognitive training of older adults through digital activities and examines whether improvements are seen in the following domains: processing speed, mental flexibility, and planning, after four weeks of cognitive training. This is a longitudinal study with an experimental design and non-probabilistic convenience sampling, involving 10 participants aged between 73 and 90 (n=10; M= 81.80; SD= 6.30). The measures used were the Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE), the Brief Symptom Inventory (BSI), Raven's Colored Progressive Matrices, the Frontal Assessment Battery (FAB), the Trail Making Test - Part A, the Cognitive Reserve Questionnaire (CRQ), a Sociodemographic Questionnaire, and the Lumosity platform, which provided the digital training exercises. The results indicate that there were no statistically significant differences in the participants' performance before and after the cognitive training, refuting both proposed hypotheses. It is concluded that, although cognitive reserve and technology-based cognitive interventions are rapidly growing fields with great potential to promote brain health and prevent cognitive decline, the results from the studied sample suggest that cognitive reserve does not have a favorable impact on cognitive training
Previous studies have demonstrated the relationship between trauma, cognitive schemas, and difficulties in emotional processing, as well as their predictive capacity concerning symptomatology and well-being. This study aims to explore the extent to which the frequency of complex trauma impacts the development of dialectical core schemas and the consequent difficulties in emotional processing. To this end, a community sample (N = 185) was analyzed, revealing significant associations between complex trauma, difficulties in emotional processing, symptomatology, and certain core schemas. Furthermore, complex trauma was found to predict symptomatology and partially mediate the relationship between dialectical core schemas and difficulties in emotional processing. These findings partially support the impact of complex trauma on dialectical core schemas and fully support its influence on emotional processing difficulties, offering significant contributions for both clinicians and researchers
Protection of children and young people in Portugalwhat former beneficiaries, families, professionals and researchers have to say?
Althoughthe remarks onchildprotection, someconcerns requestpolitical action to ensure in fact the rights of the child. Literature has discussed proposals to support policymaking for reforming thePortugueseChild Protection System (CPS). This study, giving voice to CPS stakeholders, aims at assessing their level of agreement with proposals to reform the CPS and explore their positions. Research design used mixed methods, thus anonline survey (n = 292), and focus groups conducted with CPS former beneficiaries, families, practitioners and academics (n = 18). Results presenta clear alignment with the proposals, implicatinga demandingreform towards a child-centred CPS. Emerged themes are discussed, as “Changes in legislation: strengthen family-based care”, “Changes in legislation: child-friendly justice” and“Changes in administration: restructuration ofthe CPS”. The conclusions highlight implications for policy

The specialized TV editorial market in Brazil : the Specialized a study on fan culture in Intervalo Magazine
This article analyses all 52 editions of the section "Entreviste seu Ídolo" from Intervalo magazine; based on the survey and analysis of issues published between 1968 and 1969, we discuss questions related to the fans profile chosen to participate in the section, the segment of activity of the idols and the context of the questions answered by the interviewees. In Brazil, despite being a minority, fan culture studies in communication are expanding and covering different areas such as identities, politics, and consumption. In this context, the article starts from a sample that has still not been explored in fan culture studies in the country. The magazine was a project of Editora Abril, published between the years 1963 and 1972; in turn, upon observing this strategic movement of the broadcasters and the consequent interest of its readers, it created several sections that established dialogues and built different relationships with its audience (Magnolo, 2023)
The story of Finland, as told by two weeklies : the long narratives of Suomen Kuvalehti and Apu
Over 100 years, two magazines have reported about Finland to Finns. However, their focus and working tools have been different. One has tried to catch the gaze of the educated few, while the other has focussed on the whole family. During various social turns, one has better caught the public gaze and the other has been less successful – but during the following decade, the roles have changed. The eternal problem for both is the question of topicality
The decline of music magazines in Greece
Greek music magazines have witnessed a sharp decline over the years. This study posits that this decline cannot be attributed solely to the advent of the internet but is the culmination of various factors. The challenges faced by Greek music magazines resonate with those faced by the broader Greek newspaper industry, suggesting an interlinked adversity within the media landscape. A primary concern has been the saturation of the market; Greece had an unsustainable number of titles for its relatively small market. The country's financial crisis, in tandem with the rise of the internet, led to a significant drop in advertising revenues that traditionally supported these publications. Our findings indicate that from 1946 to 2022, there were 73 distinct music magazine and fanzine titles in Greece. Yet, as of now, only four remain in circulation. This paper delves into the historical significance of music magazines, elucidating their pivotal role in disseminating music culture in Greece, with particular attention directed towards elucidating the factors contributing to their contemporary decline
